Purpose:This paper studies the relationship between the impact factor(IF)and the number of journal papers in Chinese publishing system.Design/methodology/approach:The method proposed by Huang(2016)is used whereas to a...Purpose:This paper studies the relationship between the impact factor(IF)and the number of journal papers in Chinese publishing system.Design/methodology/approach:The method proposed by Huang(2016)is used whereas to analysis the data of Chinese journals in this study.Findings:Based on the analysis,we find the following.(1)The average impact factor(AIF)of journals in all disciplines maintained a growth trend from 2007 to 2017.Whether before or after removing outlier journals that may garner publication fees,the IF and its growth rate for most social sciences disciplines are larger than those of most natural sciences disciplines,and the number of journal papers on social sciences disciplines decreased while that of natural sciences disciplines increased from 2007 to 2017.(2)The removal of outlier journals has a greater impact on the relationship between the IF and the number of journal papers in some disciplines such as Geosciences because there may be journals that publish many papers to garner publication fees.(3)The success-breeds-success(SBS)principle is applicable in Chinese journals on natural sciences disciplines but not in Chinese journals on social sciences disciplines,and the relationship is the reverse of the SBS principle in Economics and Education&Educational Research.(4)Based on interviews and surveys,the difference in the relationship between the IF and the number of journal papers for Chinese natural sciences disciplines and Chinese social sciences disciplines may be due to the influence of the international publishing system.Chinese natural sciences journals are losing their academic power while Chinese social sciences journals that are less influenced by the international publishing system are in fierce competition.Research limitation:More implications could be found if long-term tracking and comparing the international publishing system with Chinese publishing system are taken.Practical implications:It is suggested that researchers from different countries study natural science and social sciences journals in their languages and observe the influence of the international publishing system.Originality/value:This paper presents an overview of the relationship between IF and the number of journal papers in Chinese publishing system from 2007 to 2017,provides insights into the relationship in different disciplines in Chinese publishing system,and points out the similarities and differences between Chinese publishing system and international publishing system.展开更多

In the past three years, it has provided comprehensive data on the international impact of Chinese academic journals. Using the clout index （CI） to rank the Chinese academic journals, ＂the Highest International Impact Academic Journals of China＂ and ＂ the Excellent International Impact Academic Journals of China＂ are announced every year. By introducing the rating criteria of the ＂Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals＂, the characteristics of high impact journals are discussed. Especially, the status of the pharmaceutical journals is discussed. We found that there are increasing numbers of Chinese journals that are included in the SCI, and some of them are high impact journals. However, journals published in Chinese are still facing difficulties to be included in SCI, even though they show higher impact than journals published in other non-English languages. The Chinese Pharmaceutical journals need to enhance their international impact, but Journals on Chinese Medicine show high impact.展开更多

Using current European and American work as a reference point, this article explores the differences and gaps between foreign and Chinese scholars in this field of research. The author believes that on the question of the boundaries of later Greek philosophy, Chinese scholars have, through long years of exploration, come up with independent opinions and solutions that differ from those of their European and Ameriean counterparts, and that they have a better grasp of the distinctive features of later Greek philosophy. Their work, however, clearly falls short with regard to historical source material. As far as methodology is concerned, there is a clear tendency towards convergence between Chinese scholars and their foreign colleagues.展开更多

In terms of principle,the intrinsic structural elements of the academic system of Chinese administrative law can be divided into three components:the positive law(de lege lata)system,the theoretical system and the sys...In terms of principle,the intrinsic structural elements of the academic system of Chinese administrative law can be divided into three components:the positive law(de lege lata)system,the theoretical system and the system of methodology.As the foundation of the academic system,positive law mainly consists of the normative and institutional systems of administrative law;as the heart of the academic system,the theoretical system contains the theoretical basis,the system of basic principles and the system of categories of administrative law;and the system of methodology is the link and the conversion mechanism between positive law and the theoretical system,including the three research methods of politicolegal jurisprudence,Rechtsdogmatik(legal dogmatics)and social science jurisprudence.Along with institutional practice and the deepening of doctrine over the past thirty years since the promulgation of the Administrative Procedure Law(1989),the academic system of administrative law in China has been maturing.However,we are conscious that problems still exist.The basic approach to achieving further innovation includes advancing the construction of basic administrative law through codification;enhancing academic quality by jurisprudential thinking;shaping Chinese characteristics by rule of law practice;and carrying forward the whole academic system in a complete form.展开更多
