In the present study, actinomycetes from different districts of Libyan soil were isolated and screened for their inhibitory activity against pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Three hundred soil samples were taken from 77 diverse ecosystems, including deserts, forests, pastureland, and cropland located in different climatic regions in Libya. A total of 164 actinomycetes were obtained. Of 164 isolates, 38 (23.2%) isolates were morphologically and microscopically characterized by spore chain and surface morphology, aerial and substrate mycelia and soluble pigments. The preliminary classification of the isolates illustrates that all isolates belong to the genus Streptomyces. These isolates were further examined for their antagonistic potential against nine pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Out of 38, 11 (28.9%) isolates showed their capability to produce inhibitory substances against at least two tested strains. Among bacterial strains, Staphylococcus aureus was susceptible to almost all eleven isolates (90.9%), while Streptococcus pyogenes was found to be resistant to most selected isolates (18.2%). The isolate, 063 (Wadan soil-desert zone) was the only isolate that exhibited broad spectrum antimicrobial activity against all tested pathogenic microbes, and hence was selected for further study. According to its cultural, morphological, physiological, and biochemical characteristics, the isolate 063 was identified as Streptomyces rochei. The results obtained indicate that the Libyan soil, particularly in extreme environments, could be a potent source of bioactive metabolites with antimicrobial potency against a wide variety of microbial pathogens. Thus, this investigation suggested that exploring new habitats in unexplored and untapped regions of Libya could provide a promising source of biologically active compounds for therapeutic applications.展开更多

However, the size the hexagonal boron nitride films are limited to the size of growth chamber, which indicates a lower production efficiency. In this paper, the utilization efficiency of growth chamber is highly improved by alternately stacking multiple pieces of Cu foils and carbon fiber surface felt with porous structure. Uniform and continuous hexagonal boron nitride films are prepared on Cu foils through chemical vapor deposition utilizing ammonia borane as the precursor. This work develops a simple and practicable method for high-throughput preparation of hexagonal boron nitride films, which could contribute to the industrial application of hexagonal boron nitride. .展开更多

文摘Objective Contact precautions, especially the initiation of isolation, are important measures to prevent and control multidrug-resistant organisms(MDROs).However, the implementation in clinical practice remains weak. This study aimed to analyze the impact of multidisciplinary collaborative intervention on isolation implementation in multidrug-resistant infection, and determine the factors that affect the implementation of isolation measures. Methods A multidisciplinary collaborative intervention related to isolation was conducted at a teaching tertiary hospital in central China on November 1,2018.The information of 1338 patients with MDRO infection and colonization at 10 months before and after the intervention was collected. Then, the issuance of isolation orders was retrospectively analyzed.Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed to analyze the factors that affected the isolation implementation. Results The overall issuance rate of isolation orders was 61.21%,which increased from 33.12%to 75.88%(P<0.001)after the implementation of the multidisciplinary collaborative intervention. The intervention(P<0.001,OR=0.166)was a promoting factor for the issuance of isolation orders,in addition to the length of stay(P=0.004,OR=0.991),department(P=0.004),and microorganism(P=0.038).Conclusion The isolation implementation remains far lower than policy standards.Multidisciplinary collaborative interventions can effectively improve the compliance to isolation measures implemented by doctors, thereby promoting the standardized management of MDROs,and providing reference for further improving the quality of hospital infection management.
文摘The rapid increase of bacterial resistance strains to multiple antibiotics has become a global public health concern. Thus, this investigation suggested that exploring new habitats in unexplored and untapped regions of Libya could provide a promising source of biologically active compounds for therapeutic applications.

文摘Objectives The aim of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties(reliability and validity)of the Social Isolation Scale(SIS)in a sample of Portuguese community-dwelling older adults. Methods A transversal descriptive study was carried out with a convenience sample of 250 community-dwelling older adults(≥65 years). The survey comprised a sociodemographic questionnaire,SIS,Geriatric Depression Scale-4(GDS-4),6-item Lubben Social Network Scale(LSNS-6),a loneliness self-assessment question, and Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS).Construct validity(confirmatory factor analysis)and convergent validity were analyzed, and ISI internal reliability(composite reliability),external reliability(test-retest,intraclass correlation coefficient)and inter-rater reliability(Cohen’s kappa coefficient)were evaluated. Results Confirmatory factor analysis showed a two-factor model with an excellent index of fit.The SIS showed significant correlations with LSNS-6(rs=0.47),SWLS(rs=0.26),the loneliness self-assessment question(rs=0.35),and GDS-4(rs=−0.16).SIS composite reliability was good(0.708).The inter-class correlation coefficient varied from 0.84 to 0.98.The Cohen’s kappa coefficient ranged from 0.936 to 1.Conclusions SIS has been shown to be a valid and reliable instrument for assessing social isolation among Portuguese community-dwelling older adults.Healthcare professionals, particularly nurses working in community settings, can use SIS to assess social isolation in older adults to design, implement, and evaluate interventions.
文摘Background: Proximity between older patients and their close relatives is essential during hospitalisation. During the first wave of the pandemic, the Danish Patient Safety Authority restricted no hospital visitors. Aim: To explore how older patients with COVID-19 and their close relatives experienced physical separation during hospitalization. Method: A qualitative study using semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis was employed. Findings: Six interviews were conducted: three patients with a mean age of 81 years and three close relatives—two daughters and one spouse. The patients felt boredom, loneliness, and a sense of imprisonment, yet they felt safe and satisfied. Isolation was known beforehand from the media. Close relatives emphasised that information, involvement, and collaboration with hospital staff were crucial. Conclusion: Although older patients with COVID-19 and their close relatives widely accept their situation during hospitalization, they experience negative consequences from social isolation.

文摘Exosomes are important biomarkers for clinical diagnosis. It is critical to isolate secreted exosomes from bodily fluids such as blood, saliva, breast milk, and urine for liquid biopsy applications. The field of microfluidics provides numerous benefits for biosample processing, diagnostics, and prognostics.Several microfluidics-based methods have been employed for the isolation and purification of exosomes in the last ten years. These microfluidic methods can be grouped into two categories based on passive and active isolation mechanisms. In the first group, inertial and hydrodynamic forces are employed to separate exosomes based on their size differences. In the second group, external forcefields are integrated into microfluidic platforms to actively isolate exosomes from other bioparticles. In this paper, the application of microfluidic methods in exosome isolation is discussed, and future perspectives on this field are highlighted.
文摘It is not easy to construct a model to describe the geochemical background in geochemical anomaly detection due to the complexity of the geological setting.Isolation forest and its improved algorithms can detect geochemical anomalies without modeling the complex geochemical background. These methods can effec-tively extract multivariate anomalies from large volume of high-dimensional geochemical data with unknown population distribution. To test the performance of these algorithms in the detection of mineralization-related geochemical anomalies, the isolation forest, extended isolation forest and generalized isolation forest models were established to detect multivariate anomalies from the stream sediment survey data collected in the Wu-laga area in Heilongjiang Province. The geochemical anomalies detected by the generalized isolation forest model account for 40%of the study area, and contain 100%of the known gold deposits. The geochemical anomalies detected by the isolation forest model account for 20%of the study area, and contain 71%of the known gold deposits. The geochemical anomalies detected by the extended isolation forest algorithm account for 34%of the study area, and contain 100%of the known gold deposits. Therefore, the isolation forest mo-del,extended isolation fo-rest model and generalized isolation forest model are comparable in geochemical anomaly detection.

文摘This paper presents a simplified elastic continuum method for calculating the restraint effect of isolation piles on tunneling-induced vertical ground displacement, which can consider not only the relative sliding of the pile‒soil interface but also the pile rowesoil interaction. The proposed method is verified by comparisons with existing theoretical methods, including the boundary element method and the elastic foundation method. The results reveal the restraining mechanism of the isolation piles on vertical ground displacements due to tunneling,i.e.the positive and negative restraint effects exerted by the isolation piles jointly drive the ground vertical displacement along the depth direction from the original tunneling-induced nonlinear variation situation to a relatively uniform situation. The results also indicate that the stiffness of the pile‒soil interface, including the pile shaft‒surrounding soil interface and pile tip-supporting soil interface, describes the strength of the pile‒soil interaction. The pile rows can confine the vertical ground displacement caused by the tunnel excavation to the inner side of the isolation piles and effectively prevent the vertical ground displacement from expanding further toward the outer side of the isolation piles.
文摘Chemical vapor deposition is considered as the most hopeful method for the synthesis of large-area high-quality hexagonal boron nitride on the substrate of catalytic metal. This work develops a simple and practicable method for high-throughput preparation of hexagonal boron nitride films, which could contribute to the industrial application of hexagonal boron nitride. .

文摘In the Internet of Things(IoT)system, relay communication is widely used to solve the problem of energy loss in long-distance transmission and improve transmission efficiency. In Body Sensor Network(BSN)systems, biosensors communicate with receiving devices through relay nodes to improve their limited energy efficiency. When the relay node fails, the biosensor can communicate directly with the receiving device by releasing more transmitting power. However,if the remaining battery power of the biosensor is insufficient to enable it to communicate directly with the receiving device, the biosensor will be isolated by the system. Therefore,a new combinatorial analysis method is proposed to analyze the influence of random isolation time(RIT)on system reliability, and the competition relationship between biosensor isolation and propagation failure is considered. This approach inherits the advantages of common combinatorial algorithms and provides a new approach to effectively address the impact of RIT on system reliability in IoT systems, which are affected by competing failures. Finally, the method is applied to the BSN system, and the effect of RIT on the system reliability is analyzed in detail.
文摘This study explored the effect of perceived social isolation on the mental health of college students during the high-risk period of COVID-19 transmission in Hubei,China and the role of social support from online friends in alleviating this effect. The questionnaire responses of 213 college students from four universities in Hubei were included.Measurement and structural models were constructed using structural equation modeling. The findings revealed that perceived social isolation while under home quarantine was a negative predictor of the mental health of college students in Hubei.Low social support from online friends may lead to a relatively strong relationship between perceived social isolation and mental health in these college students, whereas high social support from online friends may lead to a relatively weak relationship between perceived social isolation and mental health.
