The data analyzed by multiple F test indicate that the fasting blood glucose (FBG) and the 2-h postprandial blood glucose (PBG) on the 30th and the 65th days after the food was ingested were significantly reduced (P = 0.001, P < 0.001, respectively), as was the glycosylated hemoglobin level at the end of the trial (P < 0.05). The final FBG and PBG of the subjects with initial FBG-O >200 mg% decreased on the average by 51.8 and 84.6 mg%. respectively; those with FBG-0 150-200 mg% decreased by 24.1 and 68.7 mg%; and those with FBG-O < 150 mg% decreased by 4.8 and 21.4 mg%. No significant changes in blood lipid indexes were observed, except that the triglycer-ide values of subjects with hypertriglyceridemia (>200 mg%) significantly decreased by 118.7 mg%. Telfairia occidentalis is one of the plants whose leaves are commonly consumed in Cameroon. This work hereby studied the antiamylasic potential of its aqueous leaves extract and the effect of its dietary supplementation on fasting blood glucose in Wistar rats. An aqueous extract (1:6) was prepared from shed-dried T. occidentalis leaves by maceration. Its antiamylase activity was evaluated in vitro and a phytochemical screening was realized. Its acute toxicity and its effect on an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) were evaluated in rats. The effect of T. occidentalis leaves dietary supplementation (10%) on fasting blood glucose was studied for 28 days in rats fed with carbohydrate enriched diet, using Glibenclamide (0.3 mg/kg body weight) as reference hypoglycemic drug. Results showed that there was total inhibition of α-amylase activity in vitro by T. occidentalis aqueous leaves extract at 0.075 mg/ml. The presence of tannins, flavonoids and anthocyanins was revealed by the phytochemical screening. No sign of toxicity was observed in rats after an oral administration of the extract at 2000 mg/kg body weight. The extract significantly hindered a rise in blood glucose at 400 mg/kg body weight during an oral glucose tolerance test. Dietary supplementation with T. occidentalis leaves caused a significant decrease (p < 0.05) in fasting blood glucose as compared to the positive control. Telfairia occidentalis leaves and their aqueous extract could be used in the management of hyperglycemia and diabetes.展开更多
OBJECTIVE:To assess the effect of activating blood drugs(AB drugs) on blood glucose and lipid levels of diabetic patients.METHODS:Systematic searches were conducted on 6 electronic databases and the search time was cu...OBJECTIVE:To assess the effect of activating blood drugs(AB drugs) on blood glucose and lipid levels of diabetic patients.METHODS:Systematic searches were conducted on 6 electronic databases and the search time was cut off in May 2016.Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) were included if they investigated diabetic patients who received Western medicine combined with AB drugs in the experimental groups and solitary usage of corresponding Western medicine or placebo in the control groups.6 outcome measures,which were considered as inclusion,were changes in fasting blood glucose(FBG),glycosylated haemoglobin A1 c(HbA1c),total triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-c) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-c).The literature quality was assessed by Cochrane score for risk of bias in Review Manager 5.2,as well as meta-analysis was performed.RESULTS:7 RCTs comprising 999 patients met all inclusion criteria.Meta-analysis showed beneficial effects of Westernmedicine combined with AB drugs on modulating FBG,TC,LDL-c and HDL-c compared with Western medicine or placebo(P<0.05),while no difference was observed in HbA1c,and TG(P>0.05).To some extent,the therapeutic effects of Western medicine combined with AB drugs were better than that of solitary usage of Western medicine or placebo.Besides,AB drugs were safe and reliable with little toxic and side-effects.CONCLUSIONS:The meta-analysis suggests beneficial effects of Western medicine combined with AB drugs on modulating blood glucose and lipids in diabetic patients.展开更多
Dark tea(containing Eurotium cristatum)and black tea have hypoglycemic effects.The black brick tea with fungal growth is obtained from black tea by adding E.cristatum,followed by steaming,pressing,fungal growth,and dr...Dark tea(containing Eurotium cristatum)and black tea have hypoglycemic effects.The black brick tea with fungal growth is obtained from black tea by adding E.cristatum,followed by steaming,pressing,fungal growth,and drying.However,the hypoglycemic effects of black brick tea are still unexplored.Here,we used black brick tea with fungal growth and black tea as raw materials to study their hypoglycemic effects in a hyperglycemic mice model.Both these types of black tea could lower the content of blood glucose and increase the content of hepatic glycogen by upregulating the proteins and m RNA expression of phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate3-kinase,glycogen synthase,protein kinase B and phosphoinositidedependent protein kinase-1 and downregulating the protein and m RNA expression of glycogen synthase kinase 3β.These regulatory steps were followed by high activities of glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase and low content of malondialdehyde.These teas can promote blood glucose transport and absorption by upregulating the protein and m RNA expression of insulin receptor substrate-1 and glucose transporter-2 and stimulate glycolysis by upregulating the protein and m RNA expression of 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-biphosphatase 2.Our study suggests that the black brick tea was more effective than the black tea in terms of hypoglycemic.展开更多

目的采用Meta分析方法系统评价补肾活血中药联合孕三烯酮用于子宫内膜异位症术后治疗的效果和安全性。方法计算机检索中国知网(CNKI)、万方数据、维普网、中国生物医学文献数据库(CBM)、PubMed、Embase和Web of Science等数据库从建库至...目的采用Meta分析方法系统评价补肾活血中药联合孕三烯酮用于子宫内膜异位症术后治疗的效果和安全性。方法计算机检索中国知网(CNKI)、万方数据、维普网、中国生物医学文献数据库(CBM)、PubMed、Embase和Web of Science等数据库从建库至2022年11月有关补肾活血中药联合孕三烯酮用于子宫内膜异位症术后治疗的临床随机对照试验(RCT),制定纳入和排除标准,筛选符合标准的文献。以给予补肾活血中药联合孕三烯酮治疗的患者作为试验组,单纯给予孕三烯酮治疗的患者作为对照组,提取相关资料运用RevMan 5.4.1软件进行Meta分析。结果共纳入7项RCT研究,涉及患者816例。Meta分析结果显示:与对照组相比,试验组的总有效率[比值比(OR)=2.35,95%CI(1.47,3.77),P=0.0004]、妊娠率[OR=2.34,95%CI(1.62,3.38),P<0.00001]显著增高,复发率[OR=0.38,95%CI(0.24,0.59),P<0.0001]、FSH水平[均数差(MD)=-1.53,95%CI(-1.87,-1.20),P<0.00001]、糖类抗原125(CA125)水平[MD=-13.53,95%CI(-16.78,-10.28),P<0.00001]及LH水平[MD=-1.64,95%CI(-1.86,-1.42),P<0.00001]显著降低;两组的不良反应发生率及E 2水平变化无显著性差异(P>0.05)。结论与单纯使用孕三烯酮比较,补肾活血中药联合孕三烯酮用于子宫内膜异位症术后治疗在提高治疗有效率及妊娠率、降低复发率等方面可能更有优势,但因为本研究纳入文献的数量及质量有限,后续仍需要更多高质量的RCT研究进一步验证。展开更多
