China＇s Experience in Rural Poverty Reduction.Jobs from Industrialization and Urbanization to Increase Rural Household Income

This paper makes an appraisal of the successful experience of China, a country with the largest agricultural population in the world, in the reduction of rural poverty. We conclude that it is an indispensible strategy to give priority to the development of urban sectors to promote economic growth and reduce rural poverty, and that the development of low value-added agriculture yields few, if any, benefits in decreasing rural poverty. By first adopting urban-biased policies and promoting industrialization, China has created new sources of economic growth and urban employment opportunities to absorb the surplus rural workforce. Entering labor-intensive industrial sectors for higher incomes has thus become a critical avenue for the rural poor to benefit from economic growth and escape poverty.

Experimental study on reactions between alkaline basaltic melt and orthopyroxenes: constraints on the evolution of lithospheric mantle in the North China Craton

The experimental results of the reactions between an alkaline basaltic melt and mantle orthopyroxenes under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions of 1300–1400℃ and 2.0–3.0 GPa using a six-anvil apparatus are reported in this paper.The reactions are proposed to simulate the interactions between melts from the asthenospheric mantle and the lithospheric mantle.The starting melt in the experiments was made from the alkaline basalt occurring in Fuxin,Liaoning Province,and the orthopyroxenes were separated from the mantle xenoliths in Damaping,Hebei Province.The results show that clinopyroxenes were formed in all the reactions between the alkaline basaltic melt and orthopyroxenes under the studied P–T conditions.The formation of clinopyroxene in the reaction zone is mainly controlled by dissolution–crystallization,and the chemical compositions of the reacted melt are primarily infl uenced by the diff usion eff ect.Temperature is the most important parameter controlling the reactions between the melt and orthopyroxenes,which has a direct impact on the melting of orthopyroxenes and the diff usion of chemical components in the melt.Temperature also directly controls the chemical compositions of the newly formed clinopyroxenes in the reaction zone and the reacted melt.The formation of clinopyroxenes from the reactions between the alkaline basaltic melt and orthopyroxenes can result in an increase of CaO and Al_(2)O_(3) contents in the rocks containing this mineral.Therefore,the reactions between the alkaline basaltic melt from the asthenospheric mantle and orthopyroxenes from the lithospheric mantle can lead to the evolution of lithospheric mantle in the North China Craton from refractory to fertile with relatively high CaO and Al 2 O 3 contents.In addition,the reacted melts in some runs were transformed from the starting alkaline basaltic into tholeiitic after reactions,indicating that tholeiitic magma could be generated from alkaline basaltic one via reactions between the latter and orthopyroxene.

Combating maternal mortality in China:experience,challenges and opportunities

Since the People’s Republic of China founded,especially over the last 15 years,maternal mortality rate(MMR)has fallen dramatically.In 2014,China has achieved the target of a reduction of 75%MMR from 1990 to 2015(MDG 5)ahead of schedule.This achievement can be attributed to the improvement of legislation and policy,government commitment and investment on maternal health,extensive international cooperation,implementation of the maternal health program,development of maternal and child health(MCH)service system and development of MCH surveillance systems.Although China has achieved MDG 5,there are many kinds of difficulties and challenges in achieving the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).Therefore,multi-strategy actions need to be considered to seize the opportunities to further reduce the MMR in the future.

Enhancing Quality of Patients Care and Improving Patient Experience in China with Assistance of Artificial Intelligence

Improving health of Chinese people has become national strategy according to the Healthy China 2030.Patient experience evaluation examines health care service from perspective of patients;it is important for improving health care quality.Applying artificial intelligence(AI)in patient experience is an innovative approach to assist continuous improvement of care quality of patient service.A nursing quality platform based on patient experience data which is empowered by AI technologies has been established in China for the purpose of surveillance and analysis of the quality of patient care.It contains data from nearly 1300 healthcare facilities,based on which portraits of nursing service qualities can be drawn.The patient experience big data platform has shown potentials for healthcare facilities to improve patient care quality.More efforts are needed to achieve the goal of enhancing people’s sense of health gain.

China Cultural Center in Rabat Opens Shaolin Martial Arts experience Class

On March 9, nearly 50 people from China and Morocco gathered at China Cultural Center in Rabat to participate in the Shaolin Martial Arts Experience Class held here for the first time, and to get close contact with Chinese Kung Fu. During the experience class, the teacher named Yang Zhen first introduced the classification, development and current status of Chinese martial arts in French,and combined with the video to show the achievements of foreigners learning Chinese Kung Fu, enhancing the enthusiasm and confidence for everyone to learn Kung Fu well.

Analysis and countermeasures on targeted poverty alleviation in southwest China: An empirical experience from Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the patterns and factors of targeted poverty alleviation strategy in Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture,a key area from national contiguous special povertystricken areas in China.Data collection took place in August 2015,July 2016 and June 2018,a literature search was carried out between March 2018 and May 2018,peer-reviewed publications in English were considered but to keep down the length of the paper and reduce redundancy,not all literature sources we collected are listed as references.The results show that progress of targeted poverty alleviation and development work in Nujiang Prefecture is generally smooth and obvious.Completing the"13 th Five-Year Plan"for poverty alleviation and development on schedule is also full of challenges and still needs a lot of effort.This study analyzes current situation and challenges for carrying out targeted poverty alleviation strategy in Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture.These contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness in poverty alleviation work in frontier minority area of China.

Illness Narrative: Perceptions and Lived Experiences of Kidney Recipient Clients in Shanghai, China

Terminal kidney disease is a life threatening condition and cause for loss of hope to affected individuals. It affects the individuals physically as well as mentally. The advancement in medical knowledge and technology in transplant surgery has steadily increased the number of kidney recipients. This offers hope for the new lease of life and a wide range of perceptions and experiences with self, society and the new organ. There is minimal research on perceptions and lived experiences of kidney transplant recipients. This study explored the perceptions and lived experiences of individuals with a kidney problem living with a kidney transplant in Shanghai, China. Five in-depth interviews were conducted with five clients. The participant’s age ranged from 25 to 45 years. There were three females and two males. Content analysis using NVivo (11.0) software was applied in data analysis. The findings revealed improved quality of life among kidney recipients;however the clients had low knowledge levels on the condition as well as self care practices in the post transplant period. This caused a lot of psychosocial stress in the clients. The post kidney transplant management strategies should include effective education programs to increase awareness on the condition and self care practices so as to reduce factors associated with psychosocial stress in order to improve the quality of life for the clients in the post kidney transplantation period.

Experience in China of the Japanese Postwar Writer Takeda Taijun -- Focusing on the Shanghai Period

Takeda Taijun(1912-1976)is a representative of the Japanese postwar writers,who has a special affinity for China.During his whole lifetime,he stayed in China for two long periods,of which the period from June,1944 to February,1946 was spent in Shanghai.He was quite productive and created quite a few works focusing on China,especially Shanghai before and after Japan’s being defeated in the Second World War,which became the background of many works.This paper attempts to interpret Takeda Taijun’s experience in Shanghai of that time on the basis of the masterpiece Firefly in Shanghai in his later years.
