Spatio-temporal Fragmentation of Leisure Activities in Information Era： Empirical Evidence from Nanjing, China

Activity fragmentation provides a new approach for understanding the transformation of urban space and function in the information era. Numerous theoretical and empirical studies have been conducted on activity fragmentation, but few studies have focused on the fragmentation of leisure activities. This study was intended to extend the extant literature by: 1) analysing the spatio-temporal fragmentation of physical and virtual leisure activities by using a dataset collected in Nanjing, China, and 2) evaluating the reasons of leisure activity fragmentation, as well as the potential spatial effect of activity fragmentation. The results indicated that virtual leisure activities are more fragmented than physical leisure activities, but the fragmentation of physical and virtual leisure activities varies on weekday and weekend, as well as in various locations and urban districts. In addition, the results suggested that sociodemographic factors and information and communication technology(ICT) variables distinctly affect the fragmentation of leisure activities. Meanwhile, the fragmentation of virtual leisure activities may enhance the transformation of traditional urban space by reallocating leisure activity times and locations.

The Application of Communicative Language Teaching on Developing Oral Communication Ability

It is concluded that Communicative Language Teaching(CLT) is a more practical approach to develop communication ability. In the process of applying this approach on oral communication ability, techniques based on CLT are explored and classified as structured output activities and communicative output activities.

The Urgency of Interest-developed Communicative Activities

The article holds that there is an urgent need to implement interest-activated communicative activities in English classes in accordance with the present situation of Shanxi. These activities, as illustrated in the examples, are a means to activate the students＇ interest in English. Moreover, the significance of such activities is mentioned.

Reading English newspapers and magazines is an effective way to help the students get the latest information worldwide and improve English levels. The present article first analyzes the features of the English newspapers and magazines and then proposes making good use of them through such classroom activities as discussing the hot issue and role-playing to provide more authentic situations in which the students can have chances to practice four English skills, achieving the ideal teaching result.

The Application of Communicative Approach in Business English Teaching

Language is a means of communication. Although it is not the only form of communication, it is certainly the most important. The ultimate goal of BE （Business English） is to cultivate the students＇ communicative competence in business environment. The characteristics of CA （communicative approach） correspond to the objectives of BET （Business English Teaching） and it is an effective choice to apply it in te aching. This thesis tries to analyze the reasons for the application of CA in BET and to explore how to practice this method in teaching in order to make the English class more communicative and improve the students＇ ability of listening and speaking.

Collaborative Tools and Techniques of Knowledge Sharing: A Literature Review

Nowadays, the world is frequently referred to as the “information world”. Companies rely on knowledge to differentiate themselves and get a competitive advantage. As a result, businesses pay close attention to knowledge management and devote a significant amount of time and resources to ensuring that knowledge is appropriately owned and exploited. Individual knowledge transfer is also a factor. The paper examines knowledge transfer and sharing, with the goal of determining the most effective internal communication tool for information transfer. The research findings should aid company management in organizing internal communication in a way that allows them to carry out their knowledge management plan.

Vocabulary Teaching Strategies Focusing on Language Learner

As we enter the 21st century, acquisition of vocabulary has assumed a more important role, and as some would argue, it has assumed the central role in learning a second language. On one hand, students have a strong desire to improve their English level in order to make them more adaptable when they step into this competitive society after graduation. On the other hand, most students are facing a great difficulty in learning a large number of vocabularies though they do spend a lot of time and energy on it. Also, recent researches show that students don＇t like the classroom that is still teacher-centered and lecture-based. They want to be more involved in class and more responsible for their own studies. Hence, it is important to equip students with necessary strategies for dealing with vocabulary learning activities. In this paper, three strategies are recommended： extensive listening ＆ reading and contextual guesswork, communicative activities and group-work and the use of dictionary.

THEORIES AND EFFECTIVE TEACHING OF COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES

The purpose of this paper is to claim the effectiveness of applying CS (Communication Strategy) theories to the English oral communication classes. Communication strategies will help EFL (English as Foreign Language) students to communicate with insufficient grammatical competence. In this paper, we consider the underlying theories on communicative competence first. Then we discuss the communication strategies as components of communicative competence. And finally we talk about how we can apply CS theories to the actual EFL classes in China.

An Active De-anonymizing Attack Against Tor Web Traffic

Tor is pervasively used to conceal target websites that users are visiting. A de-anonymization technique against Tor, referred to as website fingerprinting attack, aims to infer the websites accessed by Tor clients by passively analyzing the patterns of encrypted traffic at the Tor client side. However, HTTP pipeline and Tor circuit multiplexing techniques can affect the accuracy of the attack by mixing the traffic that carries web objects in a single TCP connection. In this paper, we propose a novel active website fingerprinting attack by identifying and delaying the HTTP requests at the first hop Tor node. Then, we can separate the traffic that carries distinct web objects to derive a more distinguishable traffic pattern. To fulfill this goal, two algorithms based on statistical analysis and objective function optimization are proposed to construct a general packet delay scheme. We evaluate our active attack against Tor in empirical experiments and obtain the highest accuracy of 98.64%, compared with 85.95% of passive attack. We also perform experiments in the open-world scenario. When the parameter k of k-NN classifier is set to 5, then we can obtain a true positive rate of 90.96% with a false positive rate of 3.9%.
