Social media is commonly used by governments to disseminate information related to transparency and institutional promotion, but its potential for the dissemination of cultural resources is often overlooked. This research proposes a strategy for adopting social media to achieve cultural dissemination in the municipality of Lamas,Peru, which has tourism potential and has been awarded the“Best Tourism Villages”seal of the World Tourism Organisation.Methodologically,we propose a case study at a propositional exploratory level. We start by determining the current state of dissemination of tangible and intangible resources,as well as the practical use of social media, through a survey of 20 officials. The results reveal that crafts are the most widely disseminated tangible resource in the municipality(according to 55%of officials),and intangible resources are occasionally disseminated(50%).We also find that Facebook is the only digital channel used to disseminate cultural information. In this context,we formulate a strategy for adopting social media to improve cultural dissemination, which consists of six phases:(i)forming a work team,(ii)preparing a budget plan,(iii)strengthening capacities,(iv)taking inventory of cultural resources,(v)coordinating community interests and(vi)preparing a cultural dissemination plan. The findings can contribute to formulating public initiatives for the institutionalisation of social media in governments for the purposes of preserving, promoting and guaranteeing the accessibility of cultural heritage. 展开更多

The study of organic stabilization is crucial for understanding its impact on the durability and effectiveness of earthen plaster.Analyzing natural admixtures’effects on plaster properties provides insights that aid in optimizing plaster composition and application for desired characteristics. The addition of biopolymers, known to enhance plaster performance, necessitates further investigation to understand their role in earthen plaster stabilization. This study focuses on Tata Somba homes in Benin and Togo, recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites. These unique architectural examples embody“architecture without architects”,relying solely on local traditional knowledge. The objective is to explore and revive Tata Somba’s ancient eco-technology for earth plaster stabilization.Research shows that biopolymers’combined stabilization and application techniques can improve earthen plaster performance.Seven promising bio-stabilizers were identified, suggesting their potential as sustainable, effective options for CO_(2) mitigation in buildings. These findings not only deepen our understanding of earthen architecture but also underscore the potential of merging traditional,eco-friendly building methods with modern scientific insights to create sustainable solutions for cultural heritage preservation and contemporary built environments. 展开更多

The integration of metaverse technologies within the academic sphere is redefining the landscape of digital humanities research and education. This study examines the current state and future prospects of metaverse digital humanities laboratories in higher education institutions, highlighting their importance and the challenges they face. The research underscores the significance of these laboratories in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, enhancing educational experiences, and promoting cultural preservation through digital means. The metaverse digital humanities laboratories are seen as crucial platforms for innovation, providing immersive environments that facilitate the application of advanced digital tools in humanities research. The study identifies key challenges, including the need for robust hardware infrastructure, the complexity of technology integration, data management concerns, and the necessity for ethical frameworks that address privacy and intellectual property rights. It also emphasizes the importance of user experience, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of a comprehensive talent cultivation system that aligns with the digital humanities.Strategies for the construction and development of these laboratories are proposed, such as accelerating metaverse infrastructure development, promoting the transformation of traditional digital humanities laboratories, and establishing mechanisms for data protection and resource sharing. The research also calls for the enhancement of user experiences through personalized services and the cultivation of talent through interdisciplinary educational programs. In conclusion, the metaverse digital humanities laboratories represent a strategic frontier in academic innovation, offering transformative potential for research and education in the humanities. The study provides a roadmap for the development of these laboratories, suggesting a comprehensive approach that addresses technological, pedagogical, ethical, and financial challenges, and emphasizing the importance of strategic planning and interdisciplinary collaboration in realizing their full potential. 展开更多

Agricultural heritage has potential significance far beyond its common representation as the "traditional" system of "traditional peoples".The U.N.Food and Agricultural Organization's Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems(GIAHS) program is an important designation that treats heritage agro-ecosystems as living systems, rather than cultural relics. In order for the GIAHS designation to achieve its full potential, however, the role of human knowledge within the continuous cultural and ecological evolution of GIAHS requires much closer examination and appreciation. This paper explores the limits of contemporary nature and cultural conservation, and draws on a coevolutionary theoretical framework in order to better conceptualize the dynamism of such complex agro-ecological systems. In such a view,GIAHS can be seen as evolving systems of sustainable agriculture of great potentail relevance to contemporary society-environment challenges, rather than as relics of the past. 展开更多
