Accurate and reliable fault detection is essential for the safe operation of electric vehicles.Support vector data description(SVDD)has been widely used in the field of fault detection.However,constructing the hypersp...Accurate and reliable fault detection is essential for the safe operation of electric vehicles.Support vector data description(SVDD)has been widely used in the field of fault detection.However,constructing the hypersphere boundary only describes the distribution of unlabeled samples,while the distribution of faulty samples cannot be effectively described and easilymisses detecting faulty data due to the imbalance of sample distribution.Meanwhile,selecting parameters is critical to the detection performance,and empirical parameterization is generally timeconsuming and laborious and may not result in finding the optimal parameters.Therefore,this paper proposes a semi-supervised data-driven method based on which the SVDD algorithm is improved and achieves excellent fault detection performance.By incorporating faulty samples into the underlying SVDD model,training deals better with the problem of missing detection of faulty samples caused by the imbalance in the distribution of abnormal samples,and the hypersphere boundary ismodified to classify the samplesmore accurately.The Bayesian Optimization NSVDD(BO-NSVDD)model was constructed to quickly and accurately optimize hyperparameter combinations.In the experiments,electric vehicle operation data with four common fault types are used to evaluate the performance with other five models,and the results show that the BO-NSVDD model presents superior detection performance for each type of fault data,especially in the imperceptible early and minor faults,which has seen very obvious advantages.Finally,the strong robustness of the proposed method is verified by adding different intensities of noise in the dataset.展开更多

Genetic algorithm (GA) is one of modern optimization techniques that has been successfully applied in various areas of power systems. To enhance the ability of GA to prevent trapping in? local optima and increase convergence in a global optima, the crossover probability (pcross) and the mutation probability (pmut), parameters in GA, are tuned using interval type-2 fuzzy logic (IT2FL). A robust single-sensor global maximum power point tracking(MPPT)strategy based on modern optimization for photovoltaic systems considering shading conditions is proposed in this work.The proposed strategy is designed ...A robust single-sensor global maximum power point tracking(MPPT)strategy based on modern optimization for photovoltaic systems considering shading conditions is proposed in this work.The proposed strategy is designed for battery charging applications and direct current(DC)microgrids.Under normal operation,the curve of photovoltaic(PV)output power versus PV voltage contains only a single peak point.This point can be simply captured using any traditional tracking method like perturb and observe.However,this situation is completely different during the shadowing effect where several peaks appear on the power voltage curve.Most of these peaks are local with only a single global.This condition leads to the incapability of traditional tracking approaches to extract the global peak power due to their inability to distinguish between the local and global peak points.They are trapped in the first peak point even when the point is local.Therefore,global tracking approaches based on modern optimization are highly required.A recent marine predators algorithm(MPA)has been used to solve the problem of tracking the global MPP under shadowing influence.Different shadowing scenarios are used to test and evaluate the performance of MPA based tracker.The obtained results are compared with particle swarm optimization(PSO)and ant lion optimizer(ALO).The results of the comparison con-firmed the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed global MPPT-MPA based tracker over PSO and ALO.展开更多

The integration of battery energy storage systems(BESS)throughout our energy chain poses concerns regarding safety,especially since batteries have high energy density and numerous BESS failure events have occurred.Wid...The integration of battery energy storage systems(BESS)throughout our energy chain poses concerns regarding safety,especially since batteries have high energy density and numerous BESS failure events have occurred.Wider spread adoption will only increase the prevalence of these failure events unless there is a step change in the management and design of BESS.To understand the causes of failure,the main challenges of BESS safety are summarised.BESS consequences and failure events are discussed,including specific focus on the chain of events causing thermal runaway,and a case study of a BESS explosion in Surprise Arizona is analysed.Based on the technology and past events,a paradigm shift is required to improve BESS safety.In this review,a holistic approach is proposed.This combines currently adopted approaches including battery cell testing,lumped cell mathematical modelling,and calorimetry,alongside additional measures taken to ensure BESS safety including the requirement for computational fluid dynamics and kinetic modelling,assessment of installation level testing of the full BESS system and not simply a single cell battery test,hazard and layers of protection analysis,gas chromatography,and composition testing.The holistic approach proposed in this study aims to address challenges of BESS safety and form the basis of a paradigm shift in the safety management and design of these systems.展开更多

The serpentine tube liquid cooling and composite PCM coupled cooling thermal management system is designed for 18650 cylindrical power batteries,with the maximum temperature and temperature difference of the power pac...The serpentine tube liquid cooling and composite PCM coupled cooling thermal management system is designed for 18650 cylindrical power batteries,with the maximum temperature and temperature difference of the power pack within the optimal temperature operating range as the target.The initial analysis of the battery pack at a 5C discharge rate,the influence of the single cell to cooling tube distance,the number of cooling tubes,inlet coolant temperature,the coolant flow rate,and other factors on the heat dissipation performance of the battery pack,initially determined a reasonable value for each design parameter.A control strategy is used to regulate the inlet flow rate and coolant temperature of the liquid cooling system in order to make full use of the latent heat of the composite PCM and reduce the pump’s energy consumption.The simulation results show that the maximum battery pack temperature of 309.8 K and the temperature difference of 4.6 K between individual cells with the control strategy are in the optimal temperature operating range of the power battery,and the utilization rate of the composite PCM is up to 90%.展开更多
This paper studies the feasibility of a supply-side wind-coal integrated energy system.Based on grid-side data,the load regulation model of coal-fired power and the wind-coal integrated energy system model are establi...This paper studies the feasibility of a supply-side wind-coal integrated energy system.Based on grid-side data,the load regulation model of coal-fired power and the wind-coal integrated energy system model are established.According to the simulation results,the reasons why the wind-coal combined power supply is difficult to meet the grid-side demand are revealedthrough scenario analysis.Basedon thewind-coal combinedoperation,a wind-coalstorage integrated energy system was proposed by adding lithium-iron phosphate battery energy storage system(LIPBESS)to adjust the load of the system.According to the four load adjustment scenarios of grid-side instructions of the wind-coal system,the difficulty of load adjustment in each scenario is analyzed.Based on the priority degree of LIPBESS charge/discharge in four scenarios at different time periods,the operation mode of two charges and two discharges per day was developed.Based on the independent operation level of coal-fired power,after the addition of LIPBESS(5.5 MWh),the average qualified rate of multi-power operation in March and June reached the level of independent operation of coal-fired power,while the average qualified rate of the remaining months was only 5.4%different from that of independent operation of coal-fired power.Compared with the wind storage mode,the energy storage capacity and investment cost of wind-coal-storage integrated energy system are reduced by 54.2%and 53.7%,respectively.展开更多

文摘The present and future energy requirements of mankind can be fulfilled with sustained research and development efforts by global scientists.The purpose of this review paper is to provide an overview of the fundamentals,recent advancements on Lithium and non-Lithium electrochemical rechargeable battery systems,and their future prospects.The initial part of this review paper is dedicated to the advancement and challenges faced by the conventional rechargeable batteries,such as lead-acid,Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries.The subsequent section of this review focuses on an in-depth analysis of two major categories of rechargeable batteries,namely lithium-based rechargeable battery systems and alternative non-Lithium rechargeable battery systems.The working principle,construction,and a few important research progress on Li-ion,Li-O_(2),Li-CO_(2) and Li-S batteries have been highlighted.The recent progress and challenges of the alternate batteries such as Na-ion,Na-S,Mg-ion,K-ion,Al-ion,Al-air,Zn-ion and Zn-air are also discussed in this review.The large gap between theoretical and practical electrochemical values for the alternate battery system must be filled by adopting a series of design architectures followed by modern instrumentation for developing next-generation batteries in a sustainable and efficient way.

文摘Structurally compact battery packs significantly improve the driving range of electric vehicles.Technologies like Cell-to-Pack increase energy density by 15%-20%.However,the safety implications of multiple tightly-packed battery cells still require in-depth research.This paper studies thermal runaway propagation behavior in a Cell-to-Pack system and assesses propagation speed relative to other systems.The investigation includes temperature response,extent of battery damage,pack structure deformation,chemical analysis of debris,and other considerations.Results suggest three typical patterns for the thermal runaway propagation process:ordered,disordered,and synchronous.The synchronous propagation pattern displayed the most severe damage,indicating energy release is the largest under the synchronous pattern.This study identifies battery deformation patterns,chemical characteristics of debris,and other observed factors that can both be applied to identify the cause of thermal runaway during accident investigations and help promote safer designs of large battery packs used in large-scale electric energy storage systems.

文摘In situ and operando infrared spectroscopies are powerful techniques to support the design of novel materials for batteries and the development of new battery systems.These techniques can support the study of batteries by identifying the formation of new species and monitoring electrochemical energy stability.However,few works have employed these techniques,which can be used to investigate various materials,including systems beyond lithium-ion technology,in the research of batteries.Therefore,this review presents a comprehensive overview focusing on the main contributions of in situ and operando infrared spectroscopy for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)and other battery systems.These techniques can successfully identify the formation of species during the electrolyte reduction,electrode degradation,and the formation of the solid-electrolyte interphase(SEI)layer.From these outcomes,it is possible to conclude that this characterization approach should be employed as a protocol to overcome remaining issues in batteries,consequently supporting battery research.This review aims to be a guide on how infrared spectroscopy can contribute to monitoring battery systems and to lead researchers interested in applying this technique.

文摘To address the frequency fluctuation problem caused by the power dynamic imbalance between the power system and the loadwhen a large number of newenergy sources are connected to the grid,a two-layer fuzzy control strategy is proposed for the participation of the energy storage battery system in FM.Firstly,considering the coordination of FM units responding to automatic power generation control commands,a comprehensive allocation strategy of two signals under automatic power generation control commands is proposed to give full play to the advantages of two FM signals while enabling better coordination of two FM units responding to FM commands;secondly,based on the grid FM demand and battery FM capability,a double-layer fuzzy control strategy is proposed for FM units responding to automatic power generation control commands in a coordinated manner under dual-signal allocation mode to precisely allocate the power output depth of FM units,which can control the fluctuation of frequency deviation within a smaller range at a faster speed while maintaining the battery charge state;finally,the proposed Finally,the proposed control strategy is simulated and verified inMatlab/Simulink.The results show that the proposed control strategy can control the frequency deviation within a smaller range in a shorter time,better stabilize the fluctuation of the battery charge level,and improve the utilization of the FM unit.
文摘Recently, a new type of IMM (interacting multiple model) method was introduced based on the relatively new SVSF (smooth variable structure filter), and is referred to as the IMM-SVSF. The SVSF is a type of sliding mode estimator that is formulated in a predictor-corrector fashion. This strategy keeps the estimated state bounded within a region of the true state trajectory, thus creating a stable and robust estimation process. The IMM method may be utilized for fault detection and diagnosis, and is classified as a model-based method. In this paper, for the purposes of fault detection, the IMM-SVSF is applied through simulation on a simple battery system which is modeled from a hybrid electric vehicle.

文摘Due to its high theoretical capacity(820 mAh g^(−1)),low standard electrode potential(−0.76 V vs.SHE),excellent stability in aqueous solutions,low cost,environmental friendliness and intrinsically high safety,zinc(Zn)-based batteries have attracted much attention in developing new energy storage devices.In Zn battery system,the battery performance is significantly affected by the solid electrolyte interface(SEI),which is controlled by electrode and electrolyte,and attracts dendrite growth,electrochemical stability window range,metallic Zn anode corrosion and passivation,and electrolyte mutations.Therefore,the design of SEI is decisive for the overall performance of Zn battery systems.This paper summarizes the formation mechanism,the types and characteristics,and the characterization techniques associated with SEI.Meanwhile,we analyze the influence of SEI on battery performance,and put forward the design strategies of SEI.Finally,the future research of SEI in Zn battery system is prospected to seize the nature of SEI,improve the battery performance and promote the large-scale application.
文摘Many countries have been triggered to provide a new energy policy which promotes renewable energy applications because of public awareness to reduce the global warming and rising in fuel prices. Renewable energy sources such as solar energy are green and promising energy in the future for widespread use. Combining renewable energy sources with battery makes electricity supply more economical and reliable to meet all possible load level. This paper proposed a new hybrid method to optimize Photovoltaic (PV)-Battery systems. The proposed method was named Interval type-2 fuzzy adaptive genetic algorithm (IT2FAGA). Genetic algorithm (GA) is one of modern optimization techniques that has been successfully applied in various areas of power systems. To enhance the ability of GA to prevent trapping in? local optima and increase convergence in a global optima, the crossover probability (pcross) and the mutation probability (pmut), parameters in GA, are tuned using interval type-2 fuzzy logic (IT2FL). Objective function used in this paper was the annual cost of sytem (ACS) consisting of the annual capital cost (ACC), annual replacement cost (ARC), annual operation cost maintenance (AOM). The proposed method was also compared to fuzzy adaptive genetic algorithm (FGA) and standard genetic algorithm (SGA). Simulation results indicated that the
文摘Renewable energies, such as solar and wind power, are increasingly being introduced as alternative energy sources on a glosbal scale toward a low-carbon society. For the next generation power network, which uses a large number of these distributed power generation sources, energy storage technologies will be indispensable. Among these technologies, battery energy storage technology is considered to be most viable. Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. has developed a redox flow battery system suitable for large scale energy storage, and carried out several demonstration projects on the stabilization of renewable energy output using the redox flow battery system. This paper describes the advantages of the redox flow battery and reviews the demonstration projects.

文摘The paper gives an overview on the need for smart coupling for battery management in grid integrated renewable energy system (RES). Grid integrated photovoltaic (PV) battery system, as being popular and extensively used has been discussed in the paper. Smart coupling refers to intelligent grid integration such that it can foresee local network conditions and issue battery power flow management strategy accordingly to shave the peak PV and peak load. Therefore, a need for predictive energy management arises for smart integration to the grid and supervision of the power flow in accordance to the grid conditions. This is also a running project at the Institute of Energy Systems (INES), Offenburg University of Applied Science, Germany since January, 2015. The paper should provide insights to the motivation, need and gives an outlook to the features of desired predictive energy management system (PEMS).

文摘A robust single-sensor global maximum power point tracking(MPPT)strategy based on modern optimization for photovoltaic systems considering shading conditions is proposed in this work.The proposed strategy is designed for battery charging applications and direct current(DC)microgrids.Under normal operation,the curve of photovoltaic(PV)output power versus PV voltage contains only a single peak point.This point can be simply captured using any traditional tracking method like perturb and observe.However,this situation is completely different during the shadowing effect where several peaks appear on the power voltage curve.Most of these peaks are local with only a single global.This condition leads to the incapability of traditional tracking approaches to extract the global peak power due to their inability to distinguish between the local and global peak points.They are trapped in the first peak point even when the point is local.Therefore,global tracking approaches based on modern optimization are highly required.A recent marine predators algorithm(MPA)has been used to solve the problem of tracking the global MPP under shadowing influence.Different shadowing scenarios are used to test and evaluate the performance of MPA based tracker.The obtained results are compared with particle swarm optimization(PSO)and ant lion optimizer(ALO).The results of the comparison con-firmed the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed global MPPT-MPA based tracker over PSO and ALO.

文摘Because of their advantages of high energy and power density,low self-discharge rate,and long lifespan,lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)have been widely used in many applications such as electric vehicles,energy storage systems,smart grids,etc.However,lithium-ion battery systems(LIBSs)frequently malfunction because of complex working conditions,harsh operating environment,battery inconsistency,and inherent defects in battery cells.Thus,safety of LIBSs has become a prominent problem and has attracted wide attention.Therefore,efficient and accurate fault diagnosis for LIBs is very important.This paper provides a comprehensive review of the latest re-search progress in fault diagnosis for LIBs.First,the types of battery faults are comprehensively introduced and the characteristics of each fault are analyzed.Then,the fault diagnosis methods are systematically elaborated,including model-based,data processing-based,machine learn-ing-based and knowledge-based methods.The latest re-search is discussed and existing issues and challenges are presented,while future developments are also prospected.The aim is to promote further researches into efficient and advanced fault diagnosis methods for more reliable and safer LIBs.Index Terms—Battery management system,battery safety,fault diagnosis,lithium-ion battery system.

文摘Due to the fluctuation and intermittency of distributed PV generation,battery energy storage is required with higher renewable installation towards carbon neutrality.Thus,the photovoltaic battery(PVB)system receives increasing attention.This study provides a critical review on PVB system design optimization,including system component sizing and strategy improvement studies,from mathematical modeling,evaluation system establish-ment to feasibility and optimization studies.Several PVB simulation software packages are compared and eval-uated,and acknowledged system models are presented.The evaluation indicators are summarized from various aspects with cases of various evaluation systems combining different indicators or using the Pareto front for multi-criteria system designing.The PVB system feasibility study is analyzed from system configuration varia-tion,critical technical and economic parameter analyses,rule-based operation strategies to future expectations like large-scale energy storage profitability,grid parity,and energy community trading platform.The targets,methods,tariffand time resolution influences,and PVB system capacity optimization design recommendations are critically discussed.The research directions for system operation development and future expectations are analyzed from system feasibility,flexibility to resilience.The co-planning of PVB system capacity and operation design optimization makes the problem complicated,leading to relatively short time resolution but more flexi-bility to system operation strategy.This study could provide guidance and references to distributed PVB system future design and optimization studies.

文摘With the increasing attention paid to battery technology,the microscopic reaction mechanism and macroscopic heat transfer process of lithium-ion batteries have been further studied and understood from both academic and industrial perspectives.Temperature,as one of the key parameters in the physical fra mework of batteries,affects the performa nce of the multi-physical fields within the battery,a nd its effective control is crucial.Since the heat generation in the battery is determined by the real-time operating conditions,the battery temperature is essentially controlled by the real-time heat dissipation conditions provided by the battery thermal management system.Conventional battery thermal management systems have basic temperature control capabilities for most conventional application scenarios.However,with the current development of la rge-scale,integrated,and intelligent battery technology,the adva ncement of battery thermal management technology will pay more attention to the effective control of battery temperature under sophisticated situations,such as high power and widely varied operating conditions.In this context,this paper presents the latest advances and representative research related to battery thermal management system.Firstly,starting from battery thermal profile,the mechanism of battery heat generation is discussed in detail.Secondly,the static characteristics of the traditional battery thermal management system are summarized.Then,considering the dynamic requirements of battery heat dissipation under complex operating conditions,the concept of adaptive battery thermal management system is proposed based on specific research cases.Finally,the main challenges for battery thermal management system in practice are identified,and potential future developments to overcome these challenges are presented and discussed.
文摘The integration of battery energy storage systems(BESS)throughout our energy chain poses concerns regarding safety,especially since batteries have high energy density and numerous BESS failure events have occurred.Wider spread adoption will only increase the prevalence of these failure events unless there is a step change in the management and design of BESS.To understand the causes of failure,the main challenges of BESS safety are summarised.BESS consequences and failure events are discussed,including specific focus on the chain of events causing thermal runaway,and a case study of a BESS explosion in Surprise Arizona is analysed.Based on the technology and past events,a paradigm shift is required to improve BESS safety.In this review,a holistic approach is proposed.This combines currently adopted approaches including battery cell testing,lumped cell mathematical modelling,and calorimetry,alongside additional measures taken to ensure BESS safety including the requirement for computational fluid dynamics and kinetic modelling,assessment of installation level testing of the full BESS system and not simply a single cell battery test,hazard and layers of protection analysis,gas chromatography,and composition testing.The holistic approach proposed in this study aims to address challenges of BESS safety and form the basis of a paradigm shift in the safety management and design of these systems.

文摘In the scope of developing new electrochemical concepts to build batteries with high energy density,chloride ion batteries(CIBs)have emerged as a candidate for the next generation of novel electrochemical energy storage technologies,which show the potential in matching or even surpassing the current lithium metal batteries in terms of energy density,dendrite-free safety,and elimination of the dependence on the strained lithium and cobalt resources.However,the development of CIBs is still at the initial stage with unsatisfactory performance and several challenges have hindered them from reaching commercialization.In this review,we examine the current advances of CIBs by considering the electrode material design to the electrolyte,thus outlining the new opportunities of aqueous CIBs especially combined with desalination,chloride redox battery,etc.With respect to the developing road of lithium ion and fluoride ion batteries,the possibility of using solid-state chloride ion conductors to replace liquid electrolytes is tentatively discussed.Going beyond,perspectives and clear suggestions are concluded by highlighting the major obstacles and by prescribing specific research topics to inspire more efforts for CIBs in large-scale energy storage applications.

文摘Garnet solid electrolytes are one of the most promising electrolytes for solid-state batteries.However,Li_(2)CO_(3) is a critical issue that hinders the practical application of garnet-based solid-state lithium-ion batteries.There are two sources of Li_(2)CO_(3) contamination.The main one is the aging of garnet electrolytes in the atmosphere.Garnet electrolytes can react with H_(2)O and CO_(2) in the air to form Li_(2)CO_(3),which reduces ion conductivity,increases electrode/garnet electrolyte interface resistance,and deteriorates the electrochemical performance of the battery.Various strategies,such as elemental doping,grain boundary manipulation,and interface engineering,have been suggested to address these issues.The other is the passivation layer(Li_(2)CO_(3),Li_3N,LiOH,Li_(2)O) formed on the surface of the lithium foil after long-term storage,which is ignored by most researchers.To better understand the current strategies and future trends to address the Li_(2)CO_(3) problem,this perspective provides a systematic review of journals published in this field from 2020-2023.

文摘A thorough understanding of the fundamental electrochemical and chemical processes in batteries is crucial to advancing energy density and power density.However,the characterizations of such processes are complex.In-situ electrochemical nuclear magnetic resonance(EC-NMR)offers the capability to collect real-time data during battery operation,furnishing insights into the local structures and ionic dynamics of materials by monitoring changes in the chemical environment around the nuclei.EC-NMR also has the advantages of being both quantitative and non-destructive.This paper systematically reviews the design of EC-NMR approach,and delves into the applications and progress of EC-NMR concerning battery reaction mechanisms,failure mechanisms,and overall battery systems.The review culminates in a comprehensive summary of the perspective and challenges associated with EC-NMR.

文摘The serpentine tube liquid cooling and composite PCM coupled cooling thermal management system is designed for 18650 cylindrical power batteries,with the maximum temperature and temperature difference of the power pack within the optimal temperature operating range as the target.The initial analysis of the battery pack at a 5C discharge rate,the influence of the single cell to cooling tube distance,the number of cooling tubes,inlet coolant temperature,the coolant flow rate,and other factors on the heat dissipation performance of the battery pack,initially determined a reasonable value for each design parameter.A control strategy is used to regulate the inlet flow rate and coolant temperature of the liquid cooling system in order to make full use of the latent heat of the composite PCM and reduce the pump’s energy consumption.The simulation results show that the maximum battery pack temperature of 309.8 K and the temperature difference of 4.6 K between individual cells with the control strategy are in the optimal temperature operating range of the power battery,and the utilization rate of the composite PCM is up to 90%.

文摘This paper studies the feasibility of a supply-side wind-coal integrated energy system.Based on grid-side data,the load regulation model of coal-fired power and the wind-coal integrated energy system model are established.According to the simulation results,the reasons why the wind-coal combined power supply is difficult to meet the grid-side demand are revealedthrough scenario analysis.Basedon thewind-coal combinedoperation,a wind-coalstorage integrated energy system was proposed by adding lithium-iron phosphate battery energy storage system(LIPBESS)to adjust the load of the system.According to the four load adjustment scenarios of grid-side instructions of the wind-coal system,the difficulty of load adjustment in each scenario is analyzed.Based on the priority degree of LIPBESS charge/discharge in four scenarios at different time periods,the operation mode of two charges and two discharges per day was developed.Based on the independent operation level of coal-fired power,after the addition of LIPBESS(5.5 MWh),the average qualified rate of multi-power operation in March and June reached the level of independent operation of coal-fired power,while the average qualified rate of the remaining months was only 5.4%different from that of independent operation of coal-fired power.Compared with the wind storage mode,the energy storage capacity and investment cost of wind-coal-storage integrated energy system are reduced by 54.2%and 53.7%,respectively.
