High precision current measurement is very important for the calibration of various high-precision equipment and the measurement of other precision detection fields.A new current sensor based on diamond nitrogen-vacancy(NV)color center magnetic measurement method is proposed to realize the accurate measurement of current.This new current method can greatly improve the accuracy of current measurement.Experiments show that the linearity of the current sensor based on diamond NV color center can reach up to 33 ppm,which is superior to other current sensors and solves the problem of low linearity.When the range of input current is 5-40 A,the absolute error of the calculated current is less than 51μA,and the relative error is 2.42×10^(-6) at 40 A.Combined with the research content and results of the experiment,the application of the current sensor in the field of current precision measurement is prospected. 展开更多

In this paper,we present a method used to the numeral eddy current sensor modeling based on genetic neural network to settle its nonlinear problem.The principle and algorithms of genetic neural network are introduced.In this method, the nonlinear model parameters of the numeral eddy current sensor are optimized by genetic neural network (GNN) according to measurement data.So the method remains both the global searching ability of genetic algorithm and the good local searching ability of neural network.The nonlinear model has the advantages of strong robustness,on-line scaling and high precision.The maximum nonlinearity error can be reduced to 0.037% using GNN.However,the maximum nonlinearity error is 0.075% using least square method (LMS). 展开更多

This paper concludes the case study work on the optical sensor, which is a new method for voltage and current measurement. Fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) have been developed and used for decades in the telecommunication industry. In recent years, FBG sensors have found wide applications in monitoring strain, temperature, voltage and current across all industries. As the process of constructing a robust smart grid, thousands of miles of optical-fibers have been deployed along the power transmission lines for the purpose of power production communication. This paper focuses on using the power optical fiber as voltage/current sensors instead of those copper wired traditional current transformers. By using piezoelectric layers, the optical sensor is able to transform voltage/current magnitude into optical signal, as well as transmit the signal through the optical fiber. The application of using optical fiber will significantly reduce the cost of deploying traditional current transformers all around the power grid. Moreover, the optical sensor is more stable, more accurate and faster, with such characteristics, the smart grid monitoring system could be much better. The application of combining the optical composite low-voltage cable (OPLC) and the optical current sensor in the distribution network for smart distribution monitoring has been analyzed. 展开更多

This paper presents a Torque Sharing Function(TSF)control of Switched Reluctance Machines(SRMs)with different current sensor placements to reconstruct the phase currents.TSF requires precise phase current information to ensure accurate torque control.Two proposed methods with different chopping transistors or a new PWM implementation require four or two current sensors to replace the current sensors on each phase regardless of the phase number.For both approaches,the actual phase current can be easily extracted during the single phase conducting region.However,how to separate the incoming and outgoing phase current values during the commutation region is the difficult issue to deal with.In order to derive these two adjacent currents,the explanations and comparisons of two proposed methods are described.Their effectiveness is verified by experimental results on a four-phase 8/6 SRM.Finally,the approach with a new PWM implementation is selected,which requires only two current sensors for reducing the number of sensors.The control system can be more compact and cheaper. 展开更多

Stochastic noise identification in a stray current sensor

Then the optical configuration and the signal processing... The Allan variance analysis method is used to identify the stochastic noise in the stray current sensor. The stray current characteristic is firstly introduced. Then the optical configuration and the signal processing method of the stray current sensor are illustrated. Moreover, the cause of the stochastic noise in the stray current sensor is analyzed. The calculation method of the stochastic noise coefficient is presented in detail. And the feasibility of the stochastic noise identification with the Allan variance analysis method is evaluated. Furthermore, the zero-drift signal acquisition experiment is conducted to identify the stochastic noise in the stray current sensor. According to the experimental result, the bias instability noise, the quantization noise and the white noise are identified as the major stochastic noise. Finally, the experiment on the direct-current signal acquisitions is conducted, whose results indicate that the signal drift of the measured direct-current is mainly caused by the major stochastic noise. And the suppression methods of the major stochastic noise are proposed. 展开更多

Fatigue damage monitoring is critical metallic structure health monitoring of aircraft.The sensor should be high sensitive,easy to be integrated into structure and well adaptable for poor working conditions.Therefore,an attached eddy current sensor with flexible plane is put forward and its characteristics are analyzed.By extracting material′s conductivity as the crack features,forward semi-analytical model is established and parameter optimizations are carried out.Crack perturbation model of attached eddy current sensor is constructed,and perturbation voltages of sensing channels under three-dimension structural crack are obtained.To verify the sensor′s performance,monitoring experiment on crack extension is conducted under condition of 3 MHz frequency.The validation experimental results show that perturbation model of 2A12-T4 aluminum alloy agrees well with experiment results,and perturbation model errors of four sensing channels are within 25%.The attached eddy current sensor is capable of testing the crack nondestructively and measuring the crack extension quantitatively with the accuracy of 1mm. 展开更多

Eddy-current (EC) testing is an effective electromagnetic non-destructive testing (NDT) technique.Planar eddy-current sensor arrays have several advantages such as good coherence,fast response speed,and high sensitivity,which can be used for micro-damage inspection of crucial parts in mechanical equipments and aerospace aviation.The main purpose of this research is to detect the defect in a metallic material surface and identify the length of a crack using planar eddy-current sensor arrays in different directions.The principle and characteristics of planar eddy-current sensor arrays are introduced,and a crack length quantification algorithm in different directions is investigated.A damage quantitative detection system is established based on a field programmable gate array and ARM processor.The system is utilized to inspect the micro defect in a metallic material,which is carved to micro crack with size of 7mm(length)×0.1mm(width)×1mm(depth).The experimental data show that the sensor arrays can be used for the length measurement repeatedly,and that the uncertainty of the length measurement is below ±0.2mm. 展开更多

A High Dynamic Range GMI Current Sensor

The sensing element is a 30 ... The design and performances of a high dynamic range DC-AC current sensor utilizing Giant Magneto-Impedance (GMI) are presented. The sensor is based on a GMI element with negative feedback. The sensing element is a 30 μm diameter GMI Co-based amorphous wire. It is curled to a toroidal core of 2 cm diameter. A bias magnetic field of about 650 A/m is applied to the GMI element to obtain an asymmetric GMI effect. A strong negative feedback is introduced to ensure linearity in a wide dynamic range. Analog conditioning electronics was fully developed. This includes a square wave oscillator based on an inverter trigger;a peak detector and a high gain amplifier with zero adjust. The GMI element is driven at a 3 MHz frequency and 5 mA peak-to-peak current. The closed-loop operations are investigated and the performances of the sensor are presented. DC current measurements are performed. The sensor exhibits good sensitivity and very good linearity, free from hysteresis, in a wide dynamic range of ±40 A. The sensitivity is about 0.24 V/A and the linearity error is about 0.02% of the full scale (FS). The hysteresis error is smaller than the measurement accuracy. AC current measurements using the developed sensor have also been successfully achieved. The sensor bandwidth in closed-loop was about 1.7 kHz. 展开更多

In this paper, three kinds of PWM strategies together with some critical review on traditional current measurements in a BLDCM drive system are discussed. A novel method for assessing the PWM information and measuring the motor phase currents by a dc link current sensor is proposed. An attractive feature of the proposed method is the simplicity with the current sample processing because there is no need to incorporate the conduction information of the power switches or diodes. We report a novel battery-less wireless current sensor node without an analog to digital converter (ADC). If a capacitor is charged using a current transformer (CT) and a rectifying circuit, the charging time depends on the current flowing through a power line. In the case that the node transmits data every time when voltage of the capacitor exceeds a threshold voltage, we can indirectly measure the current by measuring the transmission intervals. In this method, the circuit of the node can be simplified and power consumption for the wireless transmission can be decreased because the measured current data does not need to be included in the transmitted packet. However, the measurable range is about single digit because the transmission interval decreases suddenly as the current increases. In this work, we have ex- panded the range using one CT, one wireless transmission module, and two charging circuits that include different load resistors connected in series. The results indicated that the measurable range was from 0.5 A to 50 A. 展开更多

Theoretical analysis on the magneto- optical fiber current sensor is given, followed by experiments. To enhance the measurement precision of eddy current sensor in particular environments such asextreme temperature changes and limited available space in aerospace, we optimized the structural parameters ofthe traditional dual-coil eddy current sensor probe by electromagnetic field analysis and finite element simulationmodeling, and further presented the criteria for determining the optimal coil distance of the dual-coil probe. Thesimulation results are verified by setting up an experimental platform. For the extreme temperature environment,the displacement measurement error caused by the full range temperature variation of the dual-coil sensor underthe optimal distance is less than 21.0% of that of the single-coil sensor. On this basis, we analyzed and verified thethermal stability of the structurally optimized dual-coil eddy current sensor. After temperature compensation,the displacement measurement accuracy can reach 14.9 times more accurate than that of the single-coil sensor.The method proposed in this paper can provide a design reference for the structural optimization of the axialdual-coil eddy current sensor probe. 展开更多

A passive current sensor,consisting of SmFe_(2)/PZT/SmFe_(2)self-biased magnetoelectric(ME)composite and Fe_(73.5)Cu_(1)Nb_(3)Si_(13.5)B_(9)nanocrystalline flux concentrator for weak current detection at power-line frequency,was fabricated and characterized.Giant magnetostrictive material of SmFe_(2)plate with large anisotropic constant provides a huge internal anisotropic field to bias the ME transducer in closed magnetic loop.Consequently,the additional magnetomotive force induced by the internal field and the corresponding increased effective permeabil-ity contribute to the improvement of the sensitivity.Experimental results demonstrate that the presented sensor has a higher sensitivity of 152 mV·A^(-1)at 50 Hz with a slight nonlinearity of~0.01%full scale(FS)and matches well with the predicted value.This presented current-sensing device exhibits approximately 2.3 times higher sensitivity than that of conventional ME composite with[Pb(Zr_(0.48),Ti_(0.52)O_(3)](PZT)and Terfenol-D plates serving as a key sensitive component.In addition,time stabilities of the presented sensor were evaluated for a long period of 72 h and analyzed through mathematical statistics method,and favorable stabilities with an uncertainty of 0.5μV are obtained in continuous 1 h testing.These results provide a significant advancement toward promising application of the tri-layer self-biased ME laminate for power-line elec-tric cords monitoring. 展开更多

A current-mode PWM buck DC-DC converter is proposed.With the high-accuracy on-chip current sensor,the switching frequency can be selected automatically according to load requirements.This method improves efficiency and obtains an excellent transient response.The high accuracy of the current sensor is achieved by a simple switch technique without an amplifier.This has the direct benefit of reducing power dissipation and die size.Additionally,a novel soft-start circuit is presented to avoid the inrush current at the starting up state.Finally,this DC-DC converter is fabricated with the 0.5 μm standard CMOS process.The chip occupies 3.38 mm^2.The accuracy of the proposed current sensor can achieve 99.5%@ 200 mA.Experimental results show that the peak efficiency is 91.8%.The input voltage ranges from 5 to 18 V,while a 2 A load current can be obtained. 展开更多
