In the enterprise setting, earnings conference call remains a rarely explored field. This thesis offers a descriptive study on assessing interpreting quality from perspectives of fidelity, fluency, and appropriacy. As the corpus, Tencent 2022 Third Quarter Result Announcement provides an ideal transcript to the author to conduct its analysis. Interpreting is frequently done without bearing in mind the multitude of factors that can affect the quality of interpreting. Drawing a conclusion that the interpreter does make a lot of omissions, pauses and hesitations posing a negative effect on the fidelity, fluency and accuracy of the interpreting, the present author suggests that more preparation should be done for improving performance, such as terminologies, company background information, a reasonable speech rate, good image and acoustic quality, and so on.展开更多
This thesis aims at analyzing the Chinglish in press conference interpretation with context adaptation of Belgian linguist Jef Verschueren’s Adaptation Theory as the theoretical framework.In Adaptation Theory,context...This thesis aims at analyzing the Chinglish in press conference interpretation with context adaptation of Belgian linguist Jef Verschueren’s Adaptation Theory as the theoretical framework.In Adaptation Theory,context includes all kinds of factors that concern the environment in which the communication takes place,with non-linguistic factors like the physical world,the social world and the mental world playing an important role.Taking the press conference interpretation of the 2nd Guangdong International Consultative Conference as an example,the author attempts to prove the presumption that Adaptation Theory can be applied to spot and reduce the Chinglish in interpreting.It is concluded that the theory of adaptation to the mental world and social world can be applied to reduce the Chinglish of two particular kinds to the minimum level and achieve successful communication.展开更多

He classifies DMs into three categories: discourse topic markers, discourse activity markers, and message relationship markers. It can be concluded that in conference interpreting, DMs explicit internal structures in three aspects: parallel relation, contractive relation, and elaborative relation based on the analysis of DMs in rendition of Premier Li Keqiang’s press conference from 2014 to 2017.展开更多
In recent years,with the rapid development of the Chinese economy,the“two sessions”in March of every year which sponsored by the ministry of foreign affairs attract more and more journalists from all over the world....In recent years,with the rapid development of the Chinese economy,the“two sessions”in March of every year which sponsored by the ministry of foreign affairs attract more and more journalists from all over the world.The press conference in the“two sessions”likes an important window to show China’s policies and claims to the world.Meanwhile,the premier who answers questions in the press conference,respectively,shows the world the eloquence and polite manners of China’s premier,such as Premier Wen Jiabao and Premier Li Keqiang.Their astute response,excellent,and emotional expression makes a deep impression on audiences.Moreover,as a bridge between the speaker and the listeners,the interpretation once is incorrect will cause some mistakes even conflicts.Therefore,the interpreter plays a most important role in the press conference.How to improve the interpretation level in the press conference is a significant topic.The thesis mainly introduces the content of press conference interpreting from 2012 to 2014.At present,the practical study of press conference interpretation is far from enough.The last part gives the summary of the study and points out the main findings for the further study.展开更多
