The study of metaphor of"xin"or heart could be traced back to the beginning of 21 stcentury,and a terrific text for the study isthe famous works called Caigentan,whose distinguished English version is translated by Paul Whiter.In this paper the metaphors of"xin"in both Chinese and English version from the categorization process are to be analyzed especially their vehicle category and themapping process and thus some similarities and differences could be spotted,and finally the Chinese and western cultural context be-hind them could be deduced and analyzed.

A Survey of English Majors'Chinese Culture Learning and Teaching Strategies in the Context of Culture Going Out

Starting with cultural context of historic block, this paper investigated current situation of Shengjinta Historic Block in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, proposed dynamic protection planning and sustainable industrial upgrading strategies, specifically, by repairing, clearing, preserving and restoring historic streets and lanes, courtyards and folk dwel ings from six perspectives of planar layout, traffic pattern, spatial texture, facade decoration, landscape planning, and characteristic culture. A Deconstructive Analysis of Four Chinese Versions of The Old Man and the Sea

Translation does not take place in a vacuum and translation activities are affected and manipulated by the historical and social contexts,and neither the translator nor the translation is ever neutral.For deconstructionists,translations can never be identi⁃cal replicas of the source text,and translation augments and modifies the original.This paper aims to make a deconstructive analy⁃sis of the four Chinese versions of The Old Man and the Sea so as to probe into the rationality and necessity of the multi-versions of one same literary work.

Sexual Abuse and Mental Disorders:The Dark Side of Violence

Rape and sexual violence occur in all social classes and societies.In most cases,the sexual offenders are known to the victim and the majority of rapes happen in intimate relationships.Children are particularly vulnerable to sexual abuse,in particular,the female sex.The sexual abuse of minors is defined as“any sexual activities that an adult carries on or with a person under the age of consent.”Literature evidence that the prevalence of any type of violence among women with disabilities varies between 26.0%and 90.0%,compared to nondisabled women,showing that people with disabilities have an increased risk of suffering physical and sexual violence.Children with intellectual disabilities(ID)show a high risk of sexual victimization.The World Health Organization presently defines mental retardation as“a significantly reduced ability to understand new or complex information and to learn and apply new skills(impaired intelligence).This results in a reduced ability to cope independently(impaired social functioning),and begins before adulthood,with a lasting effect on development.”The aim of this study is to investigate the correct identification of sexual abuse and severe mental retardation through the collaboration of a team of experts(forensic pathologist,psychiatrist,psychologist,gynecologist,pediatrician,and social worker).We present a case of a 12-year-old female child,who suffers from severe mental retardation and was the victim of rape by a 79-year-old man.The study shows the difficulties in discovering episodes of sexual abuse among children affected by ID by evidencing the importance of adequate analysis through a multidisciplinary approach.The work focuses on the need to improve knowledge about medical and forensic investigations through proper protocols,for early recognition and appropriate management of these complicated cases.

The layers of history: New architecture interventions in castle ruins

This paper aims to analyse new architectural works that were created within the ruins of castles and fortifications.The contribution addresses the question whether it is possible to indicate common features in these types of objects,by studying what changed and how it changed in the complexes of historic ruins by introducing a new layer:a new form in their space.The analysis covers eight complexes of castle ruins located in Europe,all being important elements of local historical heritage,all preserved in their historical forms as permanent ruins.Such places are characterised by high imageability,which is conducive to maintaining interest,despite political or ideological changes.The need to introduce new functions,which is connected with this interest,raises questions related to preserving the identity and authenticity of the place,while at the same time building relationships with modern architecture.The research concerned examples from Europe,mostly post-competition works.Research and analysis have shown that all the objects are characterised by well thought-out urban solutions and carefully selected locations of new buildings within the existing historic ruins,thereby helping maintain the structural order between the existing and the new spatial forms.Interventions within the castle ruins were carried out using modern architectural language,using modern techniques and solutions,with great attention to detail.They are characterised by the abstraction of new forms and the creative reinterpretation of existing architectural elements and material solutions of the monuments.The consciously applied contrast of forms and materials means that the historical heritage is being rediscovered,enriched with new,currently necessary functions.In all the described works,the introduction of new spatial experiences within existing objects constituted a significant value.The examples analysed show that the experience and analysis of the broadly understood historical,urban and architectural context are conducive to the creation of valuable architectural works.The characteristics of these examples may contribute to a broader debate on the dialogue between historical heritage and contemporary architecture.
