To investigate the influences of different admixtures on the drying shrinkage of polymer mortar in a metakaolin base,the experiments of VAE(vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer),APAM(anionic polyacrylamide)and CPAM(cationic polyacrylamide)on the drying shrinkage properties of geopolymer mortar were designed under normal temperature curing conditions.An SP-175 mortar shrinkage dilatometer was introduced to measure the dry shrinkage of geopolymer mortar.Meanwhile,the drying shrinkage properties of geopolymer mortar are exhibited by the parameters of water loss rate,drying shrinkage rate,drying shrinkage strain and drying shrinkage coefficient.The experimental data are further fitted to obtain the prediction model of dry shrinkage of geopolymer mortar,which can better reflect the relationship between dry shrinkage rate and time.Finally,the experimental results demonstrate that the dry shrinkage of geopolymer mortar can be significantly increased by adding 4%VAE admixture,meanwhile under the condition that the polymer film formed by VAE reaction can strengthen and toughen the mortar.2.5%APAM admixture and 1.5%CPAM admixture can enhance the dry shrinkage performance of geopolymer mortar in a certain range. 展开更多

Drying is a complex operation that demands much energy and time. Drying is essentially important for preservation of ginger rhizome. Drying of ginger was modeled, and then the effective diffusion coefficient and activation energy were determined. For this purpose, the experiments were done at six levels of varied temperatures: 10°C, 20°C, 30°C, 40°C, 50°C and 60°C. The values of effective diffusion coefficients obtained in this work for the variously treated ginger rhizomes closely agreed with the average effective diffusion coefficients of other notable authors who determined the drying kinetics and convective heat transfer coefficients of ginger slices. 展开更多

Study on microwave-induced thin-layer drying of municipal sludge for fuel reclamation 被引量:3

Since the adverse factors such as deficient penetration and long reaction time have restricted the complete microwave-used drying of municipal sludge, the microwave-induced drying is considered, which has advantages in such aspects. The investigation of the microwave-induced drying to uncover the mechanism bears great meaning for its development and utilization. The effects of temperature and microwave cracking in municipal sewage sludge drying characteristics are stud- ied through municipal sewage sludge drying experiment. Experiments shows that higher drying temperature would lead to a more acutely changing drying rate (DR). The DR had increased from 0.005 g/(g.min) to 0.060 g/(g·min), which was 12 times enlarged, while the temperature rose from 70℃ to 160 ℃. The higher the temperature was, the earlier the peak value of DR appeared. The experiments indicated that the temperature was the decisive factor affecting the DR. The microwave-induced sludge reached the highest DR at the moisture rate (MR) of 40%, with a 20% grade promotion compared with that of the original one. The molecular fracture caused by microwave radiation had obviously accelerated the drying process and the DR was rising in proportion to the microwave radiation dose. The diffusion coefficient had been calculated according to Fick's law. In com- parison to that of the original one, the diffusion coefficient of microwave-induced sludge was obviously enlarged more than two times. By fit examinations, Model Weibull was proven to be the most fit one for thermal thin-layer drying of municipal sludge. By means of Arrhenius equation, the obtained average activation energy of municipal sludge was 37.1 kJ/(mol·K). 展开更多

We prepared concretes(RC0, RC30, and RC100) with three different mixes. The poresize distribution parameters of RAC were examined by high-precision mercury intrusion method(MIM) and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) imaging. A capillary-bundle physical model with random-distribution pores(improved model, IM) was established according to the parameters, and dry-shrinkage strain values were calculated and verified. Results show that in all pore types, capillary pores, and gel pores have the greatest impacts on concrete shrinkage, especially for pores 2.5-50 and 50-100 nm in size. The median radii are 34.2, 31, and 34 nm for RC0, RC30, and RC100, respectively. Moreover, the internal micropore size distribution of RC0 differs from that of RC30 and RC100, and the pore descriptions of MIM and NMR are consistent both in theory and in practice. Compared with the traditional capillary-bundle model, the calculated results of IM have higher accuracy as demonstrated by experimental verifi cation. 展开更多

A detached eddy simulation(DES) and a k-ε-based Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes(RANS) calculation on the co-current spray drying chamber is presented. The DES used here is based on the Spalart–Allmaras(SA) turbulence model, whereas the standard k-ε(SKE) was considered here for comparison purposes. Predictions of the mean axial velocity, temperature and humidity profile have been evaluated and compared with experimental measurements. The effects of the turbulence model on the predictions of the mean axial velocity, temperature and the humidity profile are most noticeable in the(highly anisotropic) spraying region. The findings suggest that DES provide a more accurate prediction(with error less than 5%) of the flow field in a spray drying chamber compared with RANS-based k-ε models. The DES simulation also confirmed the presence of anisotropic turbulent flow in the spray dryer from the analysis of the velocity component fluctuations and turbulent structure as illustrated by the Q-criterion. 展开更多

A WRF-Chem model including a comprehensive gas-phase nitrogen chemistry module was used to simulate a severe dust event appearing in the eastern China on 19-25 March, 2002. The modeling result well reproduced PM10 concentrations in various distances from the dust sources and the transport pathway of the dust strom. The results showed that both the concentrations and the dry deposition fluxes of PM10 increased over the China seas during the dust event following the passage of a cold front system. The maximum fluxes of PM10 in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea during the dust event were 5.5 and 8.4 times of those before the event, respectively. However, the temporal variations of the dry deposition fluxes of particulate inorganic nitrogen differed over the Yellow Sea from those over the East China Sea. Nitrate and ammonium in the whole northern China rapidly decreased because of the intrusion of dust-loaded air on 19 March. The dust plume arrived in the Yellow Sea on 20 March, decreasing the particulate inorganic nitrogen in mass concentration accordingly. The minimum dry deposition fluxes of nitrate and ammonium in the Yellow Sea were about 3/5 and 1/6 of those before the dust arrival, respectively. In contrast, when the dust plume crossed over the Yangtze Delta area, it became abundant in nitrate and ammonium and increased the concentrations and dry deposition fluxes of particulate inorganic nitrogen over the East China Sea, where the maximum dry deposition fluxes of nitrate and ammonium increased approximately by 4.1 and 2.6 times of those prior to the dust arrival. 展开更多

The compound dry cleaning principle is briefly described.A beneficiation test on South African coal was conducted using a model compound dry cleaning apparatus.Excellent results were obtained and the optimum operating parameters were determined.They are:an amplitude of 3.0 mm,a motor frequency of 47.5 Hz,an air volume of 50%,a transverse angle of 7°,and a longitudinal angle of-2°.These conditions yield a clean coal containing 11%ash and a coal production of 75%.The organic efficiency,η,is 95.86%.These results show that the South African coal can be separated effectively by compound dry cleaning,which will popularize the compound dry cleaning method. 展开更多

Background: To our knowledge, there is little study on the interaction between nutrient availability and molecular structure changes induced by different processing methods in dairy cattle. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of heat processing methods on interaction between nutrient availability and molecular structure in terms of functional groups that are related to protein and starch inherent structure of oat grains with two continued years and three replication of each year.Method: The oat grains were kept as raw(control) or heated in an air-draft oven(dry roasting: DO) at 120 °C for 60 min and under microwave irradiation(MIO) for 6 min. The molecular structure features were revealed by vibrational infrared molecular spectroscopy.Results: The results showed that rumen degradability of dry matter, protein and starch was significantly lower(P 〈0.05) for MIO compared to control and DO treatments. A higher protein α-helix to β-sheet and a lower amide I to starch area ratio were observed for MIO compared to DO and/or raw treatment. A negative correlation(-0.99, P 〈 0.01)was observed between α-helix or amide I to starch area ratio and dry matter. A positive correlation(0.99, P 〈 0.01) was found between protein β-sheet and crude protein.Conclusion: The results reveal that oat grains are more sensitive to microwave irradiation than dry heating in terms of protein and starch molecular profile and nutrient availability in ruminants. 展开更多

This study investigates the microwave drying kinetics of thin layer Mabonde banana variety(MBV)at power levels between 100 and 300 W.Six mathematical drying models:Wang and Singh,Verma,Two-term,Page,Two term exponential,and Logarithmic models were fitted to experimental drying data obtained from the study.The statistical consistency of the models was determined using statistical parameters including coefficient of determination,mean bias error,root mean square error,and reduced Chi square.Moisture migration from banana slices was described using the Fick’s diffusion model.The effective diffusivity was calculated.The results indicated that drying took place largely in the falling rate period.The time required to reduce the moisture of banana to a certain level was dependent on the microwave output,being the longest at 100 W and shortest at 300 W.The effective moisture diffusivity increased with increasing microwave power with values at 4.89×10^(-10),1.09×10^(-9) and 1.69×10^(-9) m^(2)/s at 100,200,and 300 W,respectively.The Wang and Singh model gave the best results for the description of thin layer drying of MBV. 展开更多

Accurate source apportionment of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)in soil nearby petrochemical industries prevailing globally,is critical for preventing pollution.However,in the process,seasonal effect on contamination pathways and accumulation of soil VOCs is often neglected.Herein,Yanshan Refining-Chemical Integration Park,including a carpet,refining,synthetic rubber,and two synthetic resin zones,was selected for traceability.Season variations resulted in a gradual decrease of 31 VOCs in soil from winter to summer.A method of dry deposition resistance model coupling partitioning coefficient model was created,revealing that dry deposition by gas phase was the primary pathway for VOCs to enter soil in winter and spring,with 100 times higher fux than by particle phase.Source profiles for five zones were built by gas sampling with distinct substance indicators screened,which were used for positive matrix factorization factors determination.Contributions of the five zones were 14.9%,20.8%,13.6%,22.1%,and 28.6%in winter and 33.4%,12.5%,10.7%,24.9%,and 18.5%in spring,respectively.The variation in the soil sorption capacity of VOCs causes inter-seasonal differences in contribution.The better correlation between dry deposition capacity and soil storage of VOCs made root mean square and mean absolute errors decrease averagely by 8.8%and 5.5%in winter compared to spring.This study provides new perspectives and methods for the source apportionment of soil VOCs contamination in industrial sites. 展开更多
