Ear Acupuncture Therapy for 37 Cases of Dysmenorrhea Due to Endometriosis

Endometriosis (EMT) is one of the difficult and complicated cases in gynecology, and its incidence shows a tendency to go up year by year. It is mainly manifested in clinic as dysmenorrhea, acyesis, irregular menstruation and pelvic lumps. Dysmenorrhea is the most characteristic symptom of endometriosis and its relief has important significance in the treatment of the disease. Certain hormonal drugs, such as danazol and gestrinone, exhibit convincing therapeutic effects but with obvious adverse actions. Operative therapy has also some limitations. Since 1997, the disorder has been treated by our special department for endometriosis with ear acupuncture therapy. Meanwhile, a group of patients were treated as controls with the decoction of traditional Chinese drugs for activating blood circulation and removing stasis. The results are reported as follows.……

Ear Acupuncture for Perimenopause Syndrome:A Multi-centered Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective： To observe and evaluate the clinical effect of ear acupuncture in treating perimenopause syndrome. Methods： A multi-centered randomized controlled trial was conducted and the enrolled participants were divided into an ear acupuncture group and a control group. The ear acupuncture group was treated by electroacupuncture at auricular points, and the control one was prescribed for Geng Nian An （Menopause Helper） tablets. The therapeutic effects were evaluated after 10-day treatments. Results： For pre-menopausal patients, the total effective rate was 96.8% in the ear acupuncture group, versus 56.3% in the control. For post-menopausal patients, the total effective rate was 85.7% in the ear acupuncture group, versus 53.0% in the control. Conclusion： Both ear acupuncture and Geng Nian An （Menopause Helper） tablets were effective in ameliorating symptoms of perimenopause syndrome, with satisfactory compliance and safety. The clinical effect of ear acupuncture is better than that of Geng Nian An （Menopause Helper） tablets.

Ear Acupuncture Anesthesia for In Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer Egg Retrieval

Objective：To observe the anesthesia effect of ear acupuncture for in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer （IVF-ET） egg retrieval.Method：All of 160 IVF-ET cases were allocated into a treatment group （120 cases） and a control group （40 cases）.Ear acupuncture and Pethidine Hydrochloride （Dolantin） were employed respectively to alleviate pain.After that,the anesthesia effects in two groups were compared.Results：There were no significant differences in anesthesia effect and retrieved eggs between the treatment group and the control group （P〉0.05）.Conclusion：Ear acupuncture can obtain similar effects as Pethidine Hydrochloride;however,it is safer and more effective.

Clinical Study on the Treatment of Renal Colic by Body and Auricular Acupuncture

Objective： To evaluate the clinical effects of combined acupuncture and ear-puncture in treating renal colic. Methods： Sixty subjects were randomized into an acupuncture group and a medication group, 30 in each, to receive acupuncture and Western medicine respectively. The analgesic effects and pain relief time were measured in both groups. Results： Both of the two groups got pain relieved or reduced. The total effective rate was 89.7% in the acupuncture group, significantly superior to 77.4% in the medication group （P〈0.05）. Conclusion： Combined body and auricular acupuncture is efficient in relieving pain in treating renal colic, and its effective rate was higher compared with medication treatment.

Status and strategies analysis on international standardization of auricular acupuncture points

OBJECTIVE： To supply literature for developing an international standard of auricular acupuncture points. METHODS： Electronic database searches were con- ducted in the Chinese National Knowledge Infra- structure and VlP, and the Western databases, Pubmed, the National Science and Technology Li- brary, and the German Journal of Acupuncture, from 1990 to April, 2012. We also searched the doc- uments of international symposiums for auricular acupuncture points （AAPs）. Keywords were ＂auricu- lar points＂, ＂auricular acupuncture points＂, ＂ear points＂, or ＂auriculotherapy＂ RESULTS： Basic and clinical research on AAPs was performed in China, the United States, France, andGermany. Clinical AAP research was done in Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, the UK, Holland, Japan, Russia, and Africa. However, AAP research was not communicated internationally. The World Federa- tion of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies recom- mended international standard of auricular acu- puncture points （ISAAPs）. Standardized nomencla- ture and locations of AAPs would provide a solid basis to draft an international standard organiza- tion. CONCLUSION： Experts need to find common points from different countries or regions, provide evidence of different ideas, and list the proposal as a recommendation for an international standard.

Clinical Observation of Auricular Bloodletting Therapy for Chloasma in 30 Cases

Objective： To observe the clinical efficacy of auricular bloodletting therapy in the treatment of chloasma. Methods： Thirty cases of chloasma were treated by auricular bloodletting therapy. Results： Eight cases obtained basic cure, 10 cases marked improvement and 8 cases improvement; the total effective rate was 86.7%. Conclusion： Auricular bloodletting therapy is quite effective for chloasma, with no side effects.

Auricular Stimulation and Anti-aging

Objective： To seek a simple and safe anti-aging healthcare method by analyzing the anti-aging effect in the auricular stimulation. Methods： By analyzing the literature and reports on auricular stimulation and anti-aging, the relationship between aging and ear, methods of auricular stimulation for anti-aging, clinical application and mechanism study are explored. Results and Conclusion： In auricular stimulation, usually the ear points of corresponding five Zang organs, such as Heart （MA-IC）, Liver （MA-SC 5）, Spleen （MA-IC）, Lung （MA-IC 1）, Kidney （MA-SC）, Subcortex （MA-AT l） and Endocrine （MA-IC 3） are selected. Auricular stimulation, ear point-embedding method and ear point-massaging method in particular, is a simple, effective and non-traumatic healthcare and therapeutic method and should display great effect in anti-aging.
