This paper proposes an emotion judgment system by using an electroencephalogram(EEG)feature concept base with premise of noises included.This method references the word concept association system,which associates one ...This paper proposes an emotion judgment system by using an electroencephalogram(EEG)feature concept base with premise of noises included.This method references the word concept association system,which associates one word with other plural words and decides the relationship between several words.In this proposed emotion judgment system,the source EEG is input and 42 EEG features are constructed by EEG data;the data are then calculated by spectrum analysis and normalization.All 2945 EEG data of 4 emotions in the EEG data emotion knowledge base are calculated by the degree of association for getting the nearest EEG data from the EEG feature concept base constructed by 2844 concepts.From the experiment,the accuracy of the proposed system was 55.9%,which was higher than the support vector machine(SVM)method.As this result,the chain structured feature of the EEG feature concept base and the efficiency by the calculation of degree of association for EEG data help reduce the influence of the noise.展开更多

In a previous study, we proposed method queries that were t...The present paper describes the use of online free language resources for translating and expanding queries in CLIR (cross-language information retrieval). In a previous study, we proposed method queries that were translated by two machine translation systems on the Language Gridem. The queries were then expanded using an online dictionary to translate compound words or word phrases. A concept base was used to compare back translation words with the original query in order to delete mistranslated words. In order to evaluate the proposed method, we constructed a CLIR system and used the science documents of the NTCIR1 dataset. The proposed method achieved high precision. However~ proper nouns (names of people and places) appear infrequently in science documents. In information retrieval, proper nouns present unique problems. Since proper nouns are usually unknown words, they are difficult to find in monolingual dictionaries, not to mention bilingual dictionaries. Furthermore, the initial query of the user is not always the best description of the desired information. In order to solve this problem, and to create a better query representation, query expansion is often proposed as a solution. Wikipedia was used to translate compound words or word phrases. It was also used to expand queries together with a concept base. The NTCIRI and NTCIR 6 datasets were used to evaluate the proposed method. In the proposed method, the CLIR system was implemented with a high rate of precision. The proposed syst had a higher ranking than the NTCIRI and NTCIR6 participation systems.展开更多

This approach has several major drawbacks, such as only a single structural per...Conventional seismic evaluation of existing bridges explores the ability of a bridge to survive under significant earthquake excitations. This approach has several major drawbacks, such as only a single structural performance of near collapse is considered, and the simplified approach of adopting strength-based concept to indirectly estimate the nonlinear behavior of a structure lacks accuracy. As a result, performance-based concepts that include a wider variety of structural performance states of a given bridge excited by different levels of earthquake intensity is needed by the engineering community. This paper introduces an improved process for the seismic evaluation of existing bridges. The relationship between the overall structural performance and earthquakes with varying levels of peak ground acceleration (PGA) can successfully be linked. A universal perspective on the seismic evaluation of bridges over their entire life-cycle can be easily obtained to investigate multiple performance objectives. The accuracy of the proposed method, based on pushover analysis, is proven in a case study that compares the results from the proposed procedure with additional nonlinear time history analyses.展开更多

The spatial trusses are taken as an example for the solution of the analytical expressions of the explicit displacements which are proved mathematically; then some conclusions are reached that are useful to structural sensitivity analysis and optimization. In the third part of the paper, a generalized geometric programming method is sugguested for the optimal model with the explicit displacement. Video retrieval is a vital process in multimedia applications such as video search engines, digital museums, and video-on-demand broadcasting. In this paper, the different approaches of video retrieval are outlined and briefly categorized.
