She is called the"human bridge"for the communication between China and the world outside. She won the Nobel Prize for her rich and genuine description of Chinese peasant life and masterpiece of biography. Being a woman writer, she expressed her great concern to women's life, which could be seen from her famous works. Owing to the special experience in bilingual culture and the assertion of the equality of any cultures in the world, she was a woman with double cultural view: both of Western and Chinese, which must have decided the formation of her feminist views with the Western and Chinese culture basis. In this thesis, her unique feminist views will be illustrated in detail.展开更多

Economic factor is one of the main elements that people of the early nineteenth century considered when deciding a marriage. The pursuit of economic interest results in the advent of some tragic marriages while now it is a side reason. However, women today have made great advancement in education background, employment situation and social status. Women gradually have their economic ability, autonomy and social status. Hence, they began to lay emphasis on the equality and sense of happiness. This is why the views on marriage vary in different eras. This paper, based on the view of marriage from the nineteenth- century English novel Pride and Pejudice, is dedicated to elucidating the changes and improvements of view on marriage from feminist perspective via comparing and contrasting the similarities and the differences of people's view on marriage between the early 1800 s and modern times, and then draws a conclusion that the women's degree of receptive education can influence their social status and view on marriage. In modern times the view on marriage based on equality attribute to the sense of happiness of a family and the degree of satisfaction of marriage.展开更多

However, there is something noteworthy in ancient Chinese intellectuals' thoughts for that they were also concerned with language phenomena while dealing with philosophy issues. As an outstanding representative of Confucian school, Xunzi had discussed the social essence of language, the relationship between language, world and people, and the development of language, etc. in his Zhengming, which possesses an enlightening significance on nowadays study of linguistics among Chinese scholars. Based on an overview of this classic works, this paper was intended to explore the linguistic view of Xunzi from two perspectives: the relationship between "ming" and "shi" (name and nature), and that between language and human thought. His awareness of language cognition was touched upon as well.展开更多

However, it remains unclear if genetic polymorphisms in these genes are associated with cognitive decline in late-onset Alzheimer's disease patients. We performed a 30-month longitudi- nal cohort study to investigate the relationship between Alzheimer's disease and APOE, APOC1, and LRP. In this study, 78 Chinese Han patients with late-onset Alzheimer's disease were recruit- ed form Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China. APOE, APOC1, and LRP genotyping was performed using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphisms. The Mini-Mental State Examination and Clinical Dementia Rating Scale were used to assess pa- tients' cognitive function. After a 30-month follow-up period, we found a significant reduction in Mini-Mental State Examination total score, a higher proportion of patients fulfilling cognitive impairment progression criteria, and a higher proportion of APOC1 H2 carriers in APOE 4 carriers compared with non-carriers. In addition, the APOE 4 allele frequency was significantly higher in the cognitive impairment progression group compared with the non-cognitive im- pairment progression group. In conclusion, APOE e4 plays an important role in augmenting cognitive decline, and APOC1 H2 may act synergistically with APOE ~4 in increasing the risk of cognitive decline in Chinese patients with late-onset Alzheimer's disease.展开更多
