The structure features were characterized by micrograph, X-ray fluorescence spectrum, X-ray diffraction spectrum, Fourier transform infrared spectrum and differential thermal analysis. Tests indicate that rare earths modify the electrorheological effects of the stable suspensions composed of samples stirred with silicon oil.展开更多

A kind of suspensions with notable ER effect was produced by fully mixing the prepared microcapsule with silicon oil. Meanwhile a series of PMMA wrapped alumina-siloxane gel doped with rare earths was obtained and its ER effect was tested, like viscosity of different rare earth ion doped samples in different powder concentrations and at different temperatures, at the same time, leak current density and dielectric constant were measured. Results show that the ER effect of this suspension is remarkable, and its stability is much better. The condition of emulsion polymerization and the mechanism of effect are discussed.展开更多

Methods: Cell cycle distribution and apoptosis induction were analyzed by using flow cytometry when breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 were cotreated with daidzein (1, 5 μmol/L) and E2 (0.1-10 nmol/L) for 5 days. Whether daidzein could alter E2-modulated mRNA expression of estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), estrogen receptor beta (ERI3) and ERβ-estrogen response element (ERE) dependent transcription was investigated by RT-PCR and luciferase induction assays. The effects of daidzein on E2-modulated expression of proapoptotic p53, bax and antiapoptotic bcl-2 at both mRNA and protein levels were also investigated by RT-PCR and Western blot. Results: Daidzein enhanced the antiapoptotic effect in an Ea dose-dependent manner, but had no effect on E2-induced proliferation. Daidzein antagonized E2-induced ERβ mRNA expression and ERβ-ERE dependent transcription. In addition, daidzein only antagonized E2-upregulated expression of p53 and bax, but had no effect on E2-upregulated expression of bcl-2. Conclusion: Daidzein enhances the antiapoptotic effect of E2 on breast cancer cells by inhibiting E2-mediated p53-bax proapoptotic pathway. These results suggest that dietary daidzein may enhance deleterious effect of endogenous E2 in hormone-dependent breast cancer.展开更多

The results indicate that the resonance ground states may be derived from the Kramers doublet Γ6. The EPR g-factors may be ascribed to the stronger covalent bonding and nephelauxetic effects compared with other rare-earth doped complexes, as a result of the mismatch of ionic radii of the impurity Er(3+)ion and the replaced Ga(3+) ion apart from the intrinsic covalency of host Ga N. Furthermore, the J–J mixing effects on the EPR parameters from the high-lying manifolds have been evaluated. It is found that the dominant J–J mixing contribution is from the manifold 2K(15/2), which accounts for about 2.5%. The next important J–J contribution arises from the crystal–field mixture between the ground state 4I(15/2) and the first excited state4I(13/2), and is usually less than 0.2%. The contributions from the rest states may be ignored.展开更多

Introduced as a new technique to suppress surface leakage conduction on Si(001),a silver wetting layer is evaporated onto the substrate surface kept at room temperature with Er Si2 nanoislands already existing. The effects of the silver layer on the current-voltage characteristics of nanocontacts are discussed. Our experimental results reveal that the silver layer at coverage of 0.4–0.7 monolayer can suppress effectively the current contribution from the surface conduction path. After the surface leakage path of nanocontacts is obstructed, the ideality factor and the Schottky barrier height are determined using the thermionic emission theory, about 2 and 0.5 eV, respectively. The approach adopted here could shed light on the intrinsic transport properties of metal-semiconductor nanocontacts.展开更多

The PAn-BaTiO3 composites particles were characterized with TEM and XRD. The dielectric behavior of particles was tested and the electrorhcologicak(ER) behavior of the suspensions of PAn/ BaTiO3 panicles in chlorinated paraffin oil with a 20vol % was investigated under DC electric field. The results show that the ER effect of composite particle is far stronger than that of pure polyaniline and barium titanate which mere synthesized by the stone method. pH and thickness of BuTiO3 have an important. influence on the ER effects.展开更多
