A Study on the improvement strategies to Effectiveness of Online Teaching and Learning in EFL Classes in College

English online learning has been common trend in the world, how to teach and learn effectively in EFL classes through online environment is an urgent study. On the effects of contextualized explanation and Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve on the teaching and learning of English vocabulary

This paper reports the outcomes of three vocabulary tests taken by 71 second-year undergraduates, discusses the possible effects of contextualized explanation of new words and Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve on the vocabulary teaching and learning. The authors find that in a short duration there is a significant difference between the effect of bilingual （English ＆ Chinese） explanation and that of monolingual （Chinese） explanation on the students＇ recognition of English new words.

The Application of Blended Learning Approach in EFL Teaching

Blended learning(BL)has been recognized as one of the most promising directions in education development in the modern world as it combines the strengths of traditional educational methods and benefits of online learning technologies.This paper starts with an exploration of BL as a concept,models and its application in language teaching and then probe into the effectiveness of BL approach in English as Foreign Language(EFL)Teaching especially to boost students speaking and listening competence,via a comparative study.With 50 in control group taught through traditional face-to-face instructions and 58 in experiment group through BL method,108 students are involved to find out that BL is conducive to promote students’motivation,self-study as well as activity and also to enhance their speaking and listening skills.

Multi-perspective Approaches of Vocabulary Teaching and Learning

It is universally acknowledged that vocabulary is an essential component in language system. Nevertheless, in English teaching practice, imparting grammatical knowledge is highly emphasized but the vocabulary teaching is given little attention.In second language acquisition, proper application of vocabulary in communication is one of the important and difficult points for students. The paper aims to discuss the current problems in vocabulary teaching and learning, advocate a multi-perspective approach in teaching vocabulary so as to enhance the accuracy and fluency of language output, promote students' pragmatic and cross-cultural communicative competence and lay a solid foundation for their life-long learning.

An Investigation into the Vocabulary Learning Strategies of Chinese EFL Learners of High,Average,and Low Proficiency Levels

The current research aims to find out the different beliefs held and different vocabulary strategies employed by nonEnglish majors of different proficiency levels. The data were collected through questionnaire and vocabulary tests. Results revealed that the learners at three levels all adopted wide-ranged strategies. But the high level students had greater vocabulary size and were more believed that words should be learnt through use, and they used more extended dictionary strategies, contextual guessing and note-taking strategies. It is encouraging that teachers should integrate explicit strategy instruction into classroom to help low level students achieve better learning results.

Autonomous and Incidental Learning of Vocabulary Through Task-based Language Teaching

This study mainly discussed the effects of three tasks of translating authentic business report on L2 vocabulary learning.160 students were chosen from different majors by a pre-task proficiency test.The findings revealed that task 3 was the optimum task in vo-cabulary gain and direct vocabulary learning had a more facilitated power than incidental vocabulary learning in this translation task forthe learners with the lowest level of vocabulary.This study also suggested that the caution of need and evaluation needed to be adjustedand paid for the learners with the lowest vocabulary level.

An Examination on the Problems Existing in the Teaching and Learning of Oral English

The published studies on the issues in the teaching and leaming of ESL （English as a Second Language）/EFL （English as a Foreign Language） oral English shed lights on many of the unresolved problems in ESL/EFL teaching and learning. Preparing EFL Learners for Native English-Speaking Context Through Vocabulary Learning： Two Chinese Cases in New Zealand

While numerous studies in English as a second/foreign language （EFL） have examined vocabulary learning and teaching in the perspective of theories and practical tips, there is a paucity of research on the impact of high-frequency words learning on preparing new EFL residents for the life in English-speaking countries. In order to fill this gap, this study draws on the experience of two EFL learners in New Zealand （NZ）, so as to explore the effectiveness of a 16-week daily-English-focused vocabulary learning program, which might generate useful implications about the effective adaption of new EFL residents to their target countries.

The difficulty of learning English is not only related to interest,but also related to the correctness of learning methods.Especially in English teaching,a comprehensive and in-depth mastery of vocabulary can improve the level of English language,learn English knowledge better,and improve the level of cross-cultural communication.The application of corpus in English classroom vocabulary teaching can provide more educational space for vocabulary teaching,enrich teaching methods,and at the same time,facilitate students to learn vocabulary and lay a foundation for learning English language.To this end,this article first describes the important role of corpus application in vocabulary learning in English classroom teaching.Secondly,it discusses the difficulties of vocabulary learning and the factors that affect the quality of learning.Finally,in order to enhance the learning effect of students and improve the teaching level,several learning strategies have been formulated to continuously highlight the practicality of the corpus.
