As the process of economic globalization continues to advance,China has undergone earth-shaking changes.High-quality products and promotional materials are crucial for Chinese companies to go global and build their brands.The English translation of external promotional materials is crucial.However,some companies do not pay enough attention to their publicity,resulting in a low international status.This paper analyzes the Chinese-English translation of enterprise external publicity materials from the perspective of adaptation theory,thereby exploring the translation strategies adopted under the guidance of adaptation theory,hoping to provide some references for related translation practices in the future.

Cross-Culture Adaptation in Business Context: the Implication of Adaptation Theory in Translation

Translation of Brand Names Based on Adaptation Theory

This paper,from the perspective of Verschueren’s adaptation theory,explores how a translator should adapt to the properties of products,different language customs,and consumers’psychology during the translation of brand names.First,a gen eral introduction is made on adaptation theory.Then,the application of adaptation theory in brand name translation is illustrated.Finally it is found that adaptation theory is very helpful for the translation of brand names.

Research on Anthropomorphic Obstacle Avoidance Trajectory Planning for Adaptive Driving Scenarios Based on Inverse Reinforcement Learning Theory

The forward design of trajectory planning strategies requires preset trajectory optimization functions,resulting in poor adaptability of the strategy and an inability to accurately generate obstacle avoidance trajectories that conform to real driver behavior habits.In addition,owing to the strong time-varying dynamic characteristics of obstacle avoidance scenarios,it is necessary to design numerous trajectory optimization functions and adjust the corresponding parameters.Therefore,an anthropomorphic obstacle-avoidance trajectory planning strategy for adaptive driving scenarios is proposed.First,numerous expert-demonstrated trajectories are extracted from the HighD natural driving dataset.Subsequently,a trajectory expectation feature-matching algorithm is proposed that uses maximum entropy inverse reinforcement learning theory to learn the extracted expert-demonstrated trajectories and achieve automatic acquisition of the optimization function of the expert-demonstrated trajectory.Furthermore,a mapping model is constructed by combining the key driving scenario information that affects vehicle obstacle avoidance with the weight of the optimization function,and an anthropomorphic obstacle avoidance trajectory planning strategy for adaptive driving scenarios is proposed.Finally,the proposed strategy is verified based on real driving scenarios.The results show that the strategy can adjust the weight distribution of the trajectory optimization function in real time according to the“emergency degree”of obstacle avoidance and the state of the vehicle.Moreover,this strategy can generate anthropomorphic trajectories that are similar to expert-demonstrated trajectories,effectively improving the adaptability and acceptability of trajectories in driving scenarios.

Complex adaptive system theory,agent-based modeling,and simulation in dominant technology formation

Dominant technology formation is the key for the hightech industry to“cross the chasm”and gain an established foothold in the market(and hence disrupt the regime).Therefore,a stimulus-response model is proposed to investigate the dominant technology by exploring its formation process and mechanism.Specifically,based on complex adaptive system theory and the basic stimulus-response model,we use a combination of agent-based modeling and system dynamics modeling to capture the interactions between dominant technology and the socio-technical landscape.The results indicate the following:(i)The dynamic interaction is“stimulus-reaction-selection”,which promotes the dominant technology’s formation.(ii)The dominant technology’s formation can be described as a dynamic process in which the adaptation intensity of technology standards increases continuously until it becomes the leading technology under the dual action of internal and external mechanisms.(iii)The dominant technology’s formation in the high-tech industry is influenced by learning ability,the number of adopting users and adaptability.Therein,a“critical scale”of learning ability exists to promote the formation of leading technology:a large number of adopting users can promote the dominant technology’s formation by influencing the adaptive response of technology standards to the socio-technical landscape and the choice of technology standards by the socio-technical landscape.There is a minimum threshold and a maximum threshold for the role of adaptability in the dominant technology’s formation.(iv)The socio-technical landscape can promote the leading technology’s shaping in the high-tech industry,and different elements have different effects.This study promotes research on the formation mechanism of dominant technology in the high-tech industry,presents new perspectives and methods for researchers,and provides essential enlightenment for managers to formulate technology strategies.

This paper deals with the translation strategies of Chinese Culture-Loaded Words from the perspective of adaptation theory.It is based on the translation text of the sixth episode“Silk Road”and the seventh episode“Dunhuang”of the documentary Hexi Corridor.Many words with Chinese cultural connotations appear in the subtitles of this documentary.This paper will be divided into four parts.The first part and the second part deal with the basic theories,i.e.,definition of Chinese Culture-Loaded Words and of adaptation theory.The original text is analysed in the third part.This part deals with the background and specifics of the language of the documentary film Hexi Corridor.The fourth part deals with the difficulties encountered by the author in translation practice and the corresponding solutions adopted by the author.The translation difficulties are solved by five translation methods,namely transliteration,loan translation,substitution,interpretation,and adaptation.

The Adaptation Theory on College English Teaching

The theory of linguistic adaptation mainly focuses on the problems of linguistic output,which advocates that the lan⁃guage usage is the linguistic process of constantly choosing certain words and puts the emphasis on the consistency of communica⁃tive objectives,communicative situations and communicative subjects.Starting from the perspective of the theory of linguistic adap⁃tation,some possible problems which would appear in English language teaching process would be fully discussed together with the guiding significance and practical suggestions.In essence,communicators should adjust linguistic reality,social conventions and mental motivation.The results find that the adaptation theory could firstly enrich language skills between teachers and students and set a model for English adaptation.Secondly,it could emphasize the situational teaching and create the English adaptation environ⁃ment.Thirdly,it could endow teachers with effective tactics and conduct the English situational teaching.Fourthly,it could let teachers pay attention to the words in class resulting in creating the positive influence of situational adaptation.

On Code-switching in Chinese Popular Songs from the Perspective of Adaptation Theory

With the advancing of Globalization,the language contact among people all over the world has become increasingly frequently.As the direct outcome of the language contact,code-switching has deeply rooted in people’s daily life as a common phenomenon which has drew great concerns.This paper aims at doing the research based on Chinese popular songs as the corpuses which are collected from the Internet with the method of empirical studies.First the corpuses are classified according to different criteria and then with the theory of Adaptation,code switching has been studied through the adaptation to social conventions,linguistic realities and the psychology motivations.As a normal linguistic as well as social phenomenon,code-switching should be treated with strict and respect.
