To keep even current distribution among DC/DC converters in a paralleled power system,an automatic master-slave control (AMSC) current sharing scheme is presented,which was implemented by a current share control IC. A current feedback loop for output voltage adjustment is proposed for low signal distortion. Moreover,a special startup control logic is designed to improve startup timing and to speed up the initial current sharing. It was completed in 1.5μm bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCD) technology with an area of 3.6mm^2 . Using it,a paralleled power system of two DC/DC converters capable of outputting 12V/3A was built. This paper presents and investigates planar and coaxial high frequency power transformers used for DC/DC converters in a three phase photo voltaic (PV) power systems. The winding structure including a Faraday shield between the primary and secondary windings is designed to minimize eddy current losses, skin and proximity effects, and to reduce the leakage inductance, and the inter winding coupling capacitance. Finite Element Method is employed to analyze the magnetic flux and eddy current distributions. The two different kinds of prototype high frequency transformers are designed and tested. The simulation and experiment results are demonstrated and compared with non-shielded transformers. The shielded transformers have achieved the expected results with a relatively small coupling capacitance, compared with the conventional high frequency transformer. This shield decreases the inter-winding coupling capacitance Cps. The topology of this shield has to be such that it acts as a Faraday screen while avoiding eddy current generation. 展开更多

The traditional mathematical modelling is not available for complex structure converters since the differential equation order increases very high. We have to search other way to establish mathematical modelling for power DC/DC converters.We have theoretically defined a new concept-Energy Factor (EF) in this paper and researched the relations between EF and the mathematical modelling for power DC/DC converters. EF is a new concept in power DC/DC conversion technology, which thoroughly differs from the traditional concepts such as power factor (PF), power transfer efficiency (η), total harmonic distortion (THD) and ripple factor (RF). EF and the subsequential EFV (and EFVD) can illustrate the system stability, reference response and interference recovery. This investigation is very helpful for system design and DC/DC converters characteristics foreseeing. Two DC/DC converters: Buck converter and Super-Lift Luo-Converter as the samples are analysed in this paper to demonstrate the applications of EF, EFV (and EFVD), PE, SE, VE (and VED), time constant τ and damping time constant τd. 展开更多

Weight and Efficiency Optimized DC/DC Converter Based on Multiple Interleaved Channels

Today, energy saving is one of the main objectives for engineers. In the case of mobile applications, energy can be saved by two different ways: decreasing the total masse of the system and increasing the efficiency of the overall system. This paper presents two optimization strategies to design a predefined multichannel structure of a boost converter which is dedicated to a solar airplane and used to interface PV panels and the battery system. The first strategy is a multi-criterion method that is able to trace the dependency between the converter's efficiency and its power density through the intermediary of the Pareto front. The second method, a mono-criterion approach, maximizes efficiency while respecting the constraint imposed on power density. The mono-criterion method that is applied to maximizing the European efficiency criterion showed that an increase in the number of channels enhanced the quantity of energy collected over a day by increasing the power density of the converter. At the end of the paper, the optimal design calculated was built to give an example of the result obtained by this design methodology. The results of the efficiency measurements made on a realized prototype are presented in this paper. 展开更多

Robust Control Strategy for Inductive Parametric Uncertainties of DC/DC Converters in Islanded DC Microgrid

Direct current(DC) microgrid consists of many parallel power converters that share load currents through the inductance of DC/DC converters. Usually, the inductance parameters are dependent on the physical implementation of the system, and their values may not match their nameplates. Such disparities could lead to unequal response characteristics of the system, which can potentially reduce the performances of the DC microgrid operation. This paper proposes a robust control strategy for inductive parametric uncertainties of DC/DC converters using an optimal control method with integral action. To achieve such a goal, the system model parameters with nominal values are transformed into parametric unmatched uncertainties to form a robust control problem, which is then transformed into a linear quadratic regulator problem. The inductance uncertainties are stabilized with the uncertainty dynamic algebraic Riccati equation(UDARE) using state feedback gain under linear quadratic regulator. The closed-loop control with integral action is adopted to achieve a steady-state error of zero on the DC-link voltage at any uncertainty of the inductive parameter, which subsequently ensures the equal load current sharing. Off-line simulations and real-time validations based on OpalRT have been conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed robust control strategy. 展开更多

Non-isolated DC/DC converter based on modular multilevel converter(MMC)technology is expected to play an important role in future DC transmission grids.This paper presents a phasor analytical model for this new family of converters which is suitable for a range of studies like DC grid power flow or DC/DC parametric design.The 30th-order phasor model is derived in 3 coordinate frames:zero sequence(DC),fundamental frequency(dq),and double frequency(d2q2).The second-harmonic current suppression control is included as an option.Additionally,an estimation of the required control signals is presented,and a closed-loop model is developed which facilitates direct calculation of all variables and fast parametric studies.The accuracy of the proposed models is verified against a detailed PSCAD model for a wide range of parameters.The studies illustrate the importance of the second-harmonic components on the model accuracy.Finally,the impact of the converter parameters on the performance is studied,and a basic eigenvalue stability analysis is given. 展开更多

Unpredictable power fluctuation and fault ridethrough capability attract increased attention as two uncertain major factors in doubly-fed induction generators(DFIGs)integrated DC power system.Present solutions usually require complicated cooperation comprising multiple modules of energy storage,current control,and voltage stabilizer.To overcome the drawbacks of existing solutions,this paper proposes a superconducting magnetic energy storage(SMES)integrated currentsource DC/DC converter(CSDC).It is mainly composed of a current-source back-to-back converter,and the SMES is tactfully embedded in series with the intermediate DC link.The proposed SMES-CSDC is installed in front of the DC-DFIG to carry out its dual abilities of load voltage stabilization under multifarious transient disturbances and power regulation under wind speed variations.Compared with the existing DC protection devices,the SMES-CSDC is designed on the basis of unique current-type energy storage.It has the advantages of fast response,extensive compensation range,concise hardware structure,and straightforward control strategy.The feasibility of the SMESCSDC is implemented via a scaled-down experiment,and its effectiveness for DC-DFIG protection is verified by a large-scale DC power system simulation. 展开更多

Alternating Current–Direct Current(AC–DC)converters require a high value bulk capacitor or afilter capacitor between the DC–DC conversion stages,which in turn causes many problems in the design of a AC–DC converter.The component package size for this capacitor is large due to its high voltage rating and capacitance value.In addition,the high charging current creates more pro-blems during the product compliance testing phase.The shelf life of these specific high value capacitors is less than that of Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors(MLCC),which limits its use for the highly reliable applications.This paper presents a fea-sibility study to overcome these two problems by adding a few sensing mechan-isms to the typical AC–DC converter topology.In majority of the AC–DC converter,Al-Elko capacitor takes approximately 3%to 5%of the converter size.The proposed method reduces this to approximately 50%size and so it effectively approximates 2%to 3%size reduction in converter size.The proposed method basically works based on the load current prediction method and hence it is highly suitable for the constant load application.Moreover,the converter response time increases in this method,which limit its application in high-speed systems.The high temperature application of Al-Elko capacitor is limited because of its poor performance,which is significantly rectified by replacing the Al-Elko with MLCC as it delivers good performance in high temperature. 展开更多

In light of the growing integration of renewable energy sources in power systems,the adoption of DC microgrids has become increasingly popular,due to its simple structure,having no frequency,power factor concerns.However,the dependence of DC microgrids on cyber-networks also makes them susceptible to cyber-attacks.Potential cyberattacks can disrupt power system facilities and result in significant economic and loss of life.To address this concern,this paper presents an attack-resilient control strategy for microgrids to ensure voltage regulation and power sharing with stable operation under cyber-attack on the actuators.This paper first formulates the cyber-security problem considering a distributed generation based microgrid using the converter model,after which an attack-resilient control is proposed to eliminate the actuator attack impact on the system.Steady state analysis and root locus validation illustrate the feasibility of the proposed method.The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is demonstrated through simulation results. 展开更多

针对直流微网系统中双有源桥直流变换器在系统发生扰动时动态特性差及在单移相调制下变换器效率不高等问题,该文在扩展移相调制下提出一种结合回流功率优化的超螺旋滑模控制策略。首先,分析双有源全桥(dual-active-bridge,DAB)变换器在... 针对直流微网系统中双有源桥直流变换器在系统发生扰动时动态特性差及在单移相调制下变换器效率不高等问题,该文在扩展移相调制下提出一种结合回流功率优化的超螺旋滑模控制策略。首先,分析双有源全桥(dual-active-bridge,DAB)变换器在扩展移相调制下两种模式的传输功率、回流功率数学模型及软开关特性,并以传输功率数学模型为基础建立DAB变换器的降阶模型。其次,以回流功率作为目标函数,以传输功率和软开关特性作为约束条件,通过Karush-Kuhn-Tucker(KKT)条件法寻找最优移相比组合;利用DAB变换器降阶模型设计超螺旋滑模控制中的等效部分,采用超螺旋算法作为切换部分,这两部分与内移相比D1共同作用生成外移相比D2,用于调节变换器的输出电压。最后进行了仿真及实验验证,实验结果表明:在负载投切、输入电压突变、参考电压改变时变换器具有良好的动态性能,同时能有效地减小回流功率。 展开更多

为充分利用双有源桥DC-DC变换器的容量,减小无功功率,提升工作效率,提出一种基于变换器移相控制统一模型的基波环流优化控制策略。通过引入基波移相比对变换器的所有移相控制方式进行统一描述,并采用傅里叶分解法建立全桥交流电压及电... 为充分利用双有源桥DC-DC变换器的容量,减小无功功率,提升工作效率,提出一种基于变换器移相控制统一模型的基波环流优化控制策略。通过引入基波移相比对变换器的所有移相控制方式进行统一描述,并采用傅里叶分解法建立全桥交流电压及电感电流的统一模型。该统一模型降低了多控制变量下变换器多模态分析的复杂性,适用于不同移相控制的所有工作模式,具有普适性。基于频域分析法和功率因数角,构建变换器传输功率及无功功率的统一数学模型。在此基础上,提出考虑无功基波分量的环流优化控制策略,并对传导损耗进行建模与分析。该策略简单有效,能够很好地减小变换器无功功率和改善系统效率,更有利于工程实际的应用。搭建了实验平台,对比了所提基波环流优化控制策略与传统移相控制方式下变换器的功率因数及变换效率,仿真和实验结果验证了理论分析的正确性和所提控制策略的可行性。 展开更多
