The mesoscale eddy and internal wave both are phenomena commonly observed in oceans. It is aimed to investigate how the presence of a mesoscale eddy in the ocean affects wave form deformation of the internal solitary wave propagation. An ocean eddy is produced by a quasi-geostrophic model in f-plane, and the one-dimensional nonlinear variable-coefficient extended Korteweg-de Vries (eKdV) equation is used to simulate an internal solitary wave passing through the mesoscale eddy field. The results suggest that the mode structures of the linear internal wave are modified due to the presence of the mesoscale eddy field. A cyclonic eddy and an anticyclonic eddy have different influences on the background environment of the internal solitary wave propagation. The existence of a mesoscale eddy field has almost no prominent impact on the propagation of a smallamplitude internal solitary wave only based on the first mode vertical structure, but the mesoscale eddy background field exerts a considerable influence on the solitary wave propagation if considering high-mode vertical structures. Furthermore, whether an internal solitary wave first passes through anticyclonic eddy or cyclonic eddy, the deformation of wave profiles is different. Many observations of solitary internal waves in the real oceans suggest the formation of the waves. Apart from topography effect, it is shown that the mesoscale eddy background field is also a considerable factor which influences the internal solitary wave propagation and deformation. 展开更多

As the main load-bearing component of fish cages, the floating collar supports the whole cage and undergoes large deformations. In this paper, a mathematical method is developed to study the motions and elastic deformations of elastic floating collars in random waves. The irregular wave is simulated by the random phase method and the statistical approach and Fourier transfer are applied to analyze the elastic response in both time and frequency domains. The governing equations of motions are established by Newton's second law, and the governing equations of deformations are obtained based on curved beam theory and modal superposition method. In order to validate the numerical model of the floating collar attacked by random waves, a series of physical model tests are conducted. Good relationship between numerical simulation and experimental observations is obtained. The numerical results indicate that the transfer function of out-of-plane and in-plane deformations increase with the increasing of wave frequency. In the frequency range between 0.6 Hz and 1.1 Hz, a linear relationship exists between the wave elevations and the deformations. The average phase difference between the wave elevation and out-of-plane deformation is 60° with waves leading and the phase between the wave elevation and in-plane deformation is 10° with waves lagging. In addition, the effect of fish net on the elastic response is analyzed. The results suggest that the deformation of the floating collar with fish net is a little larger than that without net. 展开更多

The emergence of wearable and foldable electronic devices urges advanced electromagnetic(EM)wave absorbers with maintained performance under deformation.Here FeCo@MoS_(2)poly vinyl alcohol(PVA)aerogels have been fabricated with the assistance of EM waves for simultaneous splitting of the MoS_(2)flakes and dispersive growth of FeCo nanoparticles.The resultants in-return have been used for EM wave absorption with excellent performance,providing minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of-40.7 dB and a broad effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 6.4 GHz at a thickness of 2.5 mm.Real-time compression has been introduced to reveal the evolution of EM parameters.The aerogels maintain satisfactory performance even under 50%compression due to the balance of impedance matching and attenuation.Despite the deterioration of impedance matching,the attenuation is significantly enhanced due to both strengthened conductive loss and magnetic loss.In addition,features such as lightweight,self-cleaning and refractory can be achieved for the aerogels for applications in complex environments.As such this work not only provides a versatile synthetic route assisted by EM wave energy,but also insights on the evolution of absorption performance under deformation together with the design strategy of multifunctional flexible wave absorbers. 展开更多

Elimination of human losses is the main and immediate task in the seismic vulnerability problem.The authors suggest the ways of development of seismic research and discussion of defense problems for reducing of seismic vulnerability. It is the ways of nonlinear seismology region. Unconditionally seism zoning and the theory of catastrophes allow reduce human losses and building destruction. But well-known isoseists are the private case of caustic catastrophe theory or seismo-acoustics, so seism zoning can be amounted to 6 elementary catastrophe forms. It will better help to predict seismic actions. The short-time local prediction of seismic events is general method for strong reducing of human losses. This method takes into account chaotic properties of stress fields and waves and the peculiarities of urban area. It bases on the natural seismo-emission phenomenon and is realized by long-time monitoring, which gives statistically and geographically continuous picture (chart) of seismic noise level inside geologic media. The instruments of this strategy are shock and pressure-proofed seismometers for long-time monitoring and control the state of geological media including underwater shelf areas. The authors think that the active protecting for cities and buildings as the best modem form of people safety consists in stress discharge of geologic media. Ultrasonic wave defense includes and bases on strong interaction between powerful waves from earthquake and ultrasonic wave train. The authors want to point out that the technical objects may be used lbr the investigation of earthquakes induced and some reasons of seismic vulnerability. Also reducing of seismic vulnerability contains as component kinetic acting on volcano at the pre-explosive stage. The interesting and important aspect of defense problem is observation of the inharmonic wave processes in the soil and quasi-constant forces as the nearest seismic analogue of radiation forces in nonlinear acoustics under powerful earthquake seismic tremor. 展开更多
