Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949,significant achievements have been made in cotton production in China.China has maintained its position as the world’s largest cotton producer for 33 years(1983–2015),with average annual increases of 3.5 and 3.9% in the unit yield and total output of cotton,respectively.Cotton production has played an extremely important role in the development of the national economy and the improvement of living standards.Although the cotton planting area has been reduced in recent years,the total output has remained relatively unchanged due to the continuous increase in the unit yield.China’s dominant position in global cotton production is undoubtedly attributed to the progress and development of cotton cultivation technology.Over the past 70 years,China has established a high-yielding and high-efficiency cotton cultivation mode that corresponds to its national conditions,including a large population and a limited land area.Furthermore,cotton cultivation technology is constantly being innovated and developed to keep pace with the times.In this paper,we review the development of cotton production and cultivation in China over the past 70 years,with a particular focus on the innovation and development of cotton cultivation technology with Chinese characteristics.This review is intended to provide guidance for the sustainable development of China’s cotton production in the future and to provide a reference for global cotton production. 展开更多

In recent years,with the global climate change,the frequency and duration of high temperature in summer and autumn have increased,causing high temperature heat damage to summer crops such as rice and maize.From the end of July to early August is the main period of high temperature occurrence,during which the daily average temperature above 30℃is a high probability event,and even the highest temperature is above 38℃,while this period coincides with the booting-blooming-filling stage of the single-season middle rice in Jianghuai,especially the middle-season indica rice,so it often leads to the degradation of rice spikelets,pollen abortion,difficulty in pollen dispersion,and even difficulty in heading,resulting in a serious decline in the seed setting rate and poor filling of grains,which finally affect the yield and quality.Based on the goal of high-yielding high-quality rice cultivation,this paper proposed targeted technical measures for single-season middle rice from the aspects of planting time sequence optimization,selection of high-temperature-resistant varieties,population construction,fertilizer and water management technology,and how to compensate for the occurrence of unexpected disasters to promote plant growth.This study provides technical support for high-yielding high-quality stress-resistant and disaster-reducing rice cultivation technology. 展开更多

Strawberry(Fragaria×ananassa Duch)is a very popular fruit,which is very common for productive cultivation,but not for ornamental cultivation.In order to improve the ornamental quality of strawberry and study its ornamental cultivation techniques,the variety selection,cultivation methods,flower pot selection,soil,fertilizer and water management,temperature,humidity and light management,and flower,fruit and pollination management of strawberry were investigated,especially its precision fertilization.The optimum combination fertilization scheme was A_(3)B_(2)C_(1),namely‘Lvbao’6 g,‘Weibao’6 g,‘Double carbon’2 g,which was obtained by an orthogonal test with three factors and three levels.This combined fertilization method overcomes the deficiency of single fertilization and improves the fertilization effect,and provides a reference for ornamental cultivation of strawberry. 展开更多

[Methods] The characteristics,yields,quality,application range and use of Xindong No. 48 were introduced and the cultivation technology was concluded. [Results] Xindong No. 48 is bred with F1 of Xindong No. 22/M844 as female parent and Shidong No. 8 as male parent. It is a winter variety,which matures later. It has a plant height of about 76. 46 cm,a thousand-seed weight at 50. 63 g and a volume weight of kernel at 800. 67 g/L. The optimum planting period for the northern Xinjiang wheat area is from September 15 to September 25. The basic seedlings should be controlled at 5. 25-6. 00 million per hectare. [Conclusions] Xindong No. 48 is a winter wheat of high yield and resistant to leaf rust and powdery mildew. The variety was approved by Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Varieties Review Committee in 2015 and numbered as new-approved wheat No. 2015 year 04. It proves that the variety can be planted in Xinjiang winter wheat growing areas of northern Xinjiang. 展开更多
