Increasingly engaged in maritime governance,China has developed its distinct vision and gradually established a complete theoretical system surrounding it.In terms of discourse,China has proposed a collection of concepts and ideas including a maritime community with a shared future, the 2lst Century Maritime Silk Road,Blue Partnerships, and marine ecological civilization. In terms of connotations,China champions such values as lasting peace, common prosperity, openness and inclusiveness, and cleanness and beautifulness.Exteriorly and interiorly,we can observe the unique character of China's vision concerning maritime governance, which will continue to upgrade and bear fruit in future practices, boosting the development of Chinese maritime governance theories, multilateral maritime cooperation, and ocean-related international legislation.Guided by its vision,China is expected to contribute more to global maritime security and marine ecological civilization. 展开更多

Based on the analysis on the global economic crisis, climate change crisis and their mutual underlying reasons, the authors believe that low-carbon economy has become an inevitable choice to break through the dual crises, coordinate the economic development, and protect the global climate. The global trend of low-carbon economy finds expression in Green Recovery currently, while,in a long run,it will give rise to a new pattern of world competition in politics, economy, technology, trade and finance. The impact of the global trend of low-carbon economy on China can not be overlooked, and it is both a challenge and an opportunity for China's future development.Based on comparative studies on the low-carbon economy of China, the U.S.,EU and Japan, the authors conclude that China should blaze a new path of lowcarbon economy development with Chinese characteristics, and the authors have put forward relevant countermeasures for China to address the global trend of low-carbon economy from angles of countries, enterprises and the public 展开更多

Globalization, which is characterized by the escalating mobility of capital, people, ideas and information on a universal scale, has become a sweeping theme in the contemporary world. Tourism and its associated economic activities are evidently not immune to such a wider context of the world economy. In the past one or two decades, a stable increase has been witnessed in international tourist flows, inter-regional and inter-organizational alliances, and foreign direct investment. These trends are especially prevalent in the developing world, largely because of their pristine nature, di- verse culture, inexpensive goods and services, cheap labours, and other resources. However, it has been cautioned by some scholars, especially those from the Third World countries, that tourism is an industry run by and for the rich, more powerful nations and their corresponding multinational corporations. This article, from the perspective of political economy, supplemented with views from development studies, made a normative analysis on the impacts of the glob- alization of tourism on the Third World destination countries. Specifically, these impacts have been detailed in terms of economic, sociocultural, and ecological domains. It was demonstrated that without appropriate planning and manage- ment, the costs of Third World tourism development may accrue to the extent that its benefits are burned out. To avoid this happening, some suggestions have been made. 展开更多

Circular Economy in HealthCare Challenges and Issues

Some major countries like India investing in biopharmaceutical industry have designed new business models of circular economics called the“Uber for HealthCare”for instance by Basu et al.,for medical equipment in India(Euro,Healthcare Stream,&Dublin 2018).This raises major challenges for global supply of medicine and Value Chains in life science. This contribution will provide a review of recent experiences and an analysis of how it impacts current global value chains.Current economic model development strengthening the demand side of the system and applications of choice modeling to capture heterogeneity of demand at individual level face with new circular strategies implemented by health care organizations and economic suppliers. The all-value system is challenged by such models including the critical decision points at prognostic, diagnostic, and treatment stages;platforms such as the Her2adaptive technology platform with cost sensitivity indexes proposed by Huttin and Liebman(Technology&HealthCare,2011)face also potential adaptation to integrate new priorities:for instance,in circular economy with integration of circular touch points.Research results like Van Boerdonk et al.(2021),demonstrate that reaching cleaner production with higher environmental values may become“paradoxical with lower or unimportant customer value”.Government and payers may need to create new policies for waste management and for sustaining reasonable and fair value for money in the health system. Moreover, the economics of sharing economy may need to find appropriate forms of centralization or decentralization in the organizations of health systems and decision-making processes.Circular models in health care in sharing economy may benefit single pathway models, often too expensive for affordable welfare contracts. This paper will continue the previous research agenda and papers on global value chains with the use of TiVa OECD database(joined in the WB-WTO project)and a quality paper on the biotech development chain and Covid-19(Huttin,2019;2021). 展开更多

As the coronavirus pandemic spreads through the continents,it has dramatically disrupted everything in the global economy from stock markets and supply chains to oil and food prices, and in seeking to restrict the spread of COVID-19,governments are shutting down whole commercial sectors which could cause a huge recession in some countries as the United Nations have already warned. All these new circumstances have raised again the fundamental questions about the future of our global economy. Therefore, this paper has tried to make sense of how the post-pandemic global economy would look like by shedding light on Jeremy Rifkin’s theory of the new industrial revolution and the coming disruption in the global market. 展开更多

China's current economic transformation has its historical reasons and its urgent need of change. With over 30 years of reform and opening-up, China's economy experienced high-speed growth for a sustained period, but China is still confronted with many obstacles which call for immediate attention, such as shortage of resources, deterioration of the environment, structural imbalance, and intensified social conflict. If these problems persist, an ominous future would not be avoided unless an economic transformation was in effect. As China's economic power and international influence increase, its economic transformation will significantly impact not only its domestic economy, but also the world economy. This article analyzes the transformation of China's economy from an international perspective, particularly focuses on the relationship between China's transformation and the economies of most developed countries (e.g., United States and EU) by comparing data and analyzing impacts caused by each other. At the end, the article will provide some suggestions for further research. 展开更多

"Global economic imbalance" and "global economic rebalancing" have aroused great interest among international economic and.financial research circles. As the global financial crisis begins to abate, some Western countries have used "global economic rebalancing" as an excuse for trade protectionism and restricting the foreign economic development of developing nations. As the basic theoretical justification for the "global economic imbalance," the theory of international trade equilibrium is wrong both in theory and in practice, because it has never been proven in the 200 years of history since the Industrial Revolution. "Global economic rebalancing" contains serious policy traps and does not generate any winners. The exchange rate is only one of the)actors which affect international trade;furthermore, it is not the fundamental mechanism. With the U.S. dollar retaining its status as the key currency of the international monetary system, it is impossible for the United States to achieve long-term foreign economic and trade equilibrium. The United States' trade deficit is an inevitable result of the dollar's status as an international currency. 展开更多

As in the other countries around the world, banking systems in Eurasian economies, comprised of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, were adversely affected by the 2008 global crisis. A common challenge across most economies is to revive private-sector credit growth. Compared with the high increases of 80 percent in the period immediately prior to the crisis, credit growth has slowed sharply and even turned negative in real terms in a number of economies. Governments in many countries have taken measures to address banking sector stress. The measures for restoring credit growth and thus a high economic growth will be discussed in a part of our work. In the short run, such measures include aiding banks to repair balance sheets and also providing liquidity. In the medium term, measures should promote de-dollarization and the development of local debt markets. 展开更多

Many have argued that the international community shouM establish a global emissions trading scheme (ETS) to reduce emissions and streamline efforts to mitigate climate change. This paper argues against establishing such global ETS for the following reasons: (1) a global ETS may assist developed countries in cutting emissions abatement cost, but it may also result in deterioration in the welfare of developing countries; (2) each nation participating in providing global public goods shall be dedicated to forming "Lindahl equilibrium" under the principle of common but differentiated responsibility, rather than the "Walrasian equilibrium ", which is represented in a global ETS," (3) the establishment of a global ETS has its driving forces as it is seen as a preferred regulatory form for industrial special interest groups in developed economies, since its benefits is biased rather than promoting global economic and environmental efficiency; and (4) the developing countries shouM be more cautious when designing tools of climate policies and need to avoid to be locked in emission trading systems. 展开更多

This study attempts to clarify the role of religious values in the rise of new pious Muslim entrepreneurs in Turkey, based on field study carried out in Kayseri of 1980 to present. It particularly attempts to account for the influence of religion over the work ethic of these entrepreneurs, popularly known as "Anatolian Tigers". To achieve the goals of this research, in-depth interviews were held with 30 Turkish business people from religious and secular backgrounds. The new pious middle class is engaged in forming its own path of modernity by directly addressing the needs that are ignored by the secular republican project and its elites. The case of Turkey indicates that Westernization is not the only possible path to modernity. This new development, if it indeed continues, may prove to be one of the most important transformations determining the future of Turkey. Numerous books and articles have been published on Islamic economics but there is no details works on which provide a qualitative overview of the dynamics for the evolution of Turkish "Islamic capital". There has been little published material which assesses the acceptability of a pro-oriented system of ~conomic life to the values and moral code of the Turkish people. The Turkish situation offers a comprehensive picture of what Islamic capital can encompass, such as Islamic partnerships, holdings, banks, and business associations, and also how it can be effectively integrated within the democratic framework by adapting a "Muslim ethics" compatible with capitalism. The main aims of this study are to evaluate the social, economic, and the cultural factors, which contributed to the development of these "Islamist Calvinists" and their economic organizations in Central Anatolia. The result of this study shows the compatibility of the work ethic of pious entrepreneurs with capitalism in the case of Kayseri. This paper also illustrates the impact of local heritage and Islamic religious values on modern economic activity. 展开更多

Recently more and more people talk about "globalization" with loads of semasiological variety: mainly economic but also cultural. Many perceive it as a significant progress, others as an undisputed threat. However, despite the euphoria that faces this phenomenon, globalization is an evolving process. The fact remains that this is a progressive development of economic, scientific, political, and cultural aspects of all peoples of planet Earth turning it into a big city with many differences, in particular in education and educational activities. This paper will try to illuminate fundamental issues as: (1} understanding the notion of globalization in relation to both pedagogical principles in the field: the integrity and completeness; (2) elements of globalization, as a necessary process and development factor; and (3) "education for all" challenges for the twenty-first century. The aim of the article is to examine the work in Brazilian creative industries in the new era of globalization. The main argument indicates that creative professionals are increasingly encouraged to assume entrepreneurial skills.Although work in creative industries is typically characterized by expressive, intrinsically motivating, and autonomous content,socio-occupational conditions are typically unfavorable. The adverse work conditions of the Brazilian creative class,in the context of globalization, can be identified in precarious contracts, the lack of social guarantees, the management of fear and moral harassment, and the imposition of unattainable production goals on workers. 展开更多
