To reveal the saddle-type dose effect relationship, we propose a radiation mutagenesis model based on maize nutrition difference resulting from heavy ion ~7Li radiation. Through irradiation mutagenesis, apparent trait selection, amino acids and fatty acids content determination, and modeling, dynamic evolution from microscopic damage and repair initiation to the final macroscopic biological effects are considered simultaneously. The results show that the steady state nature is independent of evolution time and only relates to different radiation doses.Heavy ion ~7Li radiation could effectively cause maize phenotypic variation and could improve nutritional quality.This model not only gives a good fit to the experimental results on most types of amino acids and fatty acids, but also offers an adequate explanation of the experimental phenomenon underlying the saddle-type bimodal dose effect. By combining experimental results with theoretical analyses, we suggest that the synergy of the stimulus effect and momentum transfer is the main cause of the saddle-type dose effect bimodal curve. This provides an effective strategy for conducting maize germplasm innovation. 展开更多

Digital image stabilization technique plays important roles in video surveillance and object acquisition.Many useful electronic image stabilization algorithms have been studied.A real-time algorithm is proposed based on field image gray projection which enables the regional odd and even field image to be projected into x and y directions and thus to get the regional gray projection curves in x and y directions,respectively.For the odd field image channel,motion parameters can be estimated via iterative minimum absolute difference based on two successive field image regional gray projection curves.Then motion compensations can be obtained after using the Kalman filter method.Finally,the odd field image is adjusted according to the compensations.In the mean time,motion compensation is applied to the even field image channel with the odd field image gray projection curves of the current frame.By minimizing absolute difference between odd and even field image gray projection curves of the current frame,the inter-field motion parameters can be estimated.Therefore,the even field image can be adjusted by combining the inter-field motion parameters and the odd field compensations.Finally,the stabilized image sequence can be obtained by synthesizing the adjusted odd and even field images.Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can run in real-time and have a good stabilization performance.In addition,image blurring can be improved. 展开更多

The central wavelength from CLCs can be tuned by the electric field or temperature. For the electric field tuning, the ITO is designed with circular patterns, which can make the tunable range 18 nm. For the temperature tuning, two-layer- CLC configurations are used. The experimental results indicate that a deepened or broadened bandgap from the CLC can be achieved by different handedness or concentrations of chiral dopants. A lot of patients have somatic and mental disorders at various degrees. The primary standard can only reflect partial conditions of somatic disorder; in addition, multiple dimensions of patients at the phase of stroke convalescence are further observed by using a lot of standards, such as signs and symptoms of traditional Chinese medicine, daily activity and psychological status. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the outcome assessments of the cases of stroke convalescence measured with different criteria consisting of various dimensions by a cross-sectional investigation of the condition of stroke convalescent patients. DESIGN: Scale evaluation. SETTING: Departments of Clinical Epidemiology Exploratory Development and Neurology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; National Center for Training of Design, Measurement and Evaluation in Clinical Research,Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 194 stroke convalescent patients treated in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from July 26, 2000 to February 28, 2001 were taken as subjects of the study. There were 126 males and 68 females aged from 40 to 89 years, and the illness course ranged from 14 to 181 days. All patients met diagnosis-treatment criteria of stroke (the second version)[DTCS(V2.0)] and various kinds of diagnostic points of cerebrovascular diseases; moreover, all patients provided confirmed consents. METHODS: They were assessed by assessment methods including the following assessment instruments: DTCS(V2.0), self-designed scale of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) symptoms (28 symptoms and physical signs were scored as 0, 1, 2 marks from none to severity), modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale (a total of 45 marks, 0 to 15 marks as mild defect, 16 to 30 as moderate defect, 31 to 45 as severe defect), modified Barthel activities of daily life (ADL) index (a total of 100 marks, less than 60 marks as unable self-care), vitality and mental health (subscales derived from Health Survey Questionnaire, SF-36). The collected data from scales and inter-scale correlation were processed by the statistic methods mainly including descriptive analysis, Spearmen correlation analysis, factor analysis, etc. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Average scores of scales and criteria; ② correlation between modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale and other scales. RESULTS: All of the patients completed the assessment, and analyzed in the final analysis. ① The average scores of the scales and criteria: The average scores of DTCS(V2.0), self-designed scale of TCM symptoms, modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale, modified Barthel ADL index, vitality and mental health scales were 6.51±6.29, 13.73±6.97, 7.56±7.35, 63.58±23.68, 52.79±23.32 and 62.83±22.75 respectively. ② Correlation between modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale and other scales: The Spearman correlation coefficients (R ’) of modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale with diagnosis-treatment criteria of stroke, scales of TCM symptoms, modified Barthel ADL index, vitality scale and mental health scale were 20.885, 0.302, -0.824, -0.294 and -0.258 respectively. CONCLUSION: The modified Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale and DTCS(V2.0) shared the same assessment dimension, so they can be mutually alternated in some clinical practices. Discrepancy in measurements of health status was gained due to the diverse dimensions applied in outcome assessments. It is necessary to build up a multi-dimensional assessment criteria system, such as signs and symptoms, daily activities and psychological status, for assessing the stroke convalescent cases in a more comprehensive scope and reflecting the efficacy of TCM treatment scientifically. 展开更多

Newton's polynomial interpolation may be the favourite linear interpolation in the sense that it is built up by means of the divided differences which can be calculated recursively and produce useful intermediate results. However Newton interpolation is in fact point based interpolation since a new interpolating polynomial with one more degree is obtained by adding a new support point into the current set of support points once at a time. In this paper we extend the point based interpolation to the block based interpolation. Inspired by the idea of the modern architectural design, we first divide the original set of support points into some subsets (blocks), then construct each block by using whatever interpolation means, linear or rational and finally assemble these blocks by Newton's method to shape the whole interpolation scheme. Clearly our method offers many flexible interpolation schemes for choices which include the classical Newton's polynomial interpolation as its special case. A bivariate analogy is also discussed and numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of our method. 展开更多

We demonstrated stable midinfrared(MIR) optical frequency comb at the 3.0 μm region with difference frequency generation pumped by a high power, Er-doped, ultrashort pulse fiber laser system. A soliton mode-locked161 MHz high repetition rate fiber laser using a single wall carbon nanotube was fabricated. The output pulse was amplified in an Er-doped single mode fiber amplifier, and a 1.1–2.2 μm wideband supercontinuum(SC) with an average power of 205 m W was generated in highly nonlinear fiber. The spectrogram of the generated SC was examined both experimentally and numerically. The generated SC was focused into a nonlinear crystal, and stable generation of MIR comb around the 3 μm wavelength region was realized. 展开更多

The progress achieved on power scaling and compact and portable THz sources is reviewed.By reversely stacking the GaP plates,the photon conversion efficiency is improved from 25% to 40% which corresponds to the maximum value.When the number of the plates is increased from four to five,the output power decreases because of back conversion.The THz generation is also investigated by mixing the two frequencies generated by a single Nd:YLF solid-state laser.The average output power reaches 1 μW.The introduction of two Nd:YLF crystals significantly improves the output power to 4.5 μW.This configuration facilitates the generation of different output frequencies. 展开更多

We report the investigation on the performance of an amplification assisted difference frequency generation(AA-DFG) system driven by pulsed pump and continuous-wave primary signal lasers. A monolithic tandem lithium niobate superlattice was employed as the nonlinear crystal with a uniform grating section for the DFG process, followed by a chirp section for the optical parametric amplification process. The impacts of pump pulse shape, primary signal power, input beam diameter, and crystal structure on the pump-to-idler conversion efficiency of the AA-DFG system were comprehensively studied by numerically solving the coupled wave equations. It is concluded that square pump pulse and high primary signal power are beneficial to high pump-to-idler conversion efficiency. In addition, tighter input beam focus and smaller DFG length proportion could redeem the reduction in conversion efficiency resulting from wider acceptance bandwidths for the input lasers. We believe that such systems combining the merits of high stability inherited from cavity-free configuration and high efficiency attributed from the cascaded nonlinear conversion should be of great interest to a wide community,especially when the pulse shaping technique is incorporated. 展开更多
