Study of Neutron Cross Talk Rejection Based on Testing Experiment and Simulation

Experimental data analysis and simulation calculations were performed in order to evaluate the cross-talk rejection performance of a typical neutron detection array. For very closely packed scintillation bars, the CT rejection may rely on the position relation between the two signals. The criteria |△x|≤ 15 cm and |△y|≤12 cm are currently proposed for a rejection rate higher than 90%. For signals coming from distanced bars, the energy conservation relationship can be applied to reject the CT events with a similar performance. In both cases the results of simulation agree very well with the experimental data, assuring their applicability to other detection systems and physics problems. 展开更多

The silicon-based arrayed waveguide grating(AWG)is widely used due to its compact footprint and its compatibility with the mature CMOS process.However,except for AWGs with ridged waveguides of a few micrometers of cross section,any small process error will cause a large phase deviation in other AWGs,resulting in an increasing cross talk.In this paper,an ultralow cross talk AWG via a tunable microring resonator(MRR)filter is demonstrated on the SOI platform.The measured insertion loss and minimum adjacent cross talk of the designed AWG are approximately 3.2 and-45.1 d B,respectively.Compared with conventional AWG,its cross talk is greatly reduced. 展开更多

Role of Liver Progenitor Cell in Liver Regeneration Cellular Cross-Talks and Signals

The liver is well known for its ability to regenerate in response to injury. After partial hepatectomy and some chemicals induced acute liver injury, existing hepatocytes can expand to repair the liver function. While adult liver stem/progenitor cells(LPCs) are evoked and differentiate into functional hepatocytes and cholangiocytes to compensate the damaged liver once hepatocyte proliferation is severely impaired. A number of evidences suggest that adjacent hepatic stellate cells(HSCs) or invading leukocytes may be involved in LPCs directed regeneration through governning two major events including fibrogenic and inflammatory responses respectively or simultaneously. As such, a microenvironment(or "niche") composed of different cell sources or factors presents diversity, which eventually mediates LPCs response to biliary or hepatocellular regeneration. This mini review aims at summarizing the latest development on the roles of HSCs, macrophages and lymphocytes as well as corresponding signaling pathways in liver progenitor cells mediated biliary and hepatocellular regeneration, and discussing therapeutic potential of liver progenitor cells in hepatic diseases. 展开更多

Cross talk between phytohormones, nitric oxide (NO), and auxin has been implicated in the control of plant growth and development. Two recent reports indicate that NO promoted auxin signaling but inhibited auxin transport probably through S-nitrosylation. However, genetic evidence for the effect of S-nitrosylation on auxin physiology has been lacking. In this study, we used a genetic approach to understand the broader role of S-nitrosylation in auxin physiology in Arabidopsis. We compared auxin signaling and transport in Col-0 and gsnorl-3, a loss-of-function GSNOR1 mutant defective in protein de-nitrosylation. Our results showed that auxin signaling was impaired in the gsnorl-3 mutant as revealed by significantly reduced DR5-GUS/ DR5-GFP accumulation and compromised degradation of AXR3NT-GUS, a useful reporter in interrogating auxin-mediated degradation of Aux/IAA by auxin receptors. In addition, polar auxin transport was compro- mised in gsnorl-3, which was correlated with universally reduced levels of PIN or GFP-PIN proteins in the roots of the mutant in a manner independent of transcription and 26S proteasome degradation. Our results suggest that S-nitrosylation and GSNORl-mediated de-nitrosylation contribute to auxin physiology, and impaired auxin signaling and compromised auxin transport are responsible for the auxin-related morpho- logical phenotypes displayed by the gsnorl-3 mutant. 展开更多

InGaN nanowires (NWs) are grown on pyramid textured Si substrates by stationary plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (PA-MBE). The incidence angles of the highly directional source beams vary for different pyramid facets, inducing a distinct inter-facet modulation of the In content of the InGaN NWs, which is verified by spatial element distribution analysis. The resulting multi-wavelength emission is confirmed by photoluminescence (PL) and cathodoluminescence (CL). Pure GaN phase formation dominates on certain facets, which is attributed to extreme local growth conditions, such as low active N flux. On the same facets, InGaN NWs exhibit a morphology change close to the pyramid ridge, indicating inter-facet atom migration. This cross-talk effect due to inter-facet atom migration is verified by a decrease of the inter-facet In content modulation amplitude with shrinking pyramid size. A detailed analysis of the In content variation across individual pyramid facets and element distribution line profiles reveals that the cross-talk effect originates mainly from the inter-facet atom migration over the convex pyramid ridge facet boundaries rather than the concave base line facet boundaries. This is understood by first-principles calculations showing that the pyramid baseline facet boundary acts as an energy barrier for atom migration, which is much higher than that of the ridge facet boundary. The influence of the growth temperature on the inter-facet In content modulation is also presented. This work gives deep insight into the composition modulation for the realization of multi-color light-emitting devices based on the monolithic growth of InGaN NWs on pyramid textured Si substrates. 展开更多

Decidual immune cells(DICs),including T-cells,regulatory T-cells,macrophages/dendritic cells,natural killer cells,and neutrophils,are resident at the maternal-fetal interface,and play vital roles in regulating trophoblast migration,decidual angiogenesis,immune tolerance,placentation,and decidualization during the early pregnancy.Extensive researches have revealed that these maternal DICs cooperated with each other,or with maternal decidual stromal cells,or with fetal-derived trophoblasts,and further formed a special maternal-fetal cross talk at the maternal-fetal interface,which was essential for the construction and maintenance of physiological pregnancy.Once aberrant cross talk and immune regulation arise,many pregnancy complications will inevitably occur,such as spontaneous abortion,intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR),preeclampsia(PE),and preterm birth.Here,we reviewed how critical immune cells are either enriched or excluded from the decidua,how their function is regulated within the decidua,and how they variously contribute to pregnancy success or failure. 展开更多
