The Impact of Street Interviews on Chinese EFL Undergraduates’Intercultural Communicative Competence

The study adopts Byram’s Intercultural Communicative Competence(ICC)model as the theoretical framework,and structured interviews were conducted to explore the impact of street interviews on the participants’ICC.Analysis results revealed street interviews help students acquire knowledge in intercultural attitudes,intercultural knowledge,skills of discovery and interaction,and critical cultural awareness,aligning with the four components of Byram’s ICC model.Meanwhile,they have positive perceptions of street interviews.Therefore,street interviews have a positive effect on the development of participants’ICC.

On Communication Models

With the development of human society,the social hub enlarges beyond one community to the extent that the world is deemed as a community as a whole.Communication,therefore,plays an increasingly important role in our daily life.As a consequence,communication model or the definition of which is not so much a definition as a guide in communication.However,some existed communication models are not as practical as it was.This paper tries to make an overall contrast among three communication models——Coded Model,Gable's Communication Model and Ostensive Inferential Model,to see how they assist people to comprehend verbal and non-verbal communication.

Evaluation of Technical Education by Using a Modern Structured MOODLE Laboratory Course, in Relation to Recent Data

E-learning platforms support education systems worldwide, transferring theoretical knowledge as well as soft skills. In the present study high-school pupils’, and adult students’ opinions were evaluated through a modern structured MOODLE interactive course, designed for the needs of the laboratory course “Automotive Systems”. The study concerns Greek secondary vocational education pupils aged 18 and vocational training adult students aged 20 to 50 years. The multistage, equal size simple random cluster sample was used as a sampling method. Pupils and adult students of each cluster completed structured 10-question questionnaires both before and after attending the course. A total of 120 questionnaires were collected. In general, our findings disclosed that the majority of pupils and adult students had significantly improved their knowledge and skills from using MOODLE. They reported strengthening conventional teaching, using the new MOODLE technology. The satisfaction indices improved quite, with the differences in their mean values being statistically significant.

An executable modeling and analyzing approach to C4ISR architecture

To analyze the behavioral model of the command,control,communication,computer,intelligence,surveillance,reconnaissance(C4ISR)architecture,we propose an executable modeling and analyzing approach to it.First,the meta concept model of the C4ISR architecture is introduced.According to the meta concept model,we construct the executable meta models of the C4ISR architecture by extending the meta models of fUML.Then,we define the concrete syntax and executable activity algebra(EAA)semantics for executable models.The semantics functions are introduced to translating the syntax description of executable models into the item of EAA.To support the execution of models,we propose the executable rules which are the structural operational semantics of EAA.Finally,an area air defense of the C4ISR system is used to illustrate the feasibility of the approach.

A critical reflection on improving effective team communication

Objective: This paper aims at critically reflecting on the author's personal experience in the context of communication within a nursing team and exploring relevant existing constraints with a view to improving practice and achieving more effective outcomes in team communication.Methods: Critical emancipatory reflection is used to evaluate and interpret the author's practice. Smyth's model serves as a framework to guide critical reflection step by step in this paper. Relevant theoretical perspectives help to make sense of the author's performance in terms of team communication.Results: It is identified via emancipatory reflection that the author endorses the ideas of equality, respect, trust, and collaboration, which were formed and established during the process of professional socialization. However, different constraints, such as sociocultural,historical, political, and personal factors, impede the author from performing more effectively in terms of team communication.Reconstruction provides the author opportunities to take actions to rectify constraints and avoid the reemergence of previous situations in the future.Conclusions: Reflection is an effective way to gather knowledge and develop comprehensive understanding of practice. Alternative actions for effective team communication are recommended, including formulating ground rules for discussion, guiding nurses in the correct way, transforming conflicts within a team, being an active and reflective listener, and motivating nurses to actively create.

Prospectivity modeling of porphyry copper deposits: recognition of efficient mono-and multi-element geochemical signatures in the Varzaghan district, NW Iran

The Varzaghan district at the northwestern margin of the Urumieh–Dokhtar magmatic arc, is considered a promising area for the exploration of porphyry Cu deposits in Iran. In this study we identified mono-and multi-element geochemical anomalies associated with Cu–Au–Mo–Bi mineralization in the central parts of the Varzaghan district by applying the concentration–area fractal method. After mono-element geochemical investigations, principal component analysis was applied to ten selected elements in order to acquire a multi-element geochemical signature based on the mineralization-related component. Quantitative comparisons of the obtained fractal-based populations were carried out in accordance with known Cu occurrences using Student's t-values. Then,significant mono-and multi-element geochemical layers were separately combined with related geologic and structural layers to generate prospectivity models, using the fuzzy GAMMA approach. For quantitative evaluation of the effectiveness of different geochemical signatures in final prospectivity models, a prediction-area plot was adapted. The results show that the multi-element geochemical signature of principal component one(PC1) is more effective than mono-element layers in delimiting exploration targets related to porphyry Cu deposits.

Cow milkα_(s1)-casein induces allergic responses in a mouse model of atopy

α_(s1)-Casein is a potential allergen to induce hypersensitivity in cow milk.We had identifiedα_(s1)-casein and its epitopes in previous studies.The present study aimed to evaluate the allergic mechanism ofα_(s1)-casein in a BALB/c mouse model.The levels of specific IgE,mast cell proteinase,histamine and cytokines in sensitized mice were determined,and the clinical and pathological observation were evaluated.Results showed that the levels of specific IgE,mast cell proteinase,histamine,IL-4,IL-5,IL-10 increased significantly with a dose-dependent trend.The local alveolar septum collapsed or thickened,and lymphatic foci were produced in the spleen and thymus,and the inflammatory cells infiltrated in small intestinal mucosa mesenchyme.In conclusion,the levels of specific IgE,mast cell proteinase,histamine,IL-4,IL-5,IL-10 and some inflammatory factors could possibly serve as allergic biomarkers ofα_(s1)-casein,however,additional studies on signal transduction and gene expression are necessary in future.

Estimates of EAST Operation Window with LHCD by Using a Core-SOL-Divertor Model

An experimental advanced superconducting tokamak （EAST） operation window with the lower hybrid current drive （LHCD） in H-mode is estimated by using a eore-SOL-divertor （C-S-D） model validated by the present EAST divertor experiments. The operation window consists of four limits including two usual limits, one of which is the maximum allowable heat load onto the divertor plate, and two additional limits associated with the LHCD. The predictive EAST operation window is not qualified to fulfill its mission for high input power. To extend the operation window, gas puffing and impurity seeding are presented as two effective methods. In addition, the effect of the LHCD current on the operation window is also discussed. Our numerical analysis results provide a reference for the safe operation of EAST experiments with LHCD in future.

Ethical Problems in MTI Students’Escort Interpreting from the Perspective of Chesterman’s Models on Translation Ethics

The professionalization of translation has been discussed by many scholars in recent years,which has inspired the intense discussion of translation ethics.Drawing upon Chesterman’s models on translation ethics,this paper intends to examine the ethical problems in MTI students’escort interpreting for Vanuatu Sport Technical Assistance Project for the Pacific Mini Games in 2017 and China-ASEAN International Capacity Cooperation Forum in 2016.The data was collected by the methods of participant observation and informal interviews in the process of the two interpreting projects,especially the six-month assistance project.The ethical problems in the escort interpreting and the reasons that caused the problems were analyzed through case study.It is found that the major ethical problems that occurred are related to the ethics of communication,the norm-based ethics,and the ethics of commitment.These ethical problems were mainly related to the student escort interpreters’language proficiency,professional qualities,and intercultural/interpersonal communication competence.Some solutions are suggested based on Chesterman’s models on translation ethics.It is hoped that the research findings can provide some references to the implementation of the similar interpreting programs in the future,and enhance interpreting teaching and training programs.

基于角色权限管理的B/S与C/S模式相结合的教务管理系统安全体系的研究与设计

阐述了目前高校教务管理系统存在的各种安全问题,综合分析各种安全问题出现的原因,论证了建立教务管理系统安全体系的必要性.分析目前比较常用的B/S模式与C/S模式的优缺点,并针对高校教务管理系统的特殊性,提出基于B/S与C/S模式相结合的高校教务管理系统模型,弥补二者单独应用所存在的缺点与不足.同时,为了避免由于服务器配置不当,或者Web设计代码存在缺陷而使系统处于风险中,又在该模型基础上引入角色权限管理的机制,把教务管理的工作结构通过角色映射到系统中,实现系统权限与角色对应,而不是用户本身,最终设计了基于RBAC的B/S与C/S模式相结合的教务管理系统安全体系模型,从而使教务管理系统中信息的安全性得到了保障,同时也保证了系统安全、稳定、快捷的运行.

一个基于C/S与B/S混合架构的应用实例解析

文章分析了传统C／S模型和三层B／S模型各自的特点。在一实际应用系统中采用了两种模型相结合的策略，并作了进一步的改进，通过引入文件服务器等独特方式，充分发挥其各自优势，取得了良好的效果。

西藏班公湖-怒江成矿带西段富铁矿与铜(金)矿C、Si、O、S和Pb同位素特征及地质意义

本文在大量的野外地质调查与室内研究的基础上,对班公湖-怒江成矿带西段的4个典型矿床———材玛矽卡岩型铁矿床、弗野矽卡岩型铁矿床、尕尔穷矽卡岩型铜金矿床和多不杂斑岩型铜金矿床的C、Si、O、S和Pb同位素特征进行了研究。δ30Si、δ18O的研究结果表明,石英主要为岩浆热液成因,δ13C、δ18O同位素的研究结果表明,与成矿有关的矽卡岩、磁铁矿大理岩中的碳除部分来源于海相碳酸盐岩的溶解外,主要来源于地幔,多不杂矿区的硫同位素研究结果表明成矿物质主要来自岩浆流体。多不杂和尕尔穷矿区岩石样品中的铅同位素研究显示其属于造山带构造环境,部分接近下地壳。因此,尕尔穷和多不杂矿区的铅同位素组成主要是班公湖-怒江成矿带在弧-陆碰撞造山过程中形成的。班公湖-怒江成矿带西段的区域成矿模式初步总结为早白垩世深源岩浆流体与二叠纪、三叠纪和白垩纪的海相碳酸盐岩接触的外接触带形成了矽卡岩型矿体,在与中侏罗统和下白垩统砂岩、粉砂岩接触处的内外接触带形成了斑岩型矿体。
