Curbing Charging Currents in Pulsed Field Emission by Prolonging Pulse Edges

In field emission under a non-dc voltage, a displacement current is inevitable due to charging the cathode–anode condenser. Under an often-used square voltage pulse, in which the voltage rises from zero to a certain value abruptly, the charging current in the circuit is very large at the rising and falling edges. This large charging current makes measurement of the actual emissive current from the cathode difficult, constitutes a threat to the components in the circuit and causes attenuation of the emissive current within the pulse. To alleviate these drawbacks, trapezoid voltage pulses, whose rising edges are extended dramatically in comparison with square voltage pulses, are employed to extract the field emission. Under a trapezoid voltage pulse, the charging current is clearly lowered as expected. Furthermore, the heat generated by the charging current under the trapezoid voltage pulse is much smaller than that under the square voltage pulse. Hence the emissive current does not show any attenuation within the pulse. Finally, the average emissive currents are found to decrease with the repetition frequency of the pulses. 展开更多

Characteristics of electron emission induced by a surface flashover trigger device in a low-pressure trigger switch were investigated. A test method to measure the emitted charges from the trigger device was developed, and the factors affecting the emitted charges were analyzed. The results indicated that the major emitted charges from the trigger device were induced by surface plasma generated by surface flashover occurring on the trigger dielectric material. The emitted charges and the peak emission current increased linearly with the change in the trigger voltage and bias voltage. The emitted charges collected from the anode were affected by the gap distance. However, the emitted charges were less affected by the anode diameter. Furthermore, the emitted charges and the peak emission current decreased rapidly with the increase in gas pressure in a range from 0 Pa to 100 Pa, and then remained stable or changed slightly when the increase in gas pressure up to 2400 Pa. 展开更多

The characteristics of the triggered vacuum switch (TVS) are obviously influenced by the emission current ie and emission charge of the trigger device. In this paper, an RC charge collector is designed, and the characteristics of emission current ie and collecting charge Qc of the trigger device are studied. The experimental results indicate that the emission current ie which is produced by the initial plasma has both positive and negative components, and the polarity of the emission current ie depends mainly on the polarity of the bias voltage UBias. The emission current ie and collecting charge Qe increase with the increase of the trigger voltage Utr and the bias voltage UBias. The emission efficient r] increases linearly with the increase of the bias voltage UBias. When the gap distance is 15 mm and bias voltage UBias is 160 V and trigger voltage Utr is 2.6 kV, the emission efficiency r/reaches 6% 展开更多

Pseudo-spark switch(PSS) is one of the most widely used discharge switches for pulse power technology.It has many special characteristics such as reliability in a wide voltage range,small delay time,as well as small delay jitter.In this paper,the measuring method for the initial plasma of ZnO surface flashover triggering device of PSS is studied and the results of the measurement show that the electron emission charge is mainly influenced by trigger voltage,gas pressure and DC bias voltage.When the bias voltage increases from 2 kV to 6 kV with the gap distancc fixed at 3 mm,the electron emission charge changes from 2 μC to about 6μC.When the gap distance changes from 3 mm to 5 mm with the bias voltage fixed at 2 kV,the electron emission charge increases from 1.5 μC to 2.5μC.When the gap distance is 4 mm,the hold-off voltage of PSS is 45 kV at gas pressure of 2 Pa,the minimum operating voltage is less than 1 kV.So,the operating scope is from 2.22%to 99%of its self-breakdown voltage.The discharging delay time decreases from 450 ns to 150 ns when the trigger pulse voltage is 1 kV and the discharging voltage is changed from 1 kV to 12 kV.When the trigger pulse voltage is 6 kV,the discharging delay time is less than 100 ns and changes from 100 ns to 50 ns,and the delay jitters are less than30 ns. 展开更多

The correlation between the shape of rapidity distribution of the yield of light charged particles and the fragmentation modes in semi-peripheral collisions for70Zn+70Zn,64Zn+64Zn and64Ni+64Ni at the beam energy of 35 Me V/nucleon is investigated based on Im QMD05 code. Our studies show there is an interplay between the binary, ternary and multi-fragmentation break-up modes.The binary and ternary break-up modes more prefer to emit light charged particles at middle rapidity and give larger values of Rmid yieldcompared with the multi-fragmentation break-up mode does. The reduced rapidity distribution for the normalized yields of p, d, t,3He,4He and6 He and the corresponding values of Rmid yieldcan be used to estimate the probability of multi-fragmentation break-up modes. By comparing to experimental data, our results illustrate that 40% of the collisions events belong to the multifragmentation break-up mode for the reactions we studied. 展开更多

Food waste treatment plants (FWTPs) are usually associated with odorous nuisance and health risks, which are partially caused by volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. This study investigated the VOC emissions from a selected full-scale FWTP in China. The feedstock used in this plant was mainly collected from local restaurants. For a year, the FWTP was closely monitored on specific days in each season. Four major indoor treatment units of the plant, including the storage room, sorting/crushing room, hydrothermal hydrolysis unit, and aerobic fermentation unit, were chosen as the monitoring locations. The highest mean concentration of total VOC emissions was observed in the aerobic fermentation unit at 21,748.2-31,283.3 μg/m^3, followed by the hydrothermal hydrolysis unit at 10,798.1-23,144.4 μg/m^3. The detected VOC families included biogenic compounds (oxygenated compounds, hydrocarbons, terpenes, and organosulfur compounds) and abiogenic compounds (aromatic hydrocarbons and halocarbons). Oxygenated compounds, particularly alcohols, were the most abundant compounds in all samples. With the use of odor index analysis and principal components analysis, the hydrothermal hydrolysis and aerobic fermentation units were clearly distinguished from the pre-treatment units, as characterized by their higher contributions to odorous nuisance. Methanthiol was the dominant odorant in the hydrothermal hydrolysis unit, whereas aldehyde was the dominant odorant in the aerobic fermentation unit. Terpenes, specifically limonene, had the highest level of propylene equivalent concentration during the monitoring periods. This concentration can contribute to the increase in the atmospheric reactivity and ozone formation potential in the surrounding air. 展开更多

The dimethylacridine-based electron donor(Br Ac) with excellent aggregation ability can co-aggregate with a triazine-based electron acceptor(TRZ) to form nanorods in water, which exhibit CT emission with long lifetime(τ = 0.92 μs).As for a similar electron donor(Qa Ac) with poor aggregation ability, water-soluble pillar[5]arene(WP5)can be introduced to promote the aggregation process, leading to the obvious CT emission with long lifetime(τ = 0.61 μs). In addition, structural modification of the acceptor with substituent groups possessing stronger electron-accepting capabilities will cause red-shift(about 50 nm) of the emission, which allows conveniently constructing long lifetime organic luminescent materials with different emission colors. 展开更多

In addition, the influence of charge compensation ion Li+ which has a more obvious role in improving luminescence intensity on CaYA1307: Eu3+ phosphor is intentionally discussed in detail and a possible mechanism of charge compensation is given. Fabrication of efficient solid luminogens with tunable emission is both fundamentally significant and technically important. Herein, based on our previous strategy for the construction of efficient and multifunctional solid luminogens through the combination of diverse aggregation-induced emission (ALE) units with other functional moieties, a group of luminophores with electron donor-acceptor (D-A) structure and typical intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) characteristics, namely CZ-DCDPP, DPA-DCDPP and DBPA-DCDPP were synthesized and investigated. The presence of twisting and AlE-active 2,3- dicyano-S,6-diphenylpyrazine (DCDPP) moiety endows them highly emissive in the solid states, whereas the introduction of arylamines with varied electron-donating capacity and different conjugation render them with tunable solid emissions from green to red. While CZ-DCDPP and DPA-DCDPP solids exhibit distinct mechanochromism, both DPA-DCDPP and DBPA-DCDPP solids can generate efficient red emission. Owing to their high efficiency, remarkable thermal and morphological stabilities and moreover red emission, they are promising for diverse optoelectronic and biological applications. 展开更多
