Electrocardiogram wave intervals (R-R,P-R,QRS,T-P,and R-T) shortened while heart rate increased with the increasing of body temperature. The average heart rate was 14.6/min at 5℃,whereas it was 201/min at 35℃. The duration of wave intervals of ECG and the heart rate were related significantly to the body temperature (P<0.001). Among the components of a cardiac cycle the cardiac rest period (TP intervals) and the atria-ventricular conduction time (PR interval) were affected mostly by body temperature. In the other hand the ventricular depolarization and repolarization (QRS and R-T intervals) were relatively less affected by the body temperature. The increasing of heart rate with body temperature was mainly caused by the shortening of ECG wave intervals, and the T-P interval (the cardiac rest period) was shortened more noticeably than other intervals.展开更多

The surface heat loss of the sample, the latent heat of phase transformation, and the temperature dependence of thermal properties of material were considered. The laser heat source was considered as a moving Gaussian heat flux with a constant velocity. Finite element method was used to calculate the transient temperature field. A program to calculate the temperature field was developed using FORTRAN language. The transient temperature field, the width and depth of laser transformation hardening zone of 42CrMo steel sample during laser transformation hardening process was calculated. The widths and depths of laser transformation hardening zones of 42CrMo steel samples were also measured experimentally. The calculated widths and depths of laser transformation hardening zones are in good agreement with the experimental results.展开更多

The carbon intake, faecal and growth carbon were measured, and the carbon respiration was calculated using the carbon budget equation (C C=G C+F C+R C). The combined relationship between different components of the carbon budget, body weight and temperature could be described by regression equations:C C=1.0206W 0.8126e 0.1483T; G C=0.0042W 1.4096 (-5.11T3+285.90T2-5173.72T+30314.03);F C=0.0485W 0.7711e 0.1624T U C = 1.4333W 0.6715e 0.1487T. Body weight had no significant effect on the carbon absorption efficiency and the conversion efficiency.展开更多

Previous observations suggest that flee-living individuals of this species may change their food intake in response to seasonal changes in ambient temperature. In the present study, we randomly assigned Chinese bulbuls to either a 30 ~C or 10 ~C group, and measured their body mass (BM), body temperature, gross energy intake (GEl), digestible energy intake (DEI), and the length and mass of their digestive tracts over 28 days of acclimation at these temperatures. As predicted, birds in the 30 ℃ group had lower body mass, GEI and DEI relative to those in the 10 ℃ group. The length and mass of the digestive tract was also lower in the 30 ℃ group and trends in these parameters were positively correlated with BM, GEl and DEI. These results suggest that Chinese bulbuls reduced their absolute energy demands at relatively high temperatures by decreasing their body mass, GEI and DEI, and digestive tract size.展开更多

Method: All 200 consecutive cases of neonates delivered at our hospital from March to August 2001 were included in this retrospective study. Temperatures were measured immediately after delivery, after 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 8 hours and 15 hours and on the 2nd and 3rd day. Axillary temperatures ranging from 36.5 篊 to 37 篊 were regarded as normal. No cases of maternal fever or systemic infection of the newborns were discovered. All infants were discharged in good general condition. Results: The mean rectal temperature at birth was 37.19 篊. The lowest average temperature was reached at 1 hour after delivery (36.54 篊) with a significant difference between natural delivery (36.48 篊) and section (36.59 篊) (P<0.05). Temperature subsequently rose to 36.70 篊 at 8 hours and 36.78 篊 at 15 hours (P<0.05). Hypothermia was seen in 51.8% and hypothermia in 42.5% of the patients. On the 3rd day after delivery, 96% of all temperatures were in the normal range. A significant relation was found between hypothermia and both low birth weight (P<0.001) and low gestational age (P<0.05). Conclusion: The ref-erence range presently used did not include all physiological temperatures in the first 72 hours of life. Considering other factors, such as birth weight, route of delivery, gestational age and body temperature on the 2nd and 3rd day of life, may help to correctly assess the significance of temperatures beyond the reference range.展开更多

In this study, the relations of body weight, salinity and temperature to oxygen consumption and ammonia excretion of N. japonica were determined. Three different groups in body weight (large: 2.34±0.36 g, middle: 1.50±0.21 g and small: 0.62±0.12 g) were set for all experiments. Results show that the body weight is negatively related to the rates of oxygen consumption and ammonia excretion; and the relationship is significant. The oxygen consumption and ammonia excretion at 24℃ decreased at salinity from 5 to 30 and increased above 30, indicating that both lower and higher salinity are adverse and certain degree of salinity stress is necessary for enhancing the energy demand. At salinity 30, rising temperature from 18℃ to 30℃, the oxygen consumption increased before 27℃ and then decreased. However, the relation of ammonia excretion and temperature seems more complex. Two-way ANOVA shows that salinity, temperature and body weight all have a significant effect on the oxygen consumption and ammonia excretion of the worm. Moreover, interaction between salinity/temperature and body weight is also significant. O:N (oxygen/nitrogen) ratio varies greatly in this case from 5.97 to 463.22, indicating that N. japonica can regulate the type of metabolic substrate against environment changes.展开更多

The relationships of C max to the body weight (W) at each temperature were described by a power equation: lnC max = a + b lnW. Covariance analysis revealed significant interaction of the temperature and body weight. The relationship of adjusted C max to water temperature (T) was described by a quadratic equation: C max =-0.369 + 0.456T - 0.0117T 2. The optimal feeding temperature calculated from this equation was 19.5℃. The coefficients of the multiple regression estimation relating C max to body weight (W) and water temperature (T) were given in the Table 2.展开更多

Sparus macrocephalus was studied experimentally at four ration lerels from starvation to sltiation and tour temperatures ranging from 14.8 to 26.8℃ .At maximum rations. the specific growth rate (SGR) increased with temperature and was a negative linear function of body weight. The relationship betaren SGR and ration levels was a decelerating curve. Stepwise mpgression was used to derelop the predictive models for the specific growth rates. Maintenance rations and optimum ratlons both increased with increased temperature. The relationship between maintenance. optimum rations and body welght wds influenced by temperuture. Conversion efficiencies increased with ration from zero at maintenance ration to a peak at the optimum ration, then declined with further inceased ration.展开更多

Unlike modern acupuncture needles, the DZ is not inserted subcutaneously, and is safely and commonly used at the bedside. The mechanisms underlying its effects are not known. In this study, we measured sublingual and cutaneous body temperature, pulse rate, oxygen pressure (PO2), oxygen saturation (sO2) and carbon dioxide pressure (PCO2) before and after DZ application in 25 healthy male volunteers. Serum levels of catecholamines (adrenaline, noradrenaline and dopamine) and white blood cells (WBCs;ratio and number) were traced for one week. Soon after DZ application, pulse rate, body temperature, PO2 and sO2 all decreased. The serum levels of adrenaline and noradrenaline increased, indicating sympathetic dominance, and the number of granulocytes was elevated. One week after DZ application, the number of lymphocyte increased. We therefore suggest that DZ affects body temperature, pulse rate, catecholamine secretion and immune function by inducing transient sympathetic dominance via actions on the autonomic nervous system. These effects are similar to the effects observed with modern needles, which are inserted subcutaneously. Therefore, we consider DZ treatment to be advantageous and safe in modern clinical practice, especially in post-surgical and terminal care, as it avoids the issues with infection and tissue damage sometimes seen with modern acupuncture needles.展开更多

As a result, We found that there was a tendency for the volume of blood flow to the fingertips to significantly increase when listening to classical music, but there was a variety of changes in blood flow between each age group for healing music and J-Pop music. When measuring heart rate it was found that the LF/HF value, which is an index for the autonomic nervous system which shows tension and stress, fell significantly when listening to each type of music. Lastly, there was a trend for body surface temperature to rise when listening to classical or healing music, a rise which was particularly significant when listening to healing music. This study shows that a relaxing effect can be expected for all indices when listening to classical music. However, for healing music and J-Pop, personal musical preferences seemed to have an effect and the results were varied.展开更多

We then investigated characteristics of difficult pregnancy cases with measurement of body temperature and observation of basal body temperature (BBT) charts. Thirty-three patients had acupuncture every week for more than 2 years and 17 of them delivered. At the same time, their cutaneous body temperature was measured at five locations. Moreover, patients and acupuncturists had a weekly discussion of the patient’s BBT chart. The delivery group showed more balanced and higher cutaneous body temperatures than the miscarriage and no pregnancy groups. The delivery group showed a smooth increase in the BBT chart while the miscarriage group showed a specific pattern in shifting temperatures from low to high zones. Acupuncture might suppress excess sympathetic dominance, which induced hyperthermia as well as interruption of pregnancy. Additionally, weekly discussion and medical advice could help patients. However, further study of males, healthy women, or larger, comparative studies exploring the social and cultural background of other countries were needed to add support to these factors.展开更多

The results indicate that the standard metabolic rates increase with the increase of body weight at different temperatures. Relationship between them could be described as Rs = a ln W b. The mean of standard metabolic rate is significantly different among groups, but the b values are not. The standard metabolic rates of amended standard body weights decrease with the increase of temperature, and the mean of standard metabolic rate is also significantly different among groups when the standard body weights are 48.6 g, 147.9 g, and 243.1 g. Relationship between them could be described as Rsw = m e-b/T. The relations of standard metabolic rate ( Rs ) or relative metabolic rate ( Rs ) to body weight and temperature yield the following equations: Rs = 1.160 W 0.752 e -9.494/ T and Rs’= 1.160 W 0.254 e -9.494/ T.展开更多

The energy budget was used to calculate the metabolism in black porgy. Resting metabolism correlated significantly with body weight in power function at 24.4°, 20.1° and 14.8℃ ( R S=aW b ). The model predicting resting metabolism was obtained as: R S=0.0834W 0.8763 ·e 0.0319T . The feeding metabolism correlated linearly with ration level and food consumption. The predicting model of feeding metabolism is: R F=0.5631+0.0341·T-0.0013C·W·T+0.0010W ·T+0.0219C ·W-0.3335C. Using ln( RL+1 ), ln W , ln T and their interaction terms as independent variables, the prediction model of total daily metabolism was obtained by stepwise regression as: ln R T =-1.7328+0.3936ln W +1.1882ln( RL +1)-0.2823ln( RL +1)ln T +0.1555ln W ln T .展开更多

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the influence of olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation on body temperature changes and neurological functional recovery in patients with old spinal cord injury. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A non-randomized self-controlled study, which was performed in the wards of the Department of Surgery, Taian Disabled Soldier's Hospital of Shandong Province, between June 2004 and July 2007. PARTICIPANTS: 119 inpatients with old spinal cord injury were selected for this study, including 110 males and 9 females, aged 5-58 years. METHODS: The olfactory bulb of an aborted fetus was digested into a single-cell suspension of olfactory ensheathing cells, which were then cultured and purified for 7-10 days, and once again made into a single-cell suspension. The olfactory ensheathing cell suspension was then transplanted in the juncture of the normal spinal cord and the abnormal spinal cord under surgical microscopy, with 1 × 10^6 cells per target point, with 2-5 target points in total. According to changes in postoperative temperature, 119 patients were divided into three groups: body temperature (T) ≤ 38.0 ℃ (n = 40), 38.0 ℃ 〈 T ≤ 39.0 ℃ (n = 67), T 〉 39.0℃ (n = 12). In particular, T 〉 38℃ (n = 79) patients were divided into two subgroups according to duration of fever: ≤3 days (n = 61) and ≥ 4 days (n = 18). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Neurological function was evaluated by the American Spinal Cord Injury (ASIA) scale set by American Spinal Cord Injury Academy in 2000 one day prior to transplantation and one or two months after transplantation. RESULTS: 119 patients were included in the final analysis, without any loss. Following olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation, body temperatures changed as follows: T ≤ 38.0 ℃ (n = 40, 33.6%), 38.0 ℃ 〈 T ≤ 39.0 ℃ (n = 67, 56.3%), 〉 39.0 ℃ (n = 12, 10.1%). Moreover, among 79 patients (T 〉 38 ℃), the febrile time of 61 cases (77%) was ≤ 3 days, and that of 18 cases (23%) ≥ 4 days. ASIA scores increased after olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation (P 〈 0.05-0.01). CONCLUSION: Moderate febricity frequently occurred in patients that received olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation, and febrile time lasted for more than 3 days. Additionally, olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation can remarkably improve neurological functional recovery.展开更多

[ Method] Using air temperature data outside shutter boxes of cement and asphalt underlying surface at 1.5 m and conventional observation data from 2008 to 2010 as well as T639 and Japan numerical forecast product, the characteristics of the minimum temperature in winter half year and the maximum temperature in summer half year in Changzhou were analyzed, and the prediction equation of the maximum temperature from May to September as well as year-round comfort prediction index were es- tablished. Moreover, the announcement platform of human body feeling temperature was developed to forecast it. [ Result] There remained a tiny discrepancy in the winter minimum temperature between inside and outside shutter box, and clays with the minimum temperature difference lower than 2 ℃ accounted for 94.3% of total days. However, the summer maximum temperature difference between inside and outside shutter box was larger, and days with the maximum temperature difference higher than 2 ℃ accounted for 82.0%, while the maximum difference was 5.5 ℃. The prediction accuracy of the inside maximum temperature was 78%. Wind was considered as the primary factor based on the effective temperature, and comfort index forecast and service were determined based on human feelings, dress, meteorological care and so forth. Both human body feel- ing temperature and comfort index forecast were released in the temperature forecast service. [ Condusion] The prediction of human body feeling temperature could provide scientific references for people's dress and traveling in daily life.展开更多

文摘Electrocardiograms (ECG) of Eremias multiocellata were studied at 5-35℃ in body temperature. The increasing of heart rate with body temperature was mainly caused by the shortening of ECG wave intervals, and the T-P interval (the cardiac rest period) was shortened more noticeably than other intervals.

文摘Chinese bulbuls (Pycnonotus sinensis) are small passerine birds that inhabit areas of central, southern and eastern China. These results suggest that Chinese bulbuls reduced their absolute energy demands at relatively high temperatures by decreasing their body mass, GEI and DEI, and digestive tract size.
文摘Objective: To determine the range of body temperature in a group of healthy Chinese term neonates over the first 72 hours of life and to assess the influence of body weight, gestational age and route of delivery. Considering other factors, such as birth weight, route of delivery, gestational age and body temperature on the 2nd and 3rd day of life, may help to correctly assess the significance of temperatures beyond the reference range.

文摘Polychaete Neanthes japonica is a species geographically specific in China and Japan with important scientific implication and commercial value. O:N (oxygen/nitrogen) ratio varies greatly in this case from 5.97 to 463.22, indicating that N. japonica can regulate the type of metabolic substrate against environment changes.
文摘Maximum rate of food consumption (C max) was determined for juvenile Sebastodes fuscescens (Houttuyn) at water temperature of 10, 15, 20 and 25℃. The coefficients of the multiple regression estimation relating C max to body weight (W) and water temperature (T) were given in the Table 2.
文摘Growth of black porgy. Conversion efficiencies increased with ration from zero at maintenance ration to a peak at the optimum ration, then declined with further inceased ration.
文摘The di-zhen (DZ) is an ancient type of acupuncture needle with a history dating back more than 2000 years. Therefore, we consider DZ treatment to be advantageous and safe in modern clinical practice, especially in post-surgical and terminal care, as it avoids the issues with infection and tissue damage sometimes seen with modern acupuncture needles.

文摘PMV(Predicted Mean Vote) is a widely used index for evaluating the thermal environment. However, few studies have been conducted to take physiological values directly as evaluating indices. This paper assumes a linear relation between body temperature and both sweating rate and heat produced by shivering, and introduces the linear relation into the human heat balance equation to revise the classic PMV.And the assumption of linear relation is subsequently proved. The revised PMV possesses the same characteristic of dependent heat load as that of the classic one,and moreover it is convenient to be calculated.
文摘In this study we examined the relaxing effects of listening to music on a total of 12 women aged from their 20s to their 40s by measuring their blood flow, heart rate variability, and their body surface temperature. However, for healing music and J-Pop, personal musical preferences seemed to have an effect and the results were varied.
文摘We studied the efficiency of acupuncture for patients who were unable to give birth though they had experienced conventional infertility treatment for more than 2 years by medical specialists. However, further study of males, healthy women, or larger, comparative studies exploring the social and cultural background of other countries were needed to add support to these factors.

文摘Standard metabolic rates of Schlegels black rockfish with different body weights are determined in laboratory by using the flow-through respirometer at 11.2 ℃, 14.7℃ , 18.0 ℃ and 23.6 ℃ . The relations of standard metabolic rate ( Rs ) or relative metabolic rate ( Rs ) to body weight and temperature yield the following equations: Rs = 1.160 W 0.752 e -9.494/ T and Rs’= 1.160 W 0.254 e -9.494/ T.
文摘Feeding growth experiments on black porgy, Sparus macrocephalus , were carried out at four ration levels from starvation to satiation and four temperatures ranging from 14.8° to 26.8℃. Using ln( RL+1 ), ln W , ln T and their interaction terms as independent variables, the prediction model of total daily metabolism was obtained by stepwise regression as: ln R T =-1.7328+0.3936ln W +1.1882ln( RL +1)-0.2823ln( RL +1)ln T +0.1555ln W ln T .
文摘BACKGROUND: Olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation may transiently raise body temperature in some patients with old spinal cord injury. Additionally, olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation can remarkably improve neurological functional recovery.

文摘Background:Deep body temperature is a critical indicator of heat strain. However, direct measures are often invasive, costly, and difficult to implement in the field. This study assessed the agreement between deep body temperature estimated from heart rate and that measured directly during repeated work bouts while wearing explosive ordnance disposal(EOD)protective clothing and during recovery. Methods:Eight males completed three work and recovery periods across two separate days.Work consisted of treadmill walking on a 1%incline at 2.5,4.0,or 5.5 km/h,in a random order, wearing EOD protective clothing.Ambient temperature and relative humidity were maintained at 24℃and 50%[Wet bulb globe temperature(WBGT)(20.9±1.2)℃]or 32℃and 60%[WBGT(29.0±0.2)℃]on the separate days, respectively.Heart rate and gastrointestinal temperature(TGI)were monitored continuously, and deep body temperature was also estimated from heart rate(ECTemp). Results:The overall systematic bias between TGI and ECTemp was 0.01℃with 95%limits of agreement(Lo A)of±0.64℃and a root mean square error of 0.32℃.The average error statistics among participants showed no significant differences in error between the exercise and recovery periods or the environmental conditions. At TGI levels of(37.0–37.5)℃,(37.5–38.0)℃,(38.0–38.5)℃,and>38.5℃,the systematic bias and±95%Lo A were(0.08±0.58)℃,(–0.02±0.69)℃,(–0.07±0.63)℃,and(–0.32±0.56)℃,respectively.Conclusions:The findings demonstrate acceptable validity of the ECTemp up to 38.5℃.Conducting work within an ECTemp limit of 38.4℃,in conditions similar to the present study, would protect the majority of personnel from an excessive elevation in deep body temperature(>39.0℃).

文摘Light is an essential environmental cue influencing the endogenous circadian clocks that regulate behavioral and physiological processes in animals.Despite extensive research on the circadian rhythms of avian behavior and physiology, the mechanisms by which they adapt and adjust to abnormal photoperiod conditions, such as artificial light, have yet to be fully elucidated. Here, the circadian rhythms of the body mass, activity, and core and peripheral body temperatures of the Eurasian Tree Sparrow(Passer montanus,ETS)-a diurnal passerine-were examined under three different lighting conditions:constant light(LL),constant darkness(DD),and normal light-dark cycles(LD).Our results showed that the activity, body mass, core, tarsometatarsus, and eye temperatures of the ETSs varied significantly with treatment, time, and the interaction between treatment and time;however, there was no significant change in body mass in response to the interaction between time and treatment.Under LD conditions, the ETSs exhibited significant circadian rhythms in activity and core, tarsometatarsus, and eye temperatures.Under LL conditions, only the core temperature exhibited significant rhythmicity.Under DD conditions, there were no significant circadian rhythms in activity, body mass, and eye temperature;however, the core and tarsometatarsus temperatures remained rhythmic. Our results indicate that the core body temperature rhythm of ETS is endogenous and can be maintained under abnormal photoperiods. In contrast, the activity and body surface temperature, uncoupled from the core body temperature under abnormal photoperiod conditions, strongly depend on light. These results differ from those of other diurnal avian species, suggesting a unique coping mechanism of ETS in response to an abnormal photoperiod.

文摘[ Objective] The study aimed to forecast human body feeling temperature. [ Condusion] The prediction of human body feeling temperature could provide scientific references for people's dress and traveling in daily life.
