The results show that there is REE compositional variation regularly in the ductile shear zone. When mica-quartz schist and migmatite are changing into mylonites or ultramylonites, i.e., along with intensifying deformation, the contents of each rare earth element and the total contents of the LREE, HREE and REE increase or decrease regularly, but the REE patterns of the rock are accordant. The isocon diagram of the tectonic rocks before and after deformation shows that the REE compositional variation of the mylonites or ultramylonites are very small, but there is a few REE moving in or out in the rock deformation. The reason of the REE compositional variation is that there are volume change and fluid flow in the rock deformation, and it leads to the LREE relative enrichment and HREE relative loss.展开更多

Based on the field structural analysis along with microstructural observation, at least five widespread episodes of ductile shear zone systems are identified by using geometric, kinematic and rheological indicators and they constitute a shear zone sequence in the UHP metamorphic province within the Dabie massif (DM), China. Each shear zone system, for example, the UHP eclogite facies shear zone system in the sequence, exhibits its own features including geometric styles, mineral assemblages, metamorphic pt conditions and deformation regimes during the formation of such shear zone system. Detailed macro and micro scopical features of different episodes of the shear zones are given with respect to mechanism of strain localization and deformation partitioning. The tectonic significance during the creation and exhumation of the UHP metamorphic rocks is evaluated briefly, as well. It is argued that the ductile shear zones in the UHP metamorphic province play an important role in the Dabie mountain building geodynamic process.展开更多

Altogether ten samples of the tectonites have been collected for this study. The paper is focused on a comprehensive study of the tectonites in the medium-lower horizons of the ductile shear zones. The mineral compositions of the rocks are analyzed with EPMA and some typical whole-rock samples analyzed by chemical and ICP methods. Based on the comprehensive study of the characteristics of the deformation, the mineral assemblages and the changes of chemical composition of the bulk rocks, this paper presents a discussion on the relationship between the volume loss, the fluid flow and compositional changes during mylonitization of the ductile shear zones in this region. Our study shows that there are a large amount of fluids flowing through the shear zones during the process of mylonization, accompanied by the loss of rock volume and migration of elements and components. Modelling calculation results under different saturation conditions of fluids show that the maximum volume loss of the tectonites is about 60% relative to their protolith, while the fluid/rock ratio ranges from 10 to 103 in different ductile shear zones.展开更多

Results indicate that, the rocks were formed in an alteration complex of medium temperature and pressure. The area was under intense polymetamorphism (ductile shearing, and hydrothermal metamorphism), which occurred along the deformation zone stretching from Jinzhou to Fuxin. The area bears some propylitic, phyllic (or sericitic) and argillic alteration styles. Gold minerals are contained in fine grained pyrite in silicified zones, and associated with metamorphosed Precambrian rocks. The host rock is composed of gneiss, mylonite and trondhjemite granite, and has a distinctive gold lead geochemical affinity.展开更多

The mylonites were formed in the brittle ductile transition zone at 10~15 km depth within the crust. The rocks had experienced multi period deformation processes, including ductile deformation, ductile instability and brittle seismic faulting which had gave rise to the formation of Koktokay Ertai fault zone and the development of pseudotachylytes. The pseudotachylytes are distributed within an area about 60 km in length and 300 m in width, which may represent the scale of the paleo earthquake source. The physical conditions of the paleo earthquake source was similar to those for the formation of the mylonites along this zone.展开更多

Comprehensive study of geometry, kinematics, quartz c-axis fabric, temperature-pressure conditions and geochronology were conducted in this study. The Jingdezhen shear zone extends -180 km along the NE orientation with two groups of subvertical fo- liation and subhorizontal lineation. One group of foliation strikes NEN orientation whereas another one NEE orientation. Field investigation, microscopic observation and quartz c-axis fabric show that sinistral shearing along NEN-striking foliation occurred earlier than dextral shearing along NEE-striking foliation. Syn-tectonic staurolite porphyroblasts and deformation manner of feldspar imply that sinistral shearing occurred at 530-420 ℃ and 6-2 kbar. Deformation manner and c-axis fabric of quartz and pre-tectonic staurolite porphyroblasts indicate that dextral shearing took place at 420-300 ℃. LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb and mica ^40Ar/^39Ar dating indicate that the sinistral shearing occurred during Neoproterozoic oro- geny (830-800 Ma) whereas the dextral shearing at 447+12 Ma. The sinistral shearing resulted from the Neoproterozoic final assembly between the Yangtze and Cathaysia blocks. The dextral shearing was caused by Early Paleozoic orogen parallel extension and clockwise rotation.展开更多

The results show that there is a large amount of fluids flowing through the shear zone during mylonitization, accompanied with the loss of volume of rocks and variations of elements and oxygen isotopes. The calculated temperature for mylonitization in different mylonites ranges from 446 to 484℃, corresponding to that of 475 to 500℃ for the wall rocks. The condition of differential stress during mylonization has been obtained between 99 and 210 MPa, whereas the differential stress in the wall rock gneiss is 70-78 MPa. The mylonites are enriched by factors of 1.32-1.87 in elements such as TiO2, P2O5, MnO, Y, Zr and V and depleted in SiO2, Na2O, K2O, Al203, Sr, Rb and light REEs compared to their protolith gneiss. The immobile element enrichments are attributed to enrichments in residual phases such as ilmentite, zircon, apatite and epidote in mylonites and are interpreted as due to volume losses from 15% to 60% in the ductile shear zone. The largest amount of SiO2 loss is 35.76 g/100 g in the ductile shear zone, which shows the fluid infiltration. Modeling calculated results of the fluid/rock ratio for the ductile shear zone range from 196 to 1192 by assuming different degrees of fluid saturation. Oxygen isotope changes of quartz and feldspar and the calculated fluid are corresponding to the variations of differential flow stress in the ductile shear zone. With increasing differential flow stress, the mylonites show a slight decrease of δ^18O in quartz, K-feldspar and fluid.展开更多

These inclusions formed possibly by local recrystallization of mica grains during regional prograde metamorphism, with some affected by top-to-SW shear leading to parallelogram shapes. Recrystallization may have been assisted by solution transfer along the cleavage planes of the host grains. The relative competency of deformed phyllosilicate inclusions with the same or different composition to the host depends on the size and orientation of(001) cleavage planes of the inclusions relative to the host. Shearing of mica inclusions led to their parallelogram geometries within the contained mica inclusions. Some of the sheared inclusions deflect cleavage planes in the host minerals and define flanking microstructures. Trapezoidshaped inclusions are a new finding that deserves more attention for their genesis. These structurally anisotropic inclusions did not originate from sub-grains, secondary infillings or retrogression. These inclusions are also not related to pseudomorphism, isomorphism, folding of the bulk rock etc. Some of the inclusions formed by recrystallization of the host mineral during top-to-SW ductile shear.展开更多

The blunt angle between the conjugated ductile shear zones ranges from 104° to 114°, indicating approximate 210° of the maximum principal stress. The plateau ages of muscovite ^40Ar/^39Ar obtained from the mylonitized rocks in the ductile shear zones of Jinshaxia-Hualong-Keque massif within the middle Qilian massif are (405.1±2.4) Ma and (418.3±2.8) Ma, respectively. The chronology data confirm the formation of ductile shear zones in the Caledonian basement metamorphic rocks during the Caledonian orogeny. Furthermore, on the basis of basement rock study, precise timing for the closing of the Late Paleozoic volcanic basin (or island-arc basin) and Lajishan ocean basin is determined. This provides us a new insight into the closing of ocean basin in the structural evolution of orogenic belt.展开更多

文摘Structural studies in the Dabie massif show that distribution of strain is extremely heterogeneous and illustrates the pattern of deformation partitioning in the ultra high pressure (UHP) metamorphic province on all scales. It is argued that the ductile shear zones in the UHP metamorphic province play an important role in the Dabie mountain building geodynamic process.

文摘On the basis of field geology, three typical ductile shear zones in the southern part of the Tancheng-Lujiang fault belt have been chosen for a detailed study. Modelling calculation results under different saturation conditions of fluids show that the maximum volume loss of the tectonites is about 60% relative to their protolith, while the fluid/rock ratio ranges from 10 to 103 in different ductile shear zones.

文摘Standard laboratory procedures and remote sensing techniques were employed in the characterization of gold bearing rocks of the Paishanlou area. The host rock is composed of gneiss, mylonite and trondhjemite granite, and has a distinctive gold lead geochemical affinity.

文摘The Ailao Shan-Red River fault zone is the boundary between the Yangtze block to the northeast and the Indochina block to the southwest. It is an important tectonic zone due to its role in the southeastward extrusion of the Indochina block during and subsequent to the Indian-Eurasian collision.Diancang Shan(DCS) high-grade metamorphic complex, located at the northwest extension along the Ailao Shan-Red River(ASRR) shear zone,is a representative metamorphic complex of the ASRR tectonic belt.Structural and microstructural analysis of sheared rocks in the high-grade metamorphic rocks reveals that they are coherent with solid-state high-temperature ductile deformation, which is attributed to left-lateral shearing along the ASRR shear zone.New LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb geochronological and microstructural studies of the post-kinematic granitic plutons provide a straightforward time constraint on the termination ductile left-lateral shearing and exhumation of the metamorphic massif in the ASRR shear zone.It is suggested that the left-lateral shearing along the ASRR shear zone ended at ca.21 Ma at relative lower-temperature or decreasing temperature conditions.During or after the emplacement of the young dikes at ca.21 Ma,rapid brittle deformation event occurred, which makes the DCS massif start fast uplift/exhumation and cooling to a shallow crustal level.
文摘The Koktokay Ertai fault zone was developed on the basis of a former ductile shear zone (mylonite zone). The physical conditions of the paleo earthquake source was similar to those for the formation of the mylonites along this zone.

文摘The Jingdezhen ductile shear zone is evolved from the Neoproterozoic Zhangyuan ophiolite melange belt in the eastern Jiangnan Orogen, South China. The dextral shearing was caused by Early Paleozoic orogen parallel extension and clockwise rotation.

文摘As the largest fault trending NNE-SSW to NE-SW in the eastern Eurasia Continent, the Tanlu fault zone(TLFZ)extends over 2,400 km within China, roughly from Wuxue,Hubei Province,to Russia.Since the Quaternary period, the TLFZ has been an earthquake-prone area in eastern China where several major earthquakes resulted by tectonic compression occurred, causing tremendous casualties and significant economic losses. Many studies on different segments of the TLFZ have been carried out in the past few decades. However, numerous key questions regarding the fault zone remain unanswered due to a lack of clear subsurface characterization and fault delineation. In this study,we present high-resolution tomographic results across the TLFZ to the east of Hefei, where one 22-km-long passive seismic array with densely spaced short-period nodes, and a 24-km-long magnetotelluric array were deployed adjacent to each other. We find the velocity and resistivity variations are highly consistent with known surface geology.Sharp property contrasts in both the seismic shear wave velocity and electrical resistivity profiles clearly delineate the Tanlu F1 fault(TLF-1)near Hefei.More interestingly,an upwelling with distinct high velocity is imaged within the Hefei Basin to the west of the TLF-1,whereas a slanted block with lowvelocity and low-resistivity seems to cut into or thrust upon the high-grade to low-grade middle-pressure rocks in the Zhangbaling uplift right below the Tanlu F2 ductile shear fault(TLF-2).The presented results show a new approach to characterize deep subsurface structure of the TLFZ beyond 2-km depths using passive data, which it is often difficult for active seismic surveys with refracted and reflected waves to image.

文摘This paper discusses the relationship between the volume loss, fluid flow and component variations in the ductile shear zone of the southern Tan-Lu fault belt. With increasing differential flow stress, the mylonites show a slight decrease of δ^18O in quartz, K-feldspar and fluid.

文摘Biotite and muscovite inclusions inside mica host minerals from the Sutlej section of the Higher Himalayan Crystalline were studied under an optical microscope. Some of the inclusions formed by recrystallization of the host mineral during top-to-SW ductile shear.

文摘The middle Qilian orogenic belt and Lajishan orogenic belt, both of which were formed in the Caledonian, strike NW-SE direction across southeast Qilian Mountains and their basement consists of pre-Caledonian metamorphic rocks with lozenge-shaped ductile shear zones in the crystalline basement. This provides us a new insight into the closing of ocean basin in the structural evolution of orogenic belt.
