However, the correlation between the predicted residual stresses and the shot peening coverage, which is a big challenge for the researchers of the symmetrical cell model, is still not established. Based on the dynamic stresses and the residual stresses outputted from the symmetrical cell model, the residual stresses corresponding to full coverage are evalu- ated by normal distribution analysis. The predicted nodal dynamic stresses with respect to four corner points indicate that the equi-biaxial stress state exists only for the first shot impact. Along with the increase of shot number, the interactions of multiple shot impacts make the fluctuation of the nodal dynamic stresses about an almost identical value more and more obvious. The mean values and standard deviations of the residual stresses gradually tend to be stable with the increase of the number of shot peening series. The mean values at each corner point are almost the same after the third peening series, which means that an equi-biaxial stress state corresponding to the full coverage of shot peening is achieved. Therefore, the mean values of the nodal residual stresses with respect to a specific transverse cross-section below the peened surface can be used to correlate the measured data by X-ray. The predicted residual stress profile agrees with the experimental results very well under 200% peening coverage. An effective correlation method is proposed for the nodal residual stresses predicted by the symmetrical cell model and the shot peening coverage.展开更多

First, expressions for an associated flow rule with a failure criterion are developed for biaxial stress conditions, which are implemented into FLAC3D code. A three-dimensional(3D) mine model encompassing a fault running parallel to a steeply dipping orebody is constructed, whereby static and dynamic analyses are performed to extract stopes and simulate fault-slip in dynamic condition, respectively. In the analysis, the developed biaxial model is applied to the stope wall. The fault-slip simulation is performed, considering shearing of fault surface asperities and resultant stress drop driving the fault-slip. Two methodologies to evaluate damage caused by seismic waves arising from the simulated fault-slip are examined:(i) the ratio of dynamic plastic strain increment to elastic strain limit and(ii) plastic strain energy density. For the former one, two types of strain increments are tested, namely effective shear strain increment and volumetric strain increment. The results indicate that volumetric strain increment is a suitable index for detecting damage near the stope wall, while effective shear strain increment is appropriate for evaluating damage in backfill. The evaluation method with plastic strain energy density is found to be capable of assessing damage accumulated in an extensive area caused by rock mass oscillation due to seismic wave propagation. Possible damage to mine developments in the proximity of a stope is clearly described with the index. The comparison of the two methods clarifies that the former one assesses "instantaneous" damage, which is found to be different from "accumulated" damage calculated using plastic strain energy density, in terms of damage area and its location. It is thus concluded that the combination of the two methodologies leads to more accurate damage assessment as a proper measure against rockburst.展开更多

The results show that.when the residual stress in the transverse direction is involved, the surface yield strength should be evaluated with biaxial Mises criterion. For a medium carbon high strength steel, the yield strength of the bulk material is 581 MPa and the surface yield strengths for 0.05% and 0.1%plastic strain are about 436 MPa and 463 MPa respectively. The 0.05% yield strength will approximately increase to 788 MPa after shot peening. In the early stage of plastic deformation, strain hardening in the surface layer is quite different from that of the bulk sample.展开更多

It is indicated that the SRs of acoustic phonon and non-polar optical phonon decrease under the strain, and the total SR in strained Si1-x Gex/(100)Si also decreases obviously with increasing Ge fraction(x). Moreover, the total SR continues to show a constant tendency when x is less than 0.3. In comparison with bulk Si, the total SR of strained Si1-x Gex/(100) Si decreases by about 58%.展开更多

But few researches had been developed for the study of corroded RC eccentric especially little eccentric compressive members. By discussing the effect of factors, such as decrease of concrete strength in biaxial stress condition during pre-cracking stage and torsion buckling of local cracking concrete during post-cracking stage, on the bearing capacity of little eccentric RC members, the model of bearing capacity is established respectively, which the cracking damage coefficient of concrete k is suggested to be 0.15 in post-cracking stage. The experimental certification shows: model calculation fits well with experimental result, which proves the effectiveness of the model in this paper.展开更多

The HPC specimens were prepared with three different mix proportions, which corresponds to three different uniaxial compressive strengths. The cubic specimens with size of 100 mm for each edge were tested with servo-hydraulic actuators at different stress ratios. The principal stresses and strains of the specimens were recorded, and the failure of the cubic specimens under various stress states was examined. The experimental results indicated that the stress states and stress ratios had significant influence on the strength and deformation of HPC under biaxial and triaxial compression, especially under triaxial compression. Failure criteria were proposed for the HPC specimens under biaxial and triaxial compressive loading. The test results provided a valuable reference for obtaining multi-axial constitutive law for HPC.展开更多
