Influence of cultural factors on choice of childbirth place among women in Oyigbo Local Government Area,Rivers State,Nigeria

Objectives:This study aims to ascertain if cultural factors influence the childbirth place choice of women in Oyigbo.Materials and Methods:The study used a cross‑sectional study design using a self‑structured questionnaire as the instrument to collect data from 384 volunteers through simple random sampling,and these data were analyzed using frequency and percentage for descriptive statistics while Chi‑square was used for inferential statistics at 0.05 level of significance.Results:The influence of cultural factors such as family traditions(χ^(2)=12.56,P=0.006),beliefs(χ^(2)=70.66,P=0.000),lack of confidence in health facilities(χ^(2)=367.83,P=0.000),and the presence of male skilled birth attendants(χ^(2)=50.85,P=0.000)were statistically significant to the choice of childbirth place,while patriarchal system(χ^(2)=2.99,P=0.393)was not statistically significant to the choices of childbirth places of women in Oyigbo.Religion had a statistically significant influence on childbirth place(χ^(2)=125.46,P=0.000).Conclusion:This study shows that religious and cultural factors have a significant influence on the childbirth place choices of women in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Analysis the Reflection of Cultural Factors in Foreign Affairs Translation Activities

The Interrelationship between Culture and Capital Structure:Evidence from International Retailers

The present study investigates the influence of cultural factors in 2022 on the capital structure of global retailers.There are sixteen retailers from eight countries in the sample.In recent times,numerous academicians have taken an interest in examining the capital structure and business model of retailers,owing to their swift and consistent growth.However,the fact that the majority of research originates from the retailers’host country gives rise to debate regarding the applicability of the capital structure of said retailers to countries with distinct cultural environments.Consequently,academics have begun to investigate whether the capital structure of multinational retailers is impacted by the diversity of national cultures.

Examining the properties and therapeutic potential of glial restricted precursors in spinal cord injury

In the aftermath of spinal cord injury,glial restricted precursors（GRPs） and immature astrocytes offer the potential to modulate the inflammatory environment of the injured spinal cord and promote host axon regeneration.Nevertheless clinical application of cellular therapy for the repair of spinal cord injury requires strict quality-assured protocols for large-scale production and preservation that necessitates long-term in vitro expansion.Importantly,such processes have the potential to alter the phenotypic and functional properties and thus therapeutic potential of these cells.Furthermore,clinical use of cellular therapies may be limited by the inflammatory microenvironment of the injured spinal cord,altering the phenotypic and functional properties of grafted cells.This report simulates the process of large-scale GRP production and demonstrates the permissive properties of GRP following long-term in vitro culture.Furthermore,we defined the phenotypic and functional properties of GRP in the presence of inflammatory factors,and call attention to the importance of the microenvironment of grafted cells,underscoring the importance of modulating the environment of the injured spinal cord.

Spatial-temporal patterns of China＇s interprovincial migration, 1985-2010

Migration plays an increasing role in China＇s economy since mobility rose and economic restructuring has proceeded during the last three decades. Given the background of most studies focusing on migration in a particular period, there is a critical need to analyze the spatial-temporal patterns of migration. Using bicomponent trend mapping technique and interprovincial migration data during the periods 1985-1990, 1990-1995, 1995-2000, 2000- 2005, and 2005-2010 we analyze net-, in-, out-migration intensity, and their changes over time in this study. Strong spatial variations in migration intensity were found in China＇s interprovincial migration, and substantial increase in migration intensity was also detected in eastern China during 1985-2010. Eight key destinations are mostly located within the three rapidly growing economic zones of eastern China （Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Metropolitan Region）, and they are classified into three types： mature, emerging, and fluctuant origins, while most key origins are relatively undeveloped central and western provinces, which are exactly in accordance with China＇s economic development patterns. The results of bicomponent trend mapping indicate that, in a sense, the migration in the south was more active than the north over the last three decades. The result shows the new changing features of spatial-temporal patterns of China＇s interprovincial migration that Fan and Chen did not find out in their research. A series of social-economic changes including rural transformation, balanced regional development, and labor market changes should be paid more attention to explore China＇s future interprovincial migration.

Expression of fibronectin receptor, integrin α_5β_1 of hepatic stellate cells in rat liver fibrosis

Objective To investigate the role of fibronectin(FN) receptor α 5β 1 in liver fibrosis Methods Northern blot analysis and immuno^histochemical techniques were used to observe changes in the expression of FN and FN receptor α 5β 1 on hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) in vivo and in vitro of rat liver fibrosis induced by CCl 4 Results (1) α 5β 1 was mainly detected in the endothelia and some of the desmin(DM) positive cells of the sinusoids in normal rat liver The expression of α 5β 1 of DM positive cells detected by immunohistochemistry reached its peak at the 10th week of the experiment The changes in FN expression were similar to that of α 5β 1 (2) The expression of FN, α 5 and β 1 mRNAs in the experimental group was remarkably increased especially at the 6th week, compared to that of normal liver specimens The expression of the three mRNAs of HSCs in vitro isolated from the experimental group (6 weeks) was higher than those from normal liver (3) The expression of FN, α 5 and β 1 mRNAs increased in normal rat HSCs after treatment with transforming growth factor β 1 (TGF β 1) for 2 hours After 4 hours of treatment, the expression of the three mRNAs fell to levels similar to the control group Immunocytochemistry revealed that the expression of α 5β 1 of HSCs reached its peak after 4 hours of treatment with TGF β 1 and dropped to normal 2 hours later Conclusion These data suggest that HSCs normally express FN receptor α 5β 1 The activation of HSCs during liver fibrogenesis leads to an increase of FN, α 5 and β 1 mRNA expression The expression of FN and α 5β 1 of HSCs in vitro is up regulated by TFG α 5β 1 The detection of gene transcription of FN and its receptor by Northern blot analysis suggests the activation and proliferation of HSCs and thereby provides a sensitive signal of liver fibrosis
