Technical papers, both for theoretical and practical investigations, have reached a huge amount in number. On the other hand, fractional chaos, as a parallel ongoing research topic, also attracts many researchers to investigate. As far as the IT field is concerned, the research on control systems by using fractional chaos known as FOC (fractional order control) has been a hot issue for quite a long time. As a comparison, interesting enough, up to now we have not found any research result related to Fractional Chaos Communi- cation (FCC) system, i.e., a system based on fractional chaos. The motivation of the present article is to reveal the feasibility of realizing communication systems based upon FCC and their superiority over the conventional integer chaotic communication systems. Principles of FCC and its advantages over integer chaotic communication systems are also discussed.展开更多

So far, all studies concentrate on two aspects: (1) the effect of the transmission channel between the transmitter and the receiver has been neglected, and (2) the chaos and the signal are carried by one wavelength. Both theoretical and experimental investigations展开更多

Key techniques in AON include optical switching/routing, optical cross connection (OXC), all optical wavelength conversion (AOWC), all optical buffering, etc. Opti- cal switching/routing is in fact wavelength switching/ routing. OXC and wavelength conversion (WC) are introduced into cross nodes so that a virtual wavelength path is established. With WC, communication route is formed only if there is unused wavelength in an individual segment link. The rate wavelength usage is thus greatly increased. The blocking rate of network can be reduced by adding WCs, especially for huge capacity multiple nodes ones. Therefore, WC has attracted much attention in basic research of optical communication and is used in some experimental networks. This dissertation studies all optic wavelength conversion and its application, with the contributions in the following five aspects.展开更多

With the help of data bit estimated before correlation detection, this new detector could remove the modulated chaotic segment that would form intra-signal interference component in the correlator output from every received information-bearing signal in HE-DCSK, leading to greatly and effectively improved system bit error rate (BER) performance. The effectiveness of this proposed detector is studied analytically based on the numerical integration method and evaluated by computer simulation in additive-white-Gaussian- noise (AWGN) channel. Simulation results reveal that the proposed detector can dramatically improve the overall BER performance of HE-DCSK even at relatively low signal noise ratio (SNR) levels.展开更多
