Objective criteria beyond growth in serial MRIs or angiographies are needed. The use of black blood MRI is currently under investigation for evaluating the rupture risk of cerebral aneurysms, however its use for assessment of AVMs has yet to be evaluated. We therefore conducted a feasibility study on the application of black blood MRI (bbMRI) in AVMs to assess rupture risk. Methods: Retrospective study of 10 patients with intracranial AVMs and 4 patients with arteriovenous fistulas who received a black blood MRI before treatment. Results: AVM niduses (9/10) show contrast enhancement irrespective of rupture or size. All arteriovenous fistulas (4/4) were contrast enhancing irrespective of rupture. Conclusion: High flow malformations are in a permanent stage of inflammation which does not seem to allow conclusions on their rupture risk at the current stage. BbMRI is a feasible method of identifying inflammation in AVMs and arteriovenous fistulas. However, future prospective studies are needed to evaluate whether bbMRI contrast enhancement correlates with rupture risk.展开更多

Inflammation is suggested to be a key contributor to aneurysm rupture; however it is unclear whether inflammation contributes similarly to bleeding of cerebral cavernous malformations (CCMs). Black blood MRI is a sequence which identifies inflammation in blood vessel walls and in the present study is used to detect inflammatory response in CCMs. Methods: Fifteen patients with 17 CCMs treated in our department in 2017 were retrospectively analysed. All patients received black blood MRIs and the results were analysed in correlation with, size and bleeding of CCMs. Results: Size and bleeding status of CCMs did not correlate with contrast enhancement in the CCM wall. One of 3 patients with bleeding displayed contrast enhancement in black blood MRI, whereas the others had non enhancing lesions. Because of the small number of cases a statistical analysis was not performed. Conclusion: In this limited cohort, inflammatory reactions in CCMs could not be detected by black blood MRI suggesting that the level of inflammation is minimal in these lesions and those different patho-mechanisms play a more important role in the rupture of CCMs.展开更多

[Method]Whole blood samples were collected from 40 Asiatic black bears in Fujian Province,China. Tube method was used to detect antibodies in plasma,and antibody isotype was determined with 2-mercaptoethanol. Plasma was further analyzed by mass spectrometry. [Result] The plasma from four black bears had antibodies,possibly Ig M isoform,which could agglutinate RBCs from 30 bears. Blood samples from 10 bears were tested by human blood typing reagents. The results showed that four black bears had blood type like human type O,while six bears had like human type B. Mass spectrometry results demonstrated that plasma protein had extensive homology to serum albumin-like isoform 1 found in giant panda( Ailuropoda melanoleuca). [Conclusion]Asiatic black bear might have at least one blood group system with two blood types. If the sick bear needs blood transfusion,a cross-matching test is necessary. The authors conducted a retrospective study over a period of 6 months in a hypertensive population in order to determine the correlation between serum uric acid on glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and estimated serum ...The authors conducted a retrospective study over a period of 6 months in a hypertensive population in order to determine the correlation between serum uric acid on glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and estimated serum potassium with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and obesity. This study enrolled 122 patients including 63 women (51.6%). The mean age was 55.9 ± 10.6 years (range 30 to 74 years). Obesity weight was found in 38 cases (31.1%) of which 20?were men (33.9%) and 18 women (28.6%). Abdominal obesity was found in 104 cases (85.2%). The average serum uric acid in patients with obesity weight was 63.3 ± 18.9 mg/L vs 62.4 ± 14.2 mg/L for no-obese patients (p?= 0.63). The average serum potassium in obese patients was 4.06 ± 0.42 mEq/L vs 4.02 ± 0.46 mEq/L for no-obese (p?= 0.65). The average GFR was 73.4 ± 21.4 ml/L in obese patients vs 66.6 ± 22.6 ml/min in no-obese (p?= 0.03). The LVH was found in 81 cases (66.4%). The LVH was found in 65 (62.5%) obese patients vs?16 (88%) non-obese patients (OR = 4.8, 95% 1.04?-?22?p?= 0.02). Only abdominal?obesity has been correlated with left ventricular hypertrophy after multivariate analysis. [Methods] Blood samples were collected from forty-four 49-day-old healthy Guike pigs( 22 males and 22 females) once a week for seven consecutive weeks to detect routine blood indexes,and the results were compared with routine blood indexes of Landrace pig and Enshi black pig. Nigella sativa L. (Black seed), is a traditional herbal medicine that has been used for many purposes. The present study was designed to investigate the effects of hydro-alcoholic extract of nigella sativa L. (NS) on ...Nigella sativa L. (Black seed), is a traditional herbal medicine that has been used for many purposes. The present study was designed to investigate the effects of hydro-alcoholic extract of nigella sativa L. (NS) on performance of Forced Swimming Test (FST), blood biochemical parameters related to fatigue and thyroid functions. Therefore, Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), Creatine Kinase (CK), Lactic Dehydrogenase (LDH), and Total Protein (TP), triiodothyronine T3, thyroxin T4 and TSH tests were investigated. Thirty five male adult mice were randomly divided into five groups: three NS-fed groups, one fluoxetine treated group and one control group. Three NS experimental groups received hydro-alcoholic extract of NS at doses of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg orally for two weeks. Immobility time decreased in all NS groups compared with control group. Administration of NS significantly increased the concentration of T3 and T4 of the treatment groups. On the contrary, the amount of BUN, CK, LDH, TP and TSH decreased. In conclusion, black seed extract at the experimented doses showed anti-depressant, anti-fatigue and hyperthyroid effects.展开更多
目的:探讨3.0T磁共振流动敏感黑血序列三维T_(1)加权增强扫描(FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI)在脑转移瘤中的应用价值。方法:回顾性将2021年1月-2022年8月在本院就诊且经临床和影像检查证实的52例脑转移患者纳入研究。所有患者分别行颅脑FSBB 3D C...目的:探讨3.0T磁共振流动敏感黑血序列三维T_(1)加权增强扫描(FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI)在脑转移瘤中的应用价值。方法:回顾性将2021年1月-2022年8月在本院就诊且经临床和影像检查证实的52例脑转移患者纳入研究。所有患者分别行颅脑FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI、FSE CE-T_(1)WI和快速梯度回波序列三维T_(1)加权对比增强(FFE 3D CE-T_(1)WI)扫描,采用卡方检验或Fisher精确概率检验比较3个序列之间病灶检出率的差异。结果:经随访证实颅内转移灶总数为371个,FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI的检出率99.73%(370/371),FFE 3D CE-T_(1)WI的检出率为83.02%(308/371),FSE CE-T_(1)WI的检出率为78.44%(291/371),三者之间检出率的差异有统计学意义(χ^(2)=82.748,P<0.05)。分层分析:直径<3 mm的转移灶共160个,FSE CE-T_(1)WI、FFE 3D CE-T_(1)WI和FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI的检出率分别为50.62%、60.62%和99.37%,三个序列之间检出率的差异有统计学意义(χ^(2)=101.436,P<0.05);对于直径3~10 mm的转移灶,FSE CE-T_(1)WI、FFE 3D CE-T_(1)WI和FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI的检出率分别为99.38%、100%和100%,三个序列之间检出率的差异无统计学意义(P>0.05);对直径>10 mm的转移灶,三个序列的检出率均为100%,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论:FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI在检出脑转移瘤方面要优于常规和高分辨序列MR增强扫描,值得临床推广。展开更多

文摘目的:探讨3.0T磁共振流动敏感黑血序列三维T_(1)加权增强扫描(FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI)在脑转移瘤中的应用价值。方法:回顾性将2021年1月-2022年8月在本院就诊且经临床和影像检查证实的52例脑转移患者纳入研究。所有患者分别行颅脑FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI、FSE CE-T_(1)WI和快速梯度回波序列三维T_(1)加权对比增强(FFE 3D CE-T_(1)WI)扫描,采用卡方检验或Fisher精确概率检验比较3个序列之间病灶检出率的差异。结果:经随访证实颅内转移灶总数为371个,FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI的检出率99.73%(370/371),FFE 3D CE-T_(1)WI的检出率为83.02%(308/371),FSE CE-T_(1)WI的检出率为78.44%(291/371),三者之间检出率的差异有统计学意义(χ^(2)=82.748,P<0.05)。分层分析:直径<3 mm的转移灶共160个,FSE CE-T_(1)WI、FFE 3D CE-T_(1)WI和FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI的检出率分别为50.62%、60.62%和99.37%,三个序列之间检出率的差异有统计学意义(χ^(2)=101.436,P<0.05);对于直径3~10 mm的转移灶,FSE CE-T_(1)WI、FFE 3D CE-T_(1)WI和FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI的检出率分别为99.38%、100%和100%,三个序列之间检出率的差异无统计学意义(P>0.05);对直径>10 mm的转移灶,三个序列的检出率均为100%,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论:FSBB 3D CE-T_(1)WI在检出脑转移瘤方面要优于常规和高分辨序列MR增强扫描,值得临床推广。
