The 0.07BaTiO33-0.93Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3 ceramic is synthesized using a combination of Zn3Nb2O8 B-site precursor and BaTiO33 perovskite phase stabilizer. Then, x-ray absorption spectroscopy and density functional theory are employed to calculate the local structure configuration and formation energy of the prepared samples. Ba2+ is found to replace Pb2+ in AA-site with Zn2+ occupying BB-site in Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3, while in the neighboring structure, Ti4+4+ replaces Nb5+5+ in BB-site with Pb2+2+ occupying AA-site. With the substitution of BaTiO33 in Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3, the bond length between Zn2+ and Pb2+ is longer than that of the typical perovskite phase of Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3. This indicates the key role of BaTiO33 in decreasing the steric hindrance of Pb2+ lone pair, and the mutual interactions between Pb2+ lone pair and Zn2+ and the formation energy is seen to decrease. This finding of the formation energy and local structure configuration relationship can further extend a fundamental understanding of the role of BaTiO33 in stabilizing the perovskite phase in PbZn13Nb23O3-based materials, which in turn will lead to an improved preparation technique for desired electrical properties.展开更多
This study explored the effects over time of lactic acid (LA) on IκBα phosphorylation and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) p65 protein expression, and on tumor necrosis factor a (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-...This study explored the effects over time of lactic acid (LA) on IκBα phosphorylation and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) p65 protein expression, and on tumor necrosis factor a (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) mRNA levels in rat intestinal mucosa microvascular endothelial cells (RIMMVECs) stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). I?Ba, phosphorylated IκBa (p-IκBa) and p65 protein levels were monitored by Western blot analysis, and TNF-a and IL-6 mRNA levels were analyzed using real-time PCR. LA treatment reduced TNF-a and IL-6 mRNA levels in LPS-stimulated RIMMVECs, with the greatest effect being after 3 h. The highest inhibitory effect of LA on IκBa phosphorylation to prevent activation of NF-κB was after 6 h. These results suggest that LA reduces TNF-a and IL-6 mRNA levels through decreasing IκBa phosphorylation and blocking the dissociation of IKK complex, which prevents activation of NF-κB.展开更多

We aimed to evaluate the difference in dissection rate and outcomes between the treatment group with rotational atherectomy and with?out it. Methods From January 2011 to October 2016, we compared the angiography after balloon angioplasty (BA) of de-novo, femoropop?liteal, steno-occlusive lesions whether they were treated by rotational atherectomy prior to the BA or not. Fifty-nine lesions (8 occlusions; 3 involving popliteal segment; lesion length: 86.3 ± 66.8 mm) in 44 patients (29 males; mean age 66.9 ± 9.7 years) were enrolled for this review. Results Forty-two lesions were treated using rotational atherectomy, prior to BA while 17 were recanalized firstly by BA. Clinical and lesion characteristics were not different between the groups. However, the rate of significant arterial dissection (type C to F) was lower in the atherectomy group (88.2% vs. 42.9%; P = 0.001). In multivariate analysis, use of the atherectomy device was the only risk factor for prevention of development of significant dissection (P = 0.013; OR = 0.12; 95% CI: 0.025?0.642). Patients were treated either by the angioplasty alone, drug coated balloon or stent insertion. There was lower trend in target vessel revascularization and primary patency toward the atherectomy group (low rank P = 0.108 and 0.166), however secondary patency was significantly better (low rank P = 0.001). Conclusions Rotational atherec?tomy before BA reduced the rate of significant dissection and therefore, might be a valuable option for minimizing need of bailout stenting.展开更多

Putative and known polysaccharide deacetylases (PDAs) from B. anthracis have key roles in resistance to host lysozyme, stabilization of the cell wall, biogenesis of peptidoglycan (PG) and for neutral polysaccharide mo...Putative and known polysaccharide deacetylases (PDAs) from B. anthracis have key roles in resistance to host lysozyme, stabilization of the cell wall, biogenesis of peptidoglycan (PG) and for neutral polysaccharide modification and attachment to PG. Here we elucidated the physiological role of the putative PDA BA1836 from B. anthracis. The ba1836 gene was expressed upon entrance into the stationary phase of growth and enhanced during the early stages of sporulation. The Δba1836 knockout strain had normal growth rate, did not exhibit any significant alterations in PG pattern of stationary phase cells and was not sensitive to lysozyme, but showed a defect in cell separation. Strikingly, the Δba1836 mutant strain exhibited a severe delay in spore development although mature spores were ultimately developed and had normal morphology. Additionally, digestion of Δba1836 mutant spore PG with mutanolysin produced an almost identical muropeptide pattern compared to peptidoglycan from wild type spores, although the amount of all muropeptides was significantly reduced. Finally, knockout spores exhibited a lower germination rate. To our knowledge, BA1836 has a unique role, among the presently characterized PDAs from B. anthracis, in spore development and germination.展开更多

(Ba0.4Pb0.3)Sr0.3TiO3 thin films were fabricated via pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique on Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrate. The crystallization of the films was characterized by XRD and FSEM, and the experimental r...(Ba0.4Pb0.3)Sr0.3TiO3 thin films were fabricated via pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique on Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrate. The crystallization of the films was characterized by XRD and FSEM, and the experimental results suggested deposition parameters, especially the deposition temperature was the key factor in forming the perovskite structure. The dielectric properties of the film deposited with optimized parameters were studied by an Agilent 4294A impedance analyzer at 1 MHz. The dielectric constant was 772, and the loss tangent was 0.006. In addition, the well-shaped hysteresis loop also showed that the film had a well performance in ferroelectric. The saturated polarization P, remnant polarization Pr and coercive field E were about 4.6 μC/cm2, 2.5 μC/cm2 and 23 kV/cm (the coercive voltage is 0.7 V), respectively. It is suggested the film should be a promising candidate for microwave applications and nonvolatile ferroelectric random access memories (NvFeRAMs).展开更多

Dependences of HfO 2 thickness on the dielectric property and leakage curre...Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 (BST) thin films with and without HfO 2 buffer layer were fabricated on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by pulsed laser deposition. Dependences of HfO 2 thickness on the dielectric property and leakage current of BST thin films were focused. The dielectric constant of BST thin films increased and then decreased with the increase of HfO 2 thickness, while the dielectric relaxation was gradually improved. The loss tangent and leakage current under positive bias decreased with the HfO 2 thickness increasing. The leakage current analysis based on the Schottky emission indicated an improvement of the BST/Pt interface with HfO 2 buffer layer. The loss tangent, tunability and figure of merit of optimized HfO 2 buffered BST thin film achieved 0.009 8, 21.91% (E max = 200 kV/cm), 22.40 at 10 6 Hz, respectively.展开更多

The results show that the lowest-energy structures undergo a structural change from two-dimensional to three-dimensional when n : 4. With the increase of the cluster size (n=6), the (BAs)n clusters tend to adopt cage-like structures, which can be considered as being built from B2As2 and six-membered rings with B-As bond alternative arrangement. The binding energy per atom, second-order energy differences, vertical electron affinity and vertical ionization potential are calculated and discussed. The caculated HOMO-LUMO gaps reveal that the clusters have typical semiconductor characteristics. The analysis of partial density of states suggests that there are strong covalence and molecular characteristics in the clusters.展开更多

Three (3) mature rumen-cannulated goats weighting 27.33 ± 1.53 kg housed in individual elevated metabolism stalls with customized fecal and urine collection tools with treatments replicated three times over time following the Complete Randomized Design (CRD). Animal</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">s</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;"> were randomly selected on different dietary treatment at different cycle. For each cycle, animals were provided with 30% concentrate on the morning based on feed requirements {3% of their body weight (BW) dry matter (DM) basis} of the animals. Ad libitum feeding of Napier grass will follow thereafter. Clean drinking water were made available all the times in the respective animal watering troughs. The rumen-cannulated goats were supplemented with different levels of two dietary fats (VCO and Lard) with dietary treatment combinations as follows, Control and VCO and Lard at 3% & 5%. Degradability of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) were collected sequentially in every cycle of the study. There were seven (7) days lag period in every cycle for the animals to return to each natural state. On the 8th day of every cycle, animals were given different dietary treatment. Sequential insertion of nylon bag was done on the 15th to</span><span style="font-family:""> </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">16th day (7 days after treatment). The results showed that degradability of the dry matter (DM) was noticed degraded exponentially on the first twelve hours of incubation and slower down </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">i</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">n the next few hours until 48 hours. Crude protein, acid and neutral detergent fiber showed breakdown of components was observed </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">i</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">n the first 48 hours of incubation. No significant difference (P > 0.05) among treatment means was observed in all parameters gathered. This implies that mature female goat diet cannot be influenced by dietary fats from two different sources (VCO and Lard) at 3% to 5% supplementation. Based on the study conducted, dietary fats supplementation on goats such as VCO and lard given at the maximum level of 5% level did not influence the nutrient degradability of Napier grass in the rumen until it reaches at 48 hours of incubation. Supplementing ruminant diets with dietary fat in goats could increase the energy density of the animal’s diet without adverse effect on rumen degradability. This simple, easy, and basic technique could also be applied to other animal species in pursuit </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">of</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;"> finding ways to formulate indigenous feedstuff materials that have potential nutritive values. Given the limitations such as the climatic and environmental constraints, this particular study would somehow serve as benchmark in conducting related researches in optimizing the conditions with respect to animal nutrition and feedstuff utilization. These lineaments cross-cut the large north-south ori...The present study focuses on the analysis and description of lineaments interpreted as secondary structures to describe the nature of Senegalo Malian Discontinuity. These lineaments cross-cut the large north-south oriented transcurrent lithospheric structure known as the Senegalo Malian Discontinuity (SMD). Two lineaments were selected oriented NNE (N15˚ to N25˚), one at Dialafara and one at Sadiola. Four profiles on each lineament of these 2 zones, so that there were 2 on each side of the SMD. The ground data collected were processed using proper parameter and software. Some filters were applied to enhance the signal level. These ground data were later compared to the existing airborne magnetic data for consistency and accuracy using the upward continuation filter. The results show that the quality of ground data is good. In addition, the ground magnetic data show the presence of certain local anomalies that are not visible in the regional data. The analytical signal was also used to determine domain boundaries or possible contact zones. The contact zone can be highlighted on certain profiles such as L300 and L600. The study showed that the west and east sides of the SMD are not the same. Secondary structures become wide when approaching the SMD on both sides. They are also duplicated to the east of the SMD when we move progressively away. In the Dialafara area, the ground magnetic data intersect an interpreted fold. The results of this work confirm the presence of the secondary structures and their evolution in relation to the SMD. The relationships between the secondary structures in the Dailafara and Sadiola zones and their relations with the SMD are highlighted. The technique used in this study, is an important approach to better description and interpreting of regional structures using the secondary structures and proposing a structural model.展开更多

AIM:To investigate associations between ethnicity,age and sex and the risk,colon distribution and density scores of diverticular disease(DD).METHODS:Barium enemas were examined in 1000 patients:410 male,590 female;760...AIM:To investigate associations between ethnicity,age and sex and the risk,colon distribution and density scores of diverticular disease(DD).METHODS:Barium enemas were examined in 1000 patients:410 male,590 female;760 whites,62 Asians,44 black africans(BAs),and 134 other blacks(OBs).Risks and diverticula density of left-sided DD(LSDD) and rightsided-component DD(RSCDD = right-sided DD + right and left DD + Pan-DD) were compared using logistic regression.RESULTS:Four hundred and forty-seven patients had DD(322 LSDD and 125 RSCDD).Adjusted risks:(1) LSDD:each year increase in age increased the odds by 6%(95% CI:5-8,SE:0.8%,P < 0.001);Asians:odds ratio(OR):0.23(95% CI:0.10-0.53,SE:0.1,P ≤ 0.001) and OBs:OR:0.25(95% CI:0.14-0.43,SE:0.07,P ≤ 0.001) appeared protected vs Whites;(2) RSCDD:each year increase in age increased the odds by 4%(95% CI:2-6,SE:1%,P < 0.001);females were 0.60 times(95% CI:0.40-0.90,SE:0.12,P = 0.01) less likely than males to have RSCDD;BAs were 3.51 times(95% CI:1.70-7.24,SE:1.30,P < 0.001) more likely than Whites to have RSCDD;and(3) DD density scores:each year increase in age increased the odds of highdensity scores by 4%(95% CI:1-6,SE:1%,P < 0.001);RSCDD was 2.77 times(95% CI:1.39-3.32,SE:0.67,P < 0.001) more likely to be of high density than LSDD.No further signif icant differences were found in the adjusted models.CONCLUSION:Right colonic DD might be more common and has higher diverticula density in the west than previously reported.BAs appear predisposed to DD,whereas other ethnic differences appear conserved following migration.展开更多

文摘Qūba(dermatophytoses)is a clinical condition caused by fungal infection of skin in humans.The fungi that cause dermatophytoses feed on keratin,the material found in the outer layer of skin,hair and nails.Many effective synthetic antifungal drugs have been discovered for the treatment of dermatomycoses but their use has remained limited due to various side effects on human systems.Herbal remedies are being used for its treatment.Unani medicines are also being promoted as dermatophytoses treatment.Detailed management consisting of single herbs and compound formulations along with other regimes has been mentioned to treat this disease in the classical Unani literature,which is safe and effective.The aim of this study was to systematically review the evidence for this notion and to discuss different aspects of Qūba(dermatophytoses).Extensive literature searches were carried out to identify drugs reported to be effective in the treatment of Qūba(dermatophytoses).In this review paper author has tried to present few Unani medicines prevalently used for treatment of dermatophytoses.

文摘(Ba0.4Pb0.3)Sr0.3TiO3 thin films were fabricated via pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique on Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrate. The crystallization of the films was characterized by XRD and FSEM, and the experimental results suggested deposition parameters, especially the deposition temperature was the key factor in forming the perovskite structure. The dielectric properties of the film deposited with optimized parameters were studied by an Agilent 4294A impedance analyzer at 1 MHz. The dielectric constant was 772, and the loss tangent was 0.006. In addition, the well-shaped hysteresis loop also showed that the film had a well performance in ferroelectric. The saturated polarization P, remnant polarization Pr and coercive field E were about 4.6 μC/cm2, 2.5 μC/cm2 and 23 kV/cm (the coercive voltage is 0.7 V), respectively. It is suggested the film should be a promising candidate for microwave applications and nonvolatile ferroelectric random access memories (NvFeRAMs).

文摘Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 (BST) thin films with and without HfO 2 buffer layer were fabricated on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by pulsed laser deposition. Dependences of HfO 2 thickness on the dielectric property and leakage current of BST thin films were focused. The dielectric constant of BST thin films increased and then decreased with the increase of HfO 2 thickness, while the dielectric relaxation was gradually improved. The loss tangent and leakage current under positive bias decreased with the HfO 2 thickness increasing. The leakage current analysis based on the Schottky emission indicated an improvement of the BST/Pt interface with HfO 2 buffer layer. The loss tangent, tunability and figure of merit of optimized HfO 2 buffered BST thin film achieved 0.009 8, 21.91% (E max = 200 kV/cm), 22.40 at 10 6 Hz, respectively.

文摘This paper investigates the lowest-energy structures, stabilities and electronic properties of (BAs)n clusters (n=1- 14) by means of the density-functional theory. The results show that the lowest-energy structures undergo a structural change from two-dimensional to three-dimensional when n : 4. With the increase of the cluster size (n=6), the (BAs)n clusters tend to adopt cage-like structures, which can be considered as being built from B2As2 and six-membered rings with B-As bond alternative arrangement. The binding energy per atom, second-order energy differences, vertical electron affinity and vertical ionization potential are calculated and discussed. The caculated HOMO-LUMO gaps reveal that the clusters have typical semiconductor characteristics. The analysis of partial density of states suggests that there are strong covalence and molecular characteristics in the clusters.
文摘The study aimed to explore the potential of dietary fats supplementation on the overall goat performance. Three (3) mature rumen-cannulated goats weighting 27.33 ± 1.53 kg housed in individual elevated metabolism stalls with customized fecal and urine collection tools with treatments replicated three times over time following the Complete Randomized Design (CRD). Animal</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">s</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;"> were randomly selected on different dietary treatment at different cycle. For each cycle, animals were provided with 30% concentrate on the morning based on feed requirements {3% of their body weight (BW) dry matter (DM) basis} of the animals. Ad libitum feeding of Napier grass will follow thereafter. Clean drinking water were made available all the times in the respective animal watering troughs. The rumen-cannulated goats were supplemented with different levels of two dietary fats (VCO and Lard) with dietary treatment combinations as follows, Control and VCO and Lard at 3% & 5%. Degradability of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) were collected sequentially in every cycle of the study. There were seven (7) days lag period in every cycle for the animals to return to each natural state. On the 8th day of every cycle, animals were given different dietary treatment. Sequential insertion of nylon bag was done on the 15th to</span><span style="font-family:""> </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">16th day (7 days after treatment). The results showed that degradability of the dry matter (DM) was noticed degraded exponentially on the first twelve hours of incubation and slower down </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">i</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">n the next few hours until 48 hours. Crude protein, acid and neutral detergent fiber showed breakdown of components was observed </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">i</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">n the first 48 hours of incubation. No significant difference (P > 0.05) among treatment means was observed in all parameters gathered. This implies that mature female goat diet cannot be influenced by dietary fats from two different sources (VCO and Lard) at 3% to 5% supplementation. Based on the study conducted, dietary fats supplementation on goats such as VCO and lard given at the maximum level of 5% level did not influence the nutrient degradability of Napier grass in the rumen until it reaches at 48 hours of incubation. Supplementing ruminant diets with dietary fat in goats could increase the energy density of the animal’s diet without adverse effect on rumen degradability. This simple, easy, and basic technique could also be applied to other animal species in pursuit </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;">of</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:12px;"> finding ways to formulate indigenous feedstuff materials that have potential nutritive values. Given the limitations such as the climatic and environmental constraints, this particular study would somehow serve as benchmark in conducting related researches in optimizing the conditions with respect to animal nutrition and feedstuff utilization. Thus, this study was done to augment productivity and to provide new opportunities for achieving enhanced growth performance in a way that alleviates poverty, improves food security and nutrition and promotes sustainable use of natural resources.

文摘The present study focuses on the analysis and description of lineaments interpreted as secondary structures to describe the nature of Senegalo Malian Discontinuity. These lineaments cross-cut the large north-south oriented transcurrent lithospheric structure known as the Senegalo Malian Discontinuity (SMD). Two lineaments were selected oriented NNE (N15˚ to N25˚), one at Dialafara and one at Sadiola. Four profiles on each lineament of these 2 zones, so that there were 2 on each side of the SMD. The ground data collected were processed using proper parameter and software. Some filters were applied to enhance the signal level. These ground data were later compared to the existing airborne magnetic data for consistency and accuracy using the upward continuation filter. The results show that the quality of ground data is good. In addition, the ground magnetic data show the presence of certain local anomalies that are not visible in the regional data. The analytical signal was also used to determine domain boundaries or possible contact zones. The contact zone can be highlighted on certain profiles such as L300 and L600. The study showed that the west and east sides of the SMD are not the same. Secondary structures become wide when approaching the SMD on both sides. They are also duplicated to the east of the SMD when we move progressively away. In the Dialafara area, the ground magnetic data intersect an interpreted fold. The results of this work confirm the presence of the secondary structures and their evolution in relation to the SMD. The relationships between the secondary structures in the Dailafara and Sadiola zones and their relations with the SMD are highlighted. The technique used in this study, is an important approach to better description and interpreting of regional structures using the secondary structures and proposing a structural model.

文摘AIM:To investigate associations between ethnicity,age and sex and the risk,colon distribution and density scores of diverticular disease(DD).METHODS:Barium enemas were examined in 1000 patients:410 male,590 female;760 whites,62 Asians,44 black africans(BAs),and 134 other blacks(OBs).Risks and diverticula density of left-sided DD(LSDD) and rightsided-component DD(RSCDD = right-sided DD + right and left DD + Pan-DD) were compared using logistic regression.RESULTS:Four hundred and forty-seven patients had DD(322 LSDD and 125 RSCDD).Adjusted risks:(1) LSDD:each year increase in age increased the odds by 6%(95% CI:5-8,SE:0.8%,P < 0.001);Asians:odds ratio(OR):0.23(95% CI:0.10-0.53,SE:0.1,P ≤ 0.001) and OBs:OR:0.25(95% CI:0.14-0.43,SE:0.07,P ≤ 0.001) appeared protected vs Whites;(2) RSCDD:each year increase in age increased the odds by 4%(95% CI:2-6,SE:1%,P < 0.001);females were 0.60 times(95% CI:0.40-0.90,SE:0.12,P = 0.01) less likely than males to have RSCDD;BAs were 3.51 times(95% CI:1.70-7.24,SE:1.30,P < 0.001) more likely than Whites to have RSCDD;and(3) DD density scores:each year increase in age increased the odds of highdensity scores by 4%(95% CI:1-6,SE:1%,P < 0.001);RSCDD was 2.77 times(95% CI:1.39-3.32,SE:0.67,P < 0.001) more likely to be of high density than LSDD.No further signif icant differences were found in the adjusted models.CONCLUSION:Right colonic DD might be more common and has higher diverticula density in the west than previously reported.BAs appear predisposed to DD,whereas other ethnic differences appear conserved following migration.
