In the past decade,there has been extensive global surveillance for highly pathogenic avian influenza(HPAI)infection in both animals and humans,however,few studies on epidemiology of avian influenza in Democratic Peo...In the past decade,there has been extensive global surveillance for highly pathogenic avian influenza(HPAI)infection in both animals and humans,however,few studies on epidemiology of avian influenza in Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(DPRK)were published.During the period 2013–2014,HPAI H5N1 viruses were detected with outbreaks in domestic poultry in DPRK.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the hemagglutinin gene of all samples belonged to clade 2.3.2.1c with high homology.The HPAI H5N1 virus found in ducks at the Tudan Duck Farm in 2013 was might introduced by migratory birds and then led to the outbreaks on neighboring chicken farms in 2014.These data provide direct evidence for the transmission of avian influenza viruses from wild birds to waterfowl to terrestrial birds.Therefore,the monitoring and control of influenza virus in ducks must be given top priority,which are essential components to prevent and control HPAI.展开更多

Aside others, the DLR Institute of Space Propulsion investigates a N20/C2I-I4 premixed green propellant. During the research activities, flashback from the rocket combustion chamber into the feeding system has been identified as a major challenge when using the propellant mixture. This paper shows the results of ignition experiments conducted in a cylindrical, optical accessible ignition chamber. During the ignition and flame propagation process, pressure, temperature and high-speed video data were collected. The high speed video data were used to analyze the flame propagation speed. The obtained propagation speed was about 20 rn/s at ignition, while during further propagation of the flame speeds of up to 120 m/s were measured. Additionally, two different porous materials as flame arresting elements were tested: Porous stainless steel and porous bronze material. For both materials Peclet numbers for flashback were derived. The critical Peclet number for the sintered bronze material was around 20, while for the sintered stainless steel the critical Peclet number seems to be larger than 40. Due to the test results, sintered porous materials seem to be suitable as flashback arresters.展开更多

The crystal structure (with a novel 3-D network) of this compound belongs to monoclinic, space group P2 1/n, a=0.49544(1) nm, b=1.32443(2) nm, c=1.04983(1) nm, β=101.586(1)°. The diffuse reflectance spectra (200~2500 nm) showed that the polymer had strong absorbance in 375~563 nm (E g≈2.5 eV) region and weak absorbance from 720 to 2500 nm (near infrared spectra).展开更多

There are two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit exhibiting intermolecular C-H…N, C-H…O interactions with additional π-π interaction that further helps in stabilizing the supramolecular structure. Objective:It is well known that stress plays a critical role in immune response and susceptibility to diseases.Among many stressors,restraint stress has been shown to suppress immune function and increase susceptibili...Objective:It is well known that stress plays a critical role in immune response and susceptibility to diseases.Among many stressors,restraint stress has been shown to suppress immune function and increase susceptibility to infections.In this study,we employed a restraint-mouse model to investigate the effect and preliminary mechanism of ShiQi herbal tea(SQHT),a traditional Chinese medicine,on H1N1 virus infection.Methods:Mice were exposed to restraint stress and infected with H1N1 influenza virus by intranasal inoculation.SQHT(936 and 1872 mg/kg/d)was orally administrated to mice for 7 days from the first day of restraint stress.The survival rate of mice in each group was monitored daily for 21 days.Histopathological changes,inflammatory cells infiltration,and virus titer in lungs were examined.For the study of mechanisms,we investigated whether SQHT could promote interferon-β(IFN-β)generation and interferon stimulated genes(ISG)expression.Results:Our results suggested that SQHT(936 mg/kg/d)significantly reduced H1N1-induced mortality,the level of complement C5a and lung tissue inflammation,and viral replication in restraint-stressed mice.Further results revealed that in restraint-stressed mice model,SQHT(936 mg/kg/d)administration markedly improved IFN-βgeneration,and increased MX1 and IFITM3 gene expression.Conclusion:Our study demonstrates that SQHT reduces restraint stress-induced susceptibility to H1N1 infection via improving IFN-βantiviral pathway,which provides a certain basis for the clinical use of SQHT to treat H1N1 infection.展开更多
