However, the exact mechanism of sleep deprivation and how it affects the dynamics of brain activity during the recovery sleep remains unclear. In the current study, we performed sleep deprivation experiments on ten adult rats, and recorded the local field potentials from default mode network(DMN) regions during sleep before and after sleep deprivation. The DMN dynamics was assessed with the configurations of coactive micropatterns(CAMPs) using our previously proposed CAMP method. Our analysis revealed that the effects of sleep deprivation on DMN dynamics in the slow-wave sleep(SWS) state and the rapid eye-movement sleep(REM)state were disparate. Dynamic configurations of DMN activity in the SWS state were significantly impaired after sleep deprivation, with increased occurrence of low-activity CAMP and reorganized transition structure across three CAMPs. Moreover, enhanced functional connectivity and improved efficiencies in all CAMP networks were observed during the SWS state in the recovery sleep. However, there were no significant alterations in either DMN dynamics or CAMP network structures in the REM sleep state after sleep deprivation. Our results described the alterations of DMN dynamics in different sleep states after sleep deprivation, and illustrated the differential effects of sleep deprivation on two sleep states. These findings demonstrated the underlying neural mechanisms of the effects of sleep deprivation on DMN activity during sleep and increased our understanding of the physiological roles of the DMN in maintain sleep homeostasis after sleep deprivation.展开更多

Several regular patterns of spatial motion of towed flexible cables in water are obtained through numerical simulation with the finite difference method, and then modification and verification by trial results at sea. A technical support is provided for the towing ship to maneuver properly when a flexible cable is towed. Furthermore, the relations between two towed flexible cables, which are towed simultaneously by a ship, are investigated. The results show that the ship towing two flexible cables is safe under the suggested arrangement of two winches for the towing system, and the coiling/uncoiling sequences of the cables as well as the suggested way of maneuvering.展开更多

We present the Component-Based Communication Protocol Architecture (CCPA) to make communication dynamic and configurable. It can develop, test and store the customized components for flexible reuse. The protocols are implemented by component assembly and support by configurable environments. This leads to smaller memory, more flexibility, more reconfiguration ability, better concurrency, and multiple data channel support.展开更多

The method begins with the construction of an undirected graph for the given airspace, where the vertices represent those key points such as airports, waypoints, and the edges represent those air routes. Those vertices are used as the sites of Voronoi diagram, which divides the airspace into units called as cells. Then, aircraft counts of both each cell and of each air-route are computed. Thus, by assigning both the vertices and the edges with those aircraft counts, a weighted graph model comes into being. Accordingly the airspace configuration problem is described as a weighted graph partitioning problem. Then, the problem is solved by a graph partitioning algorithm, which is a mixture of general weighted graph cuts algorithm, an optimal dynamic load balancing algorithm and a heuristic algorithm. After the cuts algorithm partitions the model into sub-graphs, the load balancing algorithm together with the heuristic algorithm transfers aircraft counts to balance workload among sub-graphs. Lastly, airspace configuration is completed by determining the sector boundaries. The simulation result shows that the designed sectors satisfy not only workload balancing condition, but also the constraints such as convexity, connectivity, as well as minimum distance constraint.展开更多

Nowadays, several projects are launched, aimed at modernizing the global air transportation system and air traffic management. In recent years, special interest has been paid to the solution of the dynamic airspace configuration problem. Airspace sector configurations need to be dynamically adjusted to provide maximum efficiency and flexibility in response to changing weather and traffic conditions. The main objective of this work is to automatically adapt the airspace configurations ac- cording to the evolution of traffic. In order to reach this objective, the airspace is considered to be divided into predefined 3D airspace blocks which have to be grouped or ungrouped depending on the traffic situation. The airspace structure is represented as a graph and each airspace configuration is created using a graph partitioning technique. We optimize airspace configurations using a genetic algorithm. The developed algorithm generates a sequence of sector configurations for one day of operation with the minimized controller workload. The overall methodology is implemented and successfully tested with air traffic data taken for one day and for several different airspace control areas of Europe.展开更多

Useful information is extracted from the historical data to estimate the model forecast errors. Dominant predictors and the predictors that exhibit evolving analogues are identified through cross validating the anomaly correlation coefficients (ACC) among single predictors, meanwhile with reference of the results from the dynamic analogue bias correction using four analogue samples. Next, an optimal configuration of multiple predictors is set up and compared with historical optimal multi-predictor configurations and then dynamically adjusted. Finally, the model errors are evaluated and utilized to correct the NCC operational seasonal prediction model results, and the forecast of monsoon precipitation is obtained at last. The independent sample validation shows that this technique has effectively improved the monsoon precipitation prediction skill during 2005 -2009. This study demonstrates that the analogue-dynamical approach is feasible in operational prediction of monsoon precipitation.展开更多
