BACKGROUND Cancer patients with an implanted venous access port(IVAP)often manage their care at home during chemotherapy intervals,including maintaining the device,monitoring complications,and following medication ins...BACKGROUND Cancer patients with an implanted venous access port(IVAP)often manage their care at home during chemotherapy intervals,including maintaining the device,monitoring complications,and following medication instructions.Home care ensures continued support after discharge.However,due to factors such as age,gender,culture,psychological status,and family support,the quality of home care varies significantly.Understanding these factors can help provide targeted guidance to improve the care of cancer patients.AIM To explore IVAP chemotherapy on home care quality and its association with mental health and family support for cancer patients.METHODS This investigative study was based on a medical records system.It investigated the relationship between psychological status,family support,and home care quality in 180 patients with cancer undergoing IVAP chemotherapy.Psychological status was assessed using the State Anxiety Inventory(S-AI);family support was assessed using the Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS),and home care quality was evaluated using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire(EORTC QLQ-C30).Pearson’s correlation and Structural Equation Modeling were used to analyze the interplay between these factors.RESULTS The average S-AI score was 47.52±14.47,PSSS was 52.48±12.64,and EORTC QLQ-C30 was 70.09±17.32.A substantial inverse relationship was observed between the EORTC QLQ-C30 and S-AI scores(r=-0.712).A significant positive correlation was found between the EORTC QLQ-C30 and the PSSS,with a correlation coefficient of(r=0.744).The multiple linear regression analysis indicated that family social support,psychological status,and average monthly family income were the main factors influencing the variation in the quality of home care,explaining 71.9%of the variation.The Structural Equation Modeling results indicated that psychological status acted as a partial mediator in the association between family social support and home care quality of life,explaining 32.78%of the mediation effect.CONCLUSION Psychological status and family social support positively impacted cancer patients’home care quality,with psychology partially mediating this effect.展开更多
Container ports and hinterland manufacturing are two important forces of the local participation in economic globalization.This study,taking the Pearl River Delta(PRD),China with an export-oriented economy as an examp...Container ports and hinterland manufacturing are two important forces of the local participation in economic globalization.This study,taking the Pearl River Delta(PRD),China with an export-oriented economy as an example,applies Huff and panel regres-sion models to evaluate the impact of hinterland manufacturing on the development of container ports during the period of 1993–2019.The results show that 1)the spatial patterns of hinterlands for hub ports help to determine the distribution range and scale of economic variables that affect port throughput;2)the hinterland’s gross manufacturing output has universally positive influence on port through-put,wherein export-oriented processing and the entire manufacturing industry have significantly positive impact on port throughput in 1993–2011 and 2001–2019,respectively;3)the two internal structural factors related to an export-oriented economy,labor-intensive sectors and foreign-funded terminals,have positively moderate the direct influence of hinterland manufacturing on port throughput.Our results highlight the importance of local context in understanding port-manufacturing relationship in developing economies.Based on our findings,policy implications are further proposed to enhance port network organization in PRD.展开更多
Promoting the coupling coordination development of port and its hinterland city environments is an important way to improve urban economic competitiveness.Based on relevant data of 13 coastal port cities in eastern Ch...Promoting the coupling coordination development of port and its hinterland city environments is an important way to improve urban economic competitiveness.Based on relevant data of 13 coastal port cities in eastern China from 2000 to 2018,this study explores the coupling coordination development of port and city environments and its impact on urban economic competitiveness by constructing the coupling coordination degree model and the panel threshold model.The research results show that:(1)In terms of the coupling coordination development of port and city environments,most coastal ports and their hinterland cities are in a state of moderate or serious disorder.Overall,the degree of coupling coordination of port and city environments needs to be further improved;(2)The coupling coordination degree of port and city environments has a significant impact on urban economic competitiveness,and this effect gradually increases with the development of the ports and the urban economy.Among the variables that impact the urban economic competitiveness,fixed assets investment and foreign trade are significant factors that can enhance urban economic competitiveness.(3)At present,there is a“U-shaped”relationship between the coupling coordination degree of port-city environments and the urban economic competitiveness.This relationship lies on the right side of the inflection point of the“U-shaped”curve.Therefore,following the concept of assigning priority to ecological development,expanding fixed assets investment and actively developing foreign trade can further enhance the urban economic competitiveness.展开更多

This area was characterized by high levels of nutrient and suspended solids(SPS) during surve periods, and eutrophication led to the occurrence of red tides in April and October 2012 and April 2013 Our analyses revealed that the plankton communities of Bayuquan Port lacked stability and were af fecte seriously by external disturbance(e.g., oceanographic engineering and river runof f). Our data indicate tha oil, dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN), SPS, and chlorophyll a(Chl- a) were key factors that regulated th phytoplankton and zooplankton communities. The partial redundancy analysis(partial RDA) suggested tha oil and SPS were the most important environmental variables af fecting the phytoplankton community i April 2010 and 2012, whereas DIN concentration played a governing role in zooplankton dynamics. Oi and Chl-a concentrations af fected signifi cantly the zooplankton community in October 2012. Therefore, th plankton communities could refl ect both dynamic changes in coastal environmental factors and the ongoin eutrophication process caused by anthropogenic activities in this area.展开更多
Objective:Intraperitoneal(IP)chemotherapy through subcutaneous port is an effective treatment for gastric cancer(GC)patients with peritoneal metastasis(PM).The objective of this study is to assess the port complicatio...Objective:Intraperitoneal(IP)chemotherapy through subcutaneous port is an effective treatment for gastric cancer(GC)patients with peritoneal metastasis(PM).The objective of this study is to assess the port complications and risk factors for complications in GC patients with PM.Methods:In retrospective screening of 301 patients with subcutaneous ports implantation,249 GC patients with PM who received IP chemotherapy were screened out for analysis.Port complications and risk factors for complications were analyzed.Results:Of the 249 analyzed patients,57(22.9%)experienced port complications.Subcutaneous liquid accumulation(42.1%)and infection(28.1%)were the main complications,and other complications included port rotation(14.1%),wound dehiscence(12.3%),inflow obstruction(1.7%)and subcutaneous metastasis(1.7%).The median interval between port implantation and occurrence of complications was 3.0 months.Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG)performance status[odds ratio(OR),1.74;95%confidence interval(95%CI),1.12-2.69],albumin(OR,3.67;95%CI,1.96-6.86),implantation procedure optimization(OR,0.33;95%CI,0.18-0.61)and implantation groups(OR,0.37;95%CI,0.20-0.69)were independent risk factors for port complications(P<0.05).ECOG performance status was the only factor that related to the grades of port complications(P=0.016).Conclusions:Port complications in GC patients who received IP chemotherapy are manageable.ECOG performance status,albumin,implantation procedure and implantation group are independent risk factors for port complications in GC patients with PM.展开更多

Seabed deposition and erosion change is complicated due to the influence of sediment supply, human activities and other factors. The Yangshan Deepwater Port is the new deep water harbor, which is an important part of the Shanghai International Shipping Service Center. Its construction has received much attention. At present, the water depth from the 1 st to the 3 rd harbor district is currently suitable under regular dredging and tidal current action. The fourth harbor district will be built in the world’s largest fully-automated deep water wharf. In the study, bathymetry change of the entire sea area of the Yangshan Deepwater Port and the 4 th harbor district(i.e.,Phase IV project) waters were analyzed quantitatively using multiyear bathymetric, hydrological and sediment data. The results show that from 1998 to 2010, seabed changes are characterized by large volumes of erosion and sedimentation, which the southern part was deposited and the northern part was eroded in the inner harbor waters, but the seabed of the Kezhushan inlet was eroded. Seabed changes of Phase IV project waters generally show a scour tendency in recent few years with the annual scour rate about 0.7 m. Among the many factors, the existence of Kezhushan inlet and its influence of the western water flow play an important positive role in water depth changes under the ebb tide action.展开更多

Theories include tumor tracking, spillage, pneumoperitoneum, and immune factors. Methods: We report on a case of aggressive port site metastases and intra-abdominal recurrence after an uncomplicated laparoscopic hysterectomy for a grade 2, minimally invasive endometrioid adenocarcinoma of the uterus. The world literature on port site metastases in gynecological cancer is reviewed. Results: Port site metastases have two distinct presentations. In the first pattern, the metastases are isolated to the laparoscopic port sites. In the second pattern, port site metastases are associated with widespread intra-abdominal recurrence. Conclusion: Port site metastases are rare but occur with laparoscopic surgery. Meticulous attention to surgical technique including the use of specimen bags to isolate tissue and prevent spillage should be performed. Data registries should be instituted to track the incidence and outcomes of port site metastases.展开更多

Low speed high torque seawater hydraulic motor as a kind of energy conversion device and actuator plays an important role in seawater hydraulic transmission system. However, the physical and chemical properties of seawater, such as low viscosity, high causticity and poor lubrication, result in numerous problems. In this paper, the flow distribution characteristics of port plate pairs for the seawater hydraulic motor are investigated, and the leakage flow and power loss models of port plate pairs are established. Numerical simulations are carried out to examine the effects of water film, inlet pressure and rotating speed on the pressure distribution and leakage flow. And the friction and wear tests of port plate pairs are also carried out. Moreover, the test system of the seawater hydraulic motor is constructed and the performance of prototype with no-load or loading is conducted. The results indicate that the clearance of port plate pairs and inlet pressure have a significant effect on distribution characteristics, but the effect of rotating speed is not very obvious. The experimental results show that the minimum error rate can be maintained within 0.3% by the proposed flow model and the counter materials of 316 L against carbon-fiber-reinforced polyetheretherketone(CFRPEEK) are suitable for the port plate pairs of seawater hydraulic motor. Finally, based on the seawater hydraulic experiment platform, the volumetric efficiency of no-load and loading are obtained that the maximum can achieve 94.71% and 90.14%, respectively. This research work may improve the flow distribution performance, lubrication and the friction and wear properties, enhance energy converting efficiency of port plate pair and provide theoretical and technical support for the design of highperformance water hydraulic components.展开更多

Consequently, there have always been notable variations of studies around it. This paper analyzes the impact of privatization on terminal efficiency using the Port of Tema as a Case Study. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the efficiency trends of the public and private terminals in the port over the years. To achieve this objective, DEA-CCR methodology was employed to calculate the annual technical efficiency trends of the private and public terminals using four input variables and three output variables. The main results of the paper indicated that the public and private terminals were efficient for multiple years. However, the efficiency scores over the years demonstrated inconsistency, exhibiting notable fluctuations. The findings of this study will aid policymakers across the region on policies relating to the efficiency and ownership structure of ports and terminals.展开更多

Methods: This is a descriptive, retrospective study involving 365 worker patients from the Port of Santos and 365 patients not related with port activities (control group). All patients were seen at the same private hospital in the city of Santos. Data were obtained by reviewing the electronic medical records of each patient related to the admission exam (initial) and to any assistance due to ocular allergic symptoms (red eyes) between 2019 and 2021. The analyzed data included age, sex, port section (port workers), refraction, time of symptom onset, disease history, treatment, and clinical outcome. Data were statistically assessed by the Chi-square test. Results: All patents were male. The mean age (34 ± 12 vs 35 ± 11 years) and the prevalence of refractive errors were similar between groups. In contrast, ocular allergic symptoms were significantly higher in group of port workers (34%) compared with non-port workers (17%), p < 0.0001. Likewise, episodes related to ocular allergy were more frequent in port workers, p < 0.05. Workers with activities related to bulk handling were the most affected. Conclusions: The incidence of acute allergic conjunctivitis in port workers requires attention from health authorities. This may lead to prevention and a better understanding of the epidemiology of the disease.展开更多

This paper constructed a mathematical programming model to elaborate the transshipment port selection for the shipping company. This model is tested by the data collected from the ports of Hong Kong and Kaohsiung. The results show that this model can be used to explain the transshipment competition relationship between the ports of Hong Kong and Kaohsiung well. A sensitivity analysis was also executed. The sensitivity analysis results showed that both the port of Hong Kong and Kaohsiung should decrease the charges of port and increase the effi- ciency of loading and discharging. Based on the sensitivity analysis results, some interesting conclusions and helpful suggestions were obtained for the managers of the ports of Hong Kong and Kaohsiung to improve their port management.展开更多

Previous stud...The Port Island Formation(PIF), a typical Cretaceous red bed in Hong Kong, is dominated by non-fossiliferous, reddish clastic rocks, making it difficult to determine the sedimentary age of PIF precisely. Previous studies assigned the PIF to Late Cretaceous provisionally only on the basis of its stratigraphic sequence and lithology. This study identified a tuffite interlayer in the PIF and a zircon UPb age of 128.2±2.7 Ma by LA-ICP-MS method was obtained. It’s the first time to date the depositional age of the PIF with a reliable chronological constraint. With the support of stratigraphic evidence, we concluded that the geological age of PIF should be Early Cretaceous rather than Late Cretaceous. Based on the volcanic history of Hong Kong and Southeast China and the distribution of the PIF in Mirs Bay, it is believed that there was no volcanic activity in Hong Kong in ca. 128 Ma. The tuffite interlayer discovered in PIF was formed by the deposition of volcanic ash, which might originate from remote region outside Hong Kong, in an aquatic environment on Port Island. The identification of the tuffite interlayer, as the response to a volcanic event, has great significance not only to the studies of establishment and regional correlation of the strata system and the geological evolution in Hong Kong,but also to the study of volcanic activities in Southeast China.展开更多
To protect the sustainability of the benefits from seas and near coastal areas,which have under the effect of the very complex hydrodynamic conditions and intensive human activities,without disrupting the balance of n...To protect the sustainability of the benefits from seas and near coastal areas,which have under the effect of the very complex hydrodynamic conditions and intensive human activities,without disrupting the balance of nature,it is necessary to image the status of the seafloor features.Therefore,this study presents the deformations,depositional conditions,underwater constructions,and the other non-natural impacts on the seafloor of the nearshore area at western Istanbul(between Küçükçekmece and Büyükçekmece lagoons)where it intensely used by the citizens.The results of the study may provide some guidance for understanding the impacts and risk factors of uses that are or will be conducted in coastal and/or near-coastal areas.Construction planning for civil coastal structures and areas should be done in great harmony with nature,minimizing negative environmental impacts.Although sediment distribution in the area is generally quite complex,the current state of the region,wave action,hydrodynamic conditions,the amount of material transported from the land,and bathymetry are important influencing factors.The seafloor has been damaged primarily by anchor deformation and associated bottom scanning,as well as disturbing trawl tracks.The seafloor was observed as partially shallowing near the constructions(such as natural gas pipelines,fishermen’s shelter,and port piles)of coastal areas and associated with sand deposits.Therefore,scanning the seafloor using side-scan sonar may provide valuable frequency data to prevent future disruptions.展开更多

Methods: Between Marc...Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the anatomic-landmark and ultrasound-guided techniques in the placement of an internal jugular vein port in patients with advanced breast cancer. Methods: Between March 2010 and October 2010, 60 patients with advanced breast cancer underwent central venous port placement for the delivery of chemotherapy, preferably through the internal jugular vein. Patients were randomly assigned to either the anatomic-landmark or the ultrasound-guided group. Failure on first attempt, number of attempts until successful catheterization, time to successful placement, the accordance of the two placement approaches, and the demographics of each patient were recorded. Results: The consistency of the direction of two lines drawn using the anatomic-landmark and ultrasound-guided techniques or of the diameter of the internal jugular vein as determined by the two approaches was 85% (51/60). The rate of successful place- ment at first attempt was higher in the ultrasound group than in the anatomic-landmark group (P 〈 0.05). A greater number of attempts and longer time to successful port placement were needed in the latter (P 〈 0.05). Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that, in the placement of an internal jugular vein port, the ultrasound (US)-guJded technique has several advantages over the anatomic-landmark technique.展开更多

The pr...The prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus (AIDS) and hepatitis B virus among heavy truck drivers and their assistants has been well documented globally in correlation with their behavioral characteristics. The present study aimed to screen for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), and behavioral characteristics among heavy truck drivers in Port Sudan. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 274 heavy truck drivers and their assistants who used the highway Port Sudan-Khartoum in Port Sudan city during 2019-2021. Data on behavioral characteristics and substance use habits were collected using a structured questionnaire, and an ELISA test was used to screen for HIV and HBV infections in the study participants. The chi-square test, odds ratio, and confidence intervals were used to find the association between behavioral characteristics and seropositive HIV/HBV. Of the 274 enrolled participants, the seroprevalence rates of HIV were 2.7% and HBV was 23.7%. Ninety-four (34.3%) of them had a history of high-risk sexual behavior outside of marriage;only two (0.7%) used condoms;14.2% of participants reported alcohol use;and 1.1% reported drug use. Univariate analysis revealed that having a sex history outside of marriage with ≥1 sex partner and never using a condom with a spouse or casual partner were significant risk factors for HIV and HBV among drivers. Fortunately, we found that most of the drivers reported low alcohol and drug use. Concerning this study, the seroprevalence of HIV and HBV is highly associated with a history of having sex outside of marriage and sexual behavior among truck drivers and assistances. Additional studies are needed to further investigate other STIs and behavioral characteristics associated with factors in truck drivers/assistance in different truck stop regions in Sudan.展开更多

The large amount of heat generated from urban structures such as road materials and pavement materials and other anthropogenic heat sources are the main causes of Urban Heat Island (UHI). The sources of data for this research included primary and secondary sources. Other techniques employed for data collection were direct measurement and readings on the road and pavement materials. The research found out that, there was consistency in rising temperature at different time of the day by the different road and pavement materials. Asphalt has the greatest effect of increasing the urban temperature four degrees higher, followed by concrete, three degree rise in temperature, and earth (ordinary ground) by two degree rise and vegetation (grass) by one degree rise in temperature. The overall effect on the residents of the study area ranges from increase in hotness of the day;44.6% respondents agrees;while 34.3% says it affects the ambient air quality of the area, and other effects such as increased ground level ozone, suffocation, sleeplessness and restlessness as a result of excessive high temperature especially at night are identified in this paper. The research recommends the review or redesigning of the entire Port Harcourt city Master Plan to make provision for creation of more green areas rather than pavements and concreted areas to reduce the effects of (UHI) and ultimately improve the comfort and living conditions of the people in a the garden city Port Harcourt.展开更多
The Himalayas are prone to glacial lake outburst floods,which can pose a severe threat to downstream villages and infrastructure.The Zhangmu and Gyirong land treaty ports are located on the China-Nepal border in the c...The Himalayas are prone to glacial lake outburst floods,which can pose a severe threat to downstream villages and infrastructure.The Zhangmu and Gyirong land treaty ports are located on the China-Nepal border in the central Himalayas.In recent years,the expansion of glacial lakes has increased the threat of these two port regions.This article describes the results of mapping the glacial lakes larger than 0.01 km^2 in the Zhangmu and Gyirong port regions and analyzes their change.It provides a comprehensive assessment of potentially dangerous glacial lakes and predicts the development of future glacial lakes.From 1988 to 2019,the glacial lakes in these port regions underwent"expansion",and moraine-dammed lakes show the most significant expansion trend.A total of eleven potentially dangerous glacial lakes are identified based on the assessment criteria and historical outburst events;most expanded by more than 150%from 1988 to 2019,with some by over 500%.The Cirenmaco,a moraine-dammed lake,is extremely prone to overtopping due to ice avalanches or the melting of dead ice in the dam.For other large lakes,such as the Jialongco,Gangxico and Galongco,ice avalanches may likely cause the lakes to burst besides self-destructive failure.The potential dangers of the Youmojianco glacial lakes,including lakes Nos.9,10 and 11,will increase in the future.In addition,the glacier-bed topography model predicts that 113 glacial lakes with a size larger than 0.01 km^2,a total area of 11.88 km2 and a total volume of 6.37×10^9 m^3 will form in the study area by the end of the 21 century.Due to global warming,the glacial lakes in the Zhangmu and Gyirong port regions will continue to grow in the short term,and hence the risk of glacial lake outburst floods will increase.展开更多
文摘BACKGROUND Cancer patients with an implanted venous access port(IVAP)often manage their care at home during chemotherapy intervals,including maintaining the device,monitoring complications,and following medication instructions.Home care ensures continued support after discharge.However,due to factors such as age,gender,culture,psychological status,and family support,the quality of home care varies significantly.Understanding these factors can help provide targeted guidance to improve the care of cancer patients.AIM To explore IVAP chemotherapy on home care quality and its association with mental health and family support for cancer patients.METHODS This investigative study was based on a medical records system.It investigated the relationship between psychological status,family support,and home care quality in 180 patients with cancer undergoing IVAP chemotherapy.Psychological status was assessed using the State Anxiety Inventory(S-AI);family support was assessed using the Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS),and home care quality was evaluated using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire(EORTC QLQ-C30).Pearson’s correlation and Structural Equation Modeling were used to analyze the interplay between these factors.RESULTS The average S-AI score was 47.52±14.47,PSSS was 52.48±12.64,and EORTC QLQ-C30 was 70.09±17.32.A substantial inverse relationship was observed between the EORTC QLQ-C30 and S-AI scores(r=-0.712).A significant positive correlation was found between the EORTC QLQ-C30 and the PSSS,with a correlation coefficient of(r=0.744).The multiple linear regression analysis indicated that family social support,psychological status,and average monthly family income were the main factors influencing the variation in the quality of home care,explaining 71.9%of the variation.The Structural Equation Modeling results indicated that psychological status acted as a partial mediator in the association between family social support and home care quality of life,explaining 32.78%of the mediation effect.CONCLUSION Psychological status and family social support positively impacted cancer patients’home care quality,with psychology partially mediating this effect.

文摘Container ports and hinterland manufacturing are two important forces of the local participation in economic globalization.This study,taking the Pearl River Delta(PRD),China with an export-oriented economy as an example,applies Huff and panel regres-sion models to evaluate the impact of hinterland manufacturing on the development of container ports during the period of 1993–2019.The results show that 1)the spatial patterns of hinterlands for hub ports help to determine the distribution range and scale of economic variables that affect port throughput;2)the hinterland’s gross manufacturing output has universally positive influence on port through-put,wherein export-oriented processing and the entire manufacturing industry have significantly positive impact on port throughput in 1993–2011 and 2001–2019,respectively;3)the two internal structural factors related to an export-oriented economy,labor-intensive sectors and foreign-funded terminals,have positively moderate the direct influence of hinterland manufacturing on port throughput.Our results highlight the importance of local context in understanding port-manufacturing relationship in developing economies.Based on our findings,policy implications are further proposed to enhance port network organization in PRD.

文摘Promoting the coupling coordination development of port and its hinterland city environments is an important way to improve urban economic competitiveness.Based on relevant data of 13 coastal port cities in eastern China from 2000 to 2018,this study explores the coupling coordination development of port and city environments and its impact on urban economic competitiveness by constructing the coupling coordination degree model and the panel threshold model.The research results show that:(1)In terms of the coupling coordination development of port and city environments,most coastal ports and their hinterland cities are in a state of moderate or serious disorder.Overall,the degree of coupling coordination of port and city environments needs to be further improved;(2)The coupling coordination degree of port and city environments has a significant impact on urban economic competitiveness,and this effect gradually increases with the development of the ports and the urban economy.Among the variables that impact the urban economic competitiveness,fixed assets investment and foreign trade are significant factors that can enhance urban economic competitiveness.(3)At present,there is a“U-shaped”relationship between the coupling coordination degree of port-city environments and the urban economic competitiveness.This relationship lies on the right side of the inflection point of the“U-shaped”curve.Therefore,following the concept of assigning priority to ecological development,expanding fixed assets investment and actively developing foreign trade can further enhance the urban economic competitiveness.

文摘To understand the relationship between the plankton community and environmental factor and water quality in the Bayuquan Port of Liaodong Bay, China, and investigations were carried ou during six dif ferent periods(April 2009, April 2010, October 2011, April 2012, October 2012, and Apri 2013). This area was characterized by high levels of nutrient and suspended solids(SPS) during surve periods, and eutrophication led to the occurrence of red tides in April and October 2012 and April 2013 Our analyses revealed that the plankton communities of Bayuquan Port lacked stability and were af fecte seriously by external disturbance(e.g., oceanographic engineering and river runof f). Our data indicate tha oil, dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN), SPS, and chlorophyll a(Chl- a) were key factors that regulated th phytoplankton and zooplankton communities. The partial redundancy analysis(partial RDA) suggested tha oil and SPS were the most important environmental variables af fecting the phytoplankton community i April 2010 and 2012, whereas DIN concentration played a governing role in zooplankton dynamics. Oi and Chl-a concentrations af fected signifi cantly the zooplankton community in October 2012. Therefore, th plankton communities could refl ect both dynamic changes in coastal environmental factors and the ongoin eutrophication process caused by anthropogenic activities in this area.

文摘Objective:Intraperitoneal(IP)chemotherapy through subcutaneous port is an effective treatment for gastric cancer(GC)patients with peritoneal metastasis(PM).The objective of this study is to assess the port complications and risk factors for complications in GC patients with PM.Methods:In retrospective screening of 301 patients with subcutaneous ports implantation,249 GC patients with PM who received IP chemotherapy were screened out for analysis.Port complications and risk factors for complications were analyzed.Results:Of the 249 analyzed patients,57(22.9%)experienced port complications.Subcutaneous liquid accumulation(42.1%)and infection(28.1%)were the main complications,and other complications included port rotation(14.1%),wound dehiscence(12.3%),inflow obstruction(1.7%)and subcutaneous metastasis(1.7%).The median interval between port implantation and occurrence of complications was 3.0 months.Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG)performance status[odds ratio(OR),1.74;95%confidence interval(95%CI),1.12-2.69],albumin(OR,3.67;95%CI,1.96-6.86),implantation procedure optimization(OR,0.33;95%CI,0.18-0.61)and implantation groups(OR,0.37;95%CI,0.20-0.69)were independent risk factors for port complications(P<0.05).ECOG performance status was the only factor that related to the grades of port complications(P=0.016).Conclusions:Port complications in GC patients who received IP chemotherapy are manageable.ECOG performance status,albumin,implantation procedure and implantation group are independent risk factors for port complications in GC patients with PM.

文摘The seabed scouring and silting are very important to the construction of port and waterway engineering. Seabed deposition and erosion change is complicated due to the influence of sediment supply, human activities and other factors. The Yangshan Deepwater Port is the new deep water harbor, which is an important part of the Shanghai International Shipping Service Center. Its construction has received much attention. At present, the water depth from the 1 st to the 3 rd harbor district is currently suitable under regular dredging and tidal current action. The fourth harbor district will be built in the world’s largest fully-automated deep water wharf. In the study, bathymetry change of the entire sea area of the Yangshan Deepwater Port and the 4 th harbor district(i.e.,Phase IV project) waters were analyzed quantitatively using multiyear bathymetric, hydrological and sediment data. The results show that from 1998 to 2010, seabed changes are characterized by large volumes of erosion and sedimentation, which the southern part was deposited and the northern part was eroded in the inner harbor waters, but the seabed of the Kezhushan inlet was eroded. Seabed changes of Phase IV project waters generally show a scour tendency in recent few years with the annual scour rate about 0.7 m. Among the many factors, the existence of Kezhushan inlet and its influence of the western water flow play an important positive role in water depth changes under the ebb tide action.
文摘Introduction: Port site metastases have been reported with laparoscopic surgery. The mechanism of action is unknown. Theories include tumor tracking, spillage, pneumoperitoneum, and immune factors. Methods: We report on a case of aggressive port site metastases and intra-abdominal recurrence after an uncomplicated laparoscopic hysterectomy for a grade 2, minimally invasive endometrioid adenocarcinoma of the uterus. The world literature on port site metastases in gynecological cancer is reviewed. Results: Port site metastases have two distinct presentations. In the first pattern, the metastases are isolated to the laparoscopic port sites. In the second pattern, port site metastases are associated with widespread intra-abdominal recurrence. Conclusion: Port site metastases are rare but occur with laparoscopic surgery. Meticulous attention to surgical technique including the use of specimen bags to isolate tissue and prevent spillage should be performed. Data registries should be instituted to track the incidence and outcomes of port site metastases.

文摘The current research of seawater hydraulic motor mainly focused on piston motor and vane motor, but seldom regarded low speed high torque seawater hydraulic motor. Low speed high torque seawater hydraulic motor as a kind of energy conversion device and actuator plays an important role in seawater hydraulic transmission system. However, the physical and chemical properties of seawater, such as low viscosity, high causticity and poor lubrication, result in numerous problems. In this paper, the flow distribution characteristics of port plate pairs for the seawater hydraulic motor are investigated, and the leakage flow and power loss models of port plate pairs are established. Numerical simulations are carried out to examine the effects of water film, inlet pressure and rotating speed on the pressure distribution and leakage flow. And the friction and wear tests of port plate pairs are also carried out. Moreover, the test system of the seawater hydraulic motor is constructed and the performance of prototype with no-load or loading is conducted. The results indicate that the clearance of port plate pairs and inlet pressure have a significant effect on distribution characteristics, but the effect of rotating speed is not very obvious. The experimental results show that the minimum error rate can be maintained within 0.3% by the proposed flow model and the counter materials of 316 L against carbon-fiber-reinforced polyetheretherketone(CFRPEEK) are suitable for the port plate pairs of seawater hydraulic motor. Finally, based on the seawater hydraulic experiment platform, the volumetric efficiency of no-load and loading are obtained that the maximum can achieve 94.71% and 90.14%, respectively. This research work may improve the flow distribution performance, lubrication and the friction and wear properties, enhance energy converting efficiency of port plate pair and provide theoretical and technical support for the design of highperformance water hydraulic components.
文摘Port and terminal efficiency are of utmost importance to the container shipping industry due to their significance in enhancing the competitive advantage of ports within a region. Consequently, there have always been notable variations of studies around it. This paper analyzes the impact of privatization on terminal efficiency using the Port of Tema as a Case Study. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the efficiency trends of the public and private terminals in the port over the years. To achieve this objective, DEA-CCR methodology was employed to calculate the annual technical efficiency trends of the private and public terminals using four input variables and three output variables. The main results of the paper indicated that the public and private terminals were efficient for multiple years. However, the efficiency scores over the years demonstrated inconsistency, exhibiting notable fluctuations. The findings of this study will aid policymakers across the region on policies relating to the efficiency and ownership structure of ports and terminals.
文摘Objective: To evaluate the incidence of acute atopic conjunctivitis in the port environment. Methods: This is a descriptive, retrospective study involving 365 worker patients from the Port of Santos and 365 patients not related with port activities (control group). All patients were seen at the same private hospital in the city of Santos. Data were obtained by reviewing the electronic medical records of each patient related to the admission exam (initial) and to any assistance due to ocular allergic symptoms (red eyes) between 2019 and 2021. The analyzed data included age, sex, port section (port workers), refraction, time of symptom onset, disease history, treatment, and clinical outcome. Data were statistically assessed by the Chi-square test. Results: All patents were male. The mean age (34 ± 12 vs 35 ± 11 years) and the prevalence of refractive errors were similar between groups. In contrast, ocular allergic symptoms were significantly higher in group of port workers (34%) compared with non-port workers (17%), p < 0.0001. Likewise, episodes related to ocular allergy were more frequent in port workers, p < 0.05. Workers with activities related to bulk handling were the most affected. Conclusions: The incidence of acute allergic conjunctivitis in port workers requires attention from health authorities. This may lead to prevention and a better understanding of the epidemiology of the disease.
文摘The transshipment is an important issue in the current marine transportation. This paper constructed a mathematical programming model to elaborate the transshipment port selection for the shipping company. This model is tested by the data collected from the ports of Hong Kong and Kaohsiung. The results show that this model can be used to explain the transshipment competition relationship between the ports of Hong Kong and Kaohsiung well. A sensitivity analysis was also executed. The sensitivity analysis results showed that both the port of Hong Kong and Kaohsiung should decrease the charges of port and increase the effi- ciency of loading and discharging. Based on the sensitivity analysis results, some interesting conclusions and helpful suggestions were obtained for the managers of the ports of Hong Kong and Kaohsiung to improve their port management.

文摘The Port Island Formation(PIF), a typical Cretaceous red bed in Hong Kong, is dominated by non-fossiliferous, reddish clastic rocks, making it difficult to determine the sedimentary age of PIF precisely. Previous studies assigned the PIF to Late Cretaceous provisionally only on the basis of its stratigraphic sequence and lithology. This study identified a tuffite interlayer in the PIF and a zircon UPb age of 128.2±2.7 Ma by LA-ICP-MS method was obtained. It’s the first time to date the depositional age of the PIF with a reliable chronological constraint. With the support of stratigraphic evidence, we concluded that the geological age of PIF should be Early Cretaceous rather than Late Cretaceous. Based on the volcanic history of Hong Kong and Southeast China and the distribution of the PIF in Mirs Bay, it is believed that there was no volcanic activity in Hong Kong in ca. 128 Ma. The tuffite interlayer discovered in PIF was formed by the deposition of volcanic ash, which might originate from remote region outside Hong Kong, in an aquatic environment on Port Island. The identification of the tuffite interlayer, as the response to a volcanic event, has great significance not only to the studies of establishment and regional correlation of the strata system and the geological evolution in Hong Kong,but also to the study of volcanic activities in Southeast China.
文摘To protect the sustainability of the benefits from seas and near coastal areas,which have under the effect of the very complex hydrodynamic conditions and intensive human activities,without disrupting the balance of nature,it is necessary to image the status of the seafloor features.Therefore,this study presents the deformations,depositional conditions,underwater constructions,and the other non-natural impacts on the seafloor of the nearshore area at western Istanbul(between Küçükçekmece and Büyükçekmece lagoons)where it intensely used by the citizens.The results of the study may provide some guidance for understanding the impacts and risk factors of uses that are or will be conducted in coastal and/or near-coastal areas.Construction planning for civil coastal structures and areas should be done in great harmony with nature,minimizing negative environmental impacts.Although sediment distribution in the area is generally quite complex,the current state of the region,wave action,hydrodynamic conditions,the amount of material transported from the land,and bathymetry are important influencing factors.The seafloor has been damaged primarily by anchor deformation and associated bottom scanning,as well as disturbing trawl tracks.The seafloor was observed as partially shallowing near the constructions(such as natural gas pipelines,fishermen’s shelter,and port piles)of coastal areas and associated with sand deposits.Therefore,scanning the seafloor using side-scan sonar may provide valuable frequency data to prevent future disruptions.
文摘Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the anatomic-landmark and ultrasound-guided techniques in the placement of an internal jugular vein port in patients with advanced breast cancer. Methods: Between March 2010 and October 2010, 60 patients with advanced breast cancer underwent central venous port placement for the delivery of chemotherapy, preferably through the internal jugular vein. Patients were randomly assigned to either the anatomic-landmark or the ultrasound-guided group. Failure on first attempt, number of attempts until successful catheterization, time to successful placement, the accordance of the two placement approaches, and the demographics of each patient were recorded. Results: The consistency of the direction of two lines drawn using the anatomic-landmark and ultrasound-guided techniques or of the diameter of the internal jugular vein as determined by the two approaches was 85% (51/60). The rate of successful place- ment at first attempt was higher in the ultrasound group than in the anatomic-landmark group (P 〈 0.05). A greater number of attempts and longer time to successful port placement were needed in the latter (P 〈 0.05). Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that, in the placement of an internal jugular vein port, the ultrasound (US)-guJded technique has several advantages over the anatomic-landmark technique.
文摘The prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus (AIDS) and hepatitis B virus among heavy truck drivers and their assistants has been well documented globally in correlation with their behavioral characteristics. The present study aimed to screen for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), and behavioral characteristics among heavy truck drivers in Port Sudan. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 274 heavy truck drivers and their assistants who used the highway Port Sudan-Khartoum in Port Sudan city during 2019-2021. Data on behavioral characteristics and substance use habits were collected using a structured questionnaire, and an ELISA test was used to screen for HIV and HBV infections in the study participants. The chi-square test, odds ratio, and confidence intervals were used to find the association between behavioral characteristics and seropositive HIV/HBV. Of the 274 enrolled participants, the seroprevalence rates of HIV were 2.7% and HBV was 23.7%. Ninety-four (34.3%) of them had a history of high-risk sexual behavior outside of marriage;only two (0.7%) used condoms;14.2% of participants reported alcohol use;and 1.1% reported drug use. Univariate analysis revealed that having a sex history outside of marriage with ≥1 sex partner and never using a condom with a spouse or casual partner were significant risk factors for HIV and HBV among drivers. Fortunately, we found that most of the drivers reported low alcohol and drug use. Concerning this study, the seroprevalence of HIV and HBV is highly associated with a history of having sex outside of marriage and sexual behavior among truck drivers and assistances. Additional studies are needed to further investigate other STIs and behavioral characteristics associated with factors in truck drivers/assistance in different truck stop regions in Sudan.
文摘Urban centers are consistently exhibiting higher temperature than its surrounding suburban rural areas. The large amount of heat generated from urban structures such as road materials and pavement materials and other anthropogenic heat sources are the main causes of Urban Heat Island (UHI). The sources of data for this research included primary and secondary sources. Other techniques employed for data collection were direct measurement and readings on the road and pavement materials. The research found out that, there was consistency in rising temperature at different time of the day by the different road and pavement materials. Asphalt has the greatest effect of increasing the urban temperature four degrees higher, followed by concrete, three degree rise in temperature, and earth (ordinary ground) by two degree rise and vegetation (grass) by one degree rise in temperature. The overall effect on the residents of the study area ranges from increase in hotness of the day;44.6% respondents agrees;while 34.3% says it affects the ambient air quality of the area, and other effects such as increased ground level ozone, suffocation, sleeplessness and restlessness as a result of excessive high temperature especially at night are identified in this paper. The research recommends the review or redesigning of the entire Port Harcourt city Master Plan to make provision for creation of more green areas rather than pavements and concreted areas to reduce the effects of (UHI) and ultimately improve the comfort and living conditions of the people in a the garden city Port Harcourt.

文摘The Himalayas are prone to glacial lake outburst floods,which can pose a severe threat to downstream villages and infrastructure.The Zhangmu and Gyirong land treaty ports are located on the China-Nepal border in the central Himalayas.In recent years,the expansion of glacial lakes has increased the threat of these two port regions.This article describes the results of mapping the glacial lakes larger than 0.01 km^2 in the Zhangmu and Gyirong port regions and analyzes their change.It provides a comprehensive assessment of potentially dangerous glacial lakes and predicts the development of future glacial lakes.From 1988 to 2019,the glacial lakes in these port regions underwent"expansion",and moraine-dammed lakes show the most significant expansion trend.A total of eleven potentially dangerous glacial lakes are identified based on the assessment criteria and historical outburst events;most expanded by more than 150%from 1988 to 2019,with some by over 500%.The Cirenmaco,a moraine-dammed lake,is extremely prone to overtopping due to ice avalanches or the melting of dead ice in the dam.For other large lakes,such as the Jialongco,Gangxico and Galongco,ice avalanches may likely cause the lakes to burst besides self-destructive failure.The potential dangers of the Youmojianco glacial lakes,including lakes Nos.9,10 and 11,will increase in the future.In addition,the glacier-bed topography model predicts that 113 glacial lakes with a size larger than 0.01 km^2,a total area of 11.88 km2 and a total volume of 6.37×10^9 m^3 will form in the study area by the end of the 21 century.Due to global warming,the glacial lakes in the Zhangmu and Gyirong port regions will continue to grow in the short term,and hence the risk of glacial lake outburst floods will increase.
