In order to improve the performance of ceramic composite armor it is essential to know the mechanisms during each phase of the projectile–target interaction and their influence on the penetration resistance.Since the view on the crater zone and the tip of a projectile penetrating a ceramic is rapidly getting obscured by damaged material,a flash X-ray technique has to be applied in order to visualize projectile penetration.For this purpose,usually several flash X-ray tubes are arranged around the target and the radiographs are recorded on film.At EMI a flash X-ray imaging method has been developed,which provides up to eight flash radiographs in one experiment.A multi-anode 450 k V flash X-ray tube is utilized with this method.The radiation transmitted through the target is then detected on a fluorescent screen.The fluorescent screen converts the radiograph into an image in the visible wavelength range,which is photographed by means of a high-speed camera.This technique has been applied to visualize and analyze the penetration of 7.62 mm AP projectiles into three different types of Si C ceramics.Two commercial Si C grades and MICASIC(Metal Infiltrated Carbon derived Si C),a C-Si Si C ceramic developed by DLR,have been studied.The influences,not only of the ceramic but also the backing material,on dwell time and projectile erosion have been studied.Penetration curves have been determined and their relevance to the ballistic resistance is discussed. 展开更多

In film production cinematography is a visual medium that connects the film experience to the viewers.Just like other crew members such as directors and actors,specific names of cinematographers become common in the African film industry.Abebe Ketsela,who has a career spanning many decades and popular designations,is regarded as one of the best intellect cinematographers in Ethiopian cinema.This qualitative content analysis examines his works his cinematography skill emerged from his ability to utilize shot selection,framing,and composition.This qualitative content analysis of Aster film focuses on the Cinematography concept of camera mobility,and lighting techniques to tell the story naturally so.This is the revised transcription of an interview with Abebe Ketsela that took place on September 27th 2021 at the Department of Film Production Studio at Ale-School of Fine Arts and Design,Adds Ababa University,St.marry Avenue,Addis Ababa,Ethiopia,the place where African filmmakers teach film directing,Cinematography,and screenplay writing.The film production Department is the first Film School which is opened in 2015.This place in this site is a vigorous Black African center as film making education school at the level of second Degree and the excremental area of his creative works.The interview spanned three and a half hours and roofed an extensive range of topics,most of which pivoted around:A glimpse on Ethiopian film through a cinematographer of Aster:how his visual creation reveals in his cinematography. 展开更多

Experimental observation of solidification of undercooled single phase alloys

The solidification process of undercooled Cu 70 Ni 30 alloy melt in a cylindrical crucible was investigated by high speed cinematography. In the experiment, nucleation location was controlled at one end of the sample by means of artificial triggering. The results show that the equiaxed dendritic crystals obtained at low undercooling form in sequential solidification, rather than simultaneously in the entire sample, and the morphology of the recalescence front frequently changes with time. If increment of undercooling results in that the dendrite growth is controlled by thermal diffusion, the primary dendrite arms propagate parallel to each other in 〈100〉, and eventually directional solidification microstructure is obtained. At higher undercooling, dendrite growth is destabilized due to solidification contraction, and the microstructure develops into fine quasi spherical grains through recrystallization, however, the massive nucleation is not found.[ 展开更多

But thepower of automation is inhibited by the technicality in manning advanced equipment. To this end, tools deliberately combating this inhibition and advancing technological growth are the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). UAVs are rapidlytaking over major industries such as logistics, security, and cinematography.Among others, this is a very efficient way of carrying out missions unconventional to humans. An application area of this technology is the local film industrywhich is not producing quality movies primarily due to the lack of technicalknow-how in utilizing these systems. This study therefore aim to devise an autonomous object tracking UAV system that would eliminate the complex procedureinvolved in stabilizing an aerial camera (aerial bot) midair and promote the creation of quality aerial video shooting. The study adopted Unified Modeling Language (UML) tools in modeling the system’s functionality. The traditionalServer-Client model architecture was adopted. The OpenCV library employedproved highly efficient in aiding the tracking procedure. The system provided ausable web controller which provides easy interaction between the pilot and thedrone. Conclusively, investments in UAVs would enhance creation of quality graphic contents. 展开更多

In that extend, words are the genesis of cinema. Poetry is a unique way to express one's point of view in a metaphoric way, far from common means of communicating a message. This purpose is the one of many a film director with daring, controversial, or highly personal ideas.
