Purpose: This study aims to explore factors affecting continuance intention of mobile reading. Design/methodology/approach: Drawing on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), and integrating perceived enjoyment, we put forward a theoretical research model of factors affecting continuance intention of mobile reading. Using 186 valid data collected through a questionnaire survey, we conducted data analysis with the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Findings: The results show that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence and perceived enjoyment all have positive impacts on continuance intention. Among them, perceived enjoyment has the most significant effect on continuance intention, followed by performance expectancy. In addition, effort expectancy significantly influences perceived enjoyment. Contrary to our expectation, facilitating conditions have no impact on continuance intention. Practical implications: This study could help mobile data service providers to foster users' continuous usage of mobile reading. Research limitations: This study focused only on the effect of perceived enjoyment as an internal motivation on continuance intention of mobile reading, and other possible factors were not considered. Also, continuance intention may be different from the actual behavior. Furthermore, data of student users was collected from one university in China, and was cross-sectional, while working samples were not considered. Originality value: This study considers the effects of both external and internal motivation on continuance intention of mobile reading. The results highlight the role of perceived enjoyment in building users' continuance intention of mobile reading. 展开更多

Purpose: This paper aims at an understanding of factors that influence the continuance intention to use mobile interest-based community applications, with a focus on the impacts of technology acceptance model (TAM) constructs and experiential value. Design/methodology/approach: Taking a hybrid model combining TAM and extended expectation confirmation model (ECM) as foundation, this study integrated experiential value into the research model. A survey method was adopted and the sample was constituted by 347 Chinese undergraduates who were experienced users of mobile interest-based community applications. Structural equation modeling was used to test the research model. Findings: Our findings suggest that 1) key determinants of user satisfaction with mobile interest-based community applications are confirmation, perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEU) and experiential value. Both satisfaction and PU are directly correlated with continuance intention; 2) PU's impact on satisfaction and continuance intention has been confirmed again in this study. Although PEU has no direct impact on satisfaction and continuance intention, it may indirectly affect them via PU; 3) all the perceived experiential values (aesthetics, playfulness, service excellence and return on investment) have a positive influence on satisfaction. Research limitations: We did not examine the effects of individual user differences that may also be important for understanding satisfaction and continuance intention. Practical implications: The study findings can help service providers improve the use of mobile interest-based community applications. With the development of intelligent terminals and mobile applications,the influence of continuous improvement on mobile content services to the continuance use intention is more and more significant.Based on the expectation-confirmation theory and information system continuance use theory,this paper proposes a mobile content continuance use model and puts forward related assumptions under the mobile commerce environment by introducing the continuous improvement variables.Questionnaire data are collected from 219 mobile content service users for research,and the hypothetical model is validated by the structural equation modeling.Results show that the information system continuance use model is still valid under the mobile commerce environment,and the continuous improvement on mobile content services have positive impacts on user's expectations after they have experienced certain mobile content services. 展开更多

Purpose:A social question & answer(SQA) community's long-term sustainability depends on its members' willingness to stay and contribute their knowledge continuously in the community.This research aims to investigate the critical factors which influence users' intention to continue contributing knowledge in the SQA community.Design/methodology/approach:Grounded on information systems(IS) continuance theory,this study put forward a model of the factors that influence SQA community members' intention to continue contributing knowledge.Survey was conducted to gather data from knowledge contributors of four major Chinese SQA communities(Baidu Knows,Sina iAsk,Soso Ask and Yahoo! Knowledge).By using the partial least squares(PLS) technique,research hypotheses derived from the proposed model were empirically validated.Findings:Except enjoyment in helping others and knowledge self-efficacy,all other factors including extrinsic reward,reputation enhancement,realization of self-worth,perceived usefulness,attitude towards knowledge contribution,and satisfaction exert significant impacts on users' continuance intentions in an SQA community.Research limitations:First,important factors such as the ease of use of information systems which may influence users' continuance intentions were not investigated in the study.Second,the study sample needs to be enlarged,and users of smaller SQA communities should also be included,to make the results more representative.Practical implications:This study will help SQA community designers and managers develop or improve incentive mechanisms to attract more people to contribute their knowledge and promote the development of the SQA community.Originality/value:This study improves the previous research models and puts forward a model of user continuance intention to contribute knowledge in an SQA community.It will extend the understanding of SQA community users' intention to continue contributing knowledge by distinguishing these users' different roles and focusing only on knowledge contributors. 展开更多

Promoting the online flow of high-quality teacher resources has emerged as an important way to pursue coordinated progress in burden reduction and quality improvement under the"double reduction"policy.Based on the Open Online Tutoring Program of Secondary School Teachers(hereinafter referred to as"the open tutoring program")in City A,China,this study examined the factors influencing teachers'continuance intention to participate in the open tutoring program and their structural relationships,using a structural equation modeling analysis based on 1,159 sample data.The results show that:Firstly,teachers'reputation enhancement,perceived playfulness,perceived usefulness,and perceived ease of use have a positive effect on teachers'continuance intention to participate in online after-school teaching services.Secondly,online teaching efficacy has no direct effect on teachers'continuance intention,but rather impacts their reputation enhancement and beliefs about the value of the open tutoring program.Thirdly,social influence has a positive effect on teachers'reputation.Fourthly,perceived ease of use has a positive effect on teachers'perception of the value of the open tutoring program.In light of the above,relevant suggestions are proposed to encourage teachers to continue participating in online after-school teaching services. 展开更多

Branded applications(apps)have become core touchpoints for improving consumer shopping experiences in omni-channel retailing,and many firms have developed different types of branded apps to provide additional value.Moreover,continuous usage intention is the key to improving enterprises’gain efficiency and consumers’brand loyalty.This study aims to reveal how branded apps achieve continuance intention from the perspective of consumer perceptions by combining the technology acceptance model and investigating the impact of differences in channel features on usage behavior between the two types of branded apps.An experiment was designed comparing transaction-and experience-oriented branded apps.A structural equation modeling technique was employed to validate the model based on the survey data of respondents from the experimental groups.The results show that the supportive role of omni-channel has a unique experience mechanism that promotes continuous usage intention.However,there are two discrepant results regarding the effect of perceived complementarity on perceived usefulness in transaction-and experience-oriented branded apps.The mediating role of perceived usefulness between perceived consistency,complementarity,ease of use and consumer satisfaction was supported in the experience-oriented apps but rejected in the transaction-oriented apps. 展开更多
