Clinical Observation on the Treatment of Insomnia in Germany with Deficiency of Heart and Spleen by the Ear Bean Therapy

Objective: To observe the effect of insomnia patients with deficiency of heart and spleen in Germany by the therapy of ear points pressing with bean. Methods: A total of 80 cases of insomnia with deficiency of heart and spleen in Germany were divided into the observation group and the control group, with 40 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were treated with oral modified Guipi Decoction(归脾汤), while the patients in the observation group were treated with oral traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and the therapy of ear points pressing with bean. The efficacy, sleep quality, the TCM syndromes score and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The effective rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and there was statistical difference between the two group(P<0.05). After treatment, the Pittsburgh sleep quality index scale(PSQI) score, insomnia severity index(ISI) score and the TCM syndromes score in the two groups were decreased sharply(P<0.01), and those scores in the observation group were lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). There was no adverse reaction between the two groups. Conclusion: The therapy of ear points pressing with bean is effective on insomnia in Germany, which is worth further study and promotion.

Effect of electroacupuncture at ear and body acupoints on the instant fasting blood glucose level of machins with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture at ear and body acupoints for the instant fasting blood glucose of model machins with type 2 diabetes mellitus（T2DM）.Methods For 10 machins with type2 diabetes,the electroacupuncture was applied at ＂Zusanli＂（足三里 ST 36）,＂Sanyinjiao＂（三阴交 SP 6） and three ＂Jiangtangdian＂（降糖点） in the ear continuously for 5 days,with the frequency of 2/15 Hz（The 2 Hz and the 15 Hz were transferred every second） and current of2 mA.The treatment was given once every day for 30 min.The fasting blood glucose was measured before acupuncture,after acupuncture for15 min and 30 min in the 5 days.Results On the first day,after 30-minute acupuncture the fasting blood glucose was reduced obviously compared with that before treatment（P〈0.01）.On the third and the fifth days,after acupuncture for 15 min and 30 min the fasting blood glucose was apparently lower than that before acupuncture（all P〈0.05）.On the fourth day,after acupuncture for 30 min the fasting blood glucose was decreased markedly than that before acupuncture（P〈0.05）.After 30-minute acupuncture on the fifth day,the fasting blood glucose was lower obviously than that before treatment on the first day（P〈0.05）.Conclusion ①The electroacupuncture at ear and body acupoints can reduce the instant fasting blood glucose of T2 DM machins apparently.② There is time effect on instant fasting blood glucose of T2 DM machins treated by electroacupuncture.The efficacy of 30-minute stimulation is superior to that of 15-minute acupuncture.After acupuncture continuously for 4 days,the effect is better than that with acupuncture for3 days successively.

A Review on Treating Postoperative Perianal Abscess by the TCM External Therapy

Perianal abscess is a common clinical disease.This disease progresses rapidly.Surgical treatment is the main clinical treatment.Postoperative pain,bleeding,and excessive exudate are often accompanied by slow postoperative wound healing due to special anatomic site.The external treatment of traditional Chinese medicine has various treatment methods for perianal abscess after operation,and the results are quite effective.The treatment experience of various doctors in the past five years was summarized as follows.

Acupuncture combined with ear point embedding for sleep disorder in depression

Objective To investigate clinical therapeutic effects of acupuncture combined with ear point embedding for treating sleep disorder in depression. Methods Seventy-six patients suffering from sleep disorder in depression were randomly divided into an observation group （39 cases） and a control group （37 cases）. In observation group, acupuncture at Baihui （百会 GV 20）, Shangxing （上星 GV 23）, Shenting （神庭 GV 24）, Fengchi （风池 GB 20） and Shenmen （神门 HT 7）, etc., which was combined with ear point embedding, and in control group, Fluoxetine Hydrochloride Dispersible tablet （Prozac） was orally given. Four weeks of treatments were given as a therapeutic course in both groups. Comparison of changes in scores of HAMD and PSQI was made between the two groups. Results After treatment, HAMD scores were obviously lowered in both groups （both P〈0.01）, and the reduction in HAMD score was more obvious in observation group than that in control group （P〈0.05）. After treatment, the reduction in PSQI score was more obvious in observation group （P〈0.01）, it was more significantly decreased than that in control group. Conclusion Acupuncture combined with ear point embedding provids remarkable therapeutic effects in treating sleep disorder in depression, which is superior to those provided by Fluoxetine Hydrochloride Dispersible Fablet orally given.

Acupuncture combined with ear point taping and pressing for sleep disturbance in 30 children with mental retardation

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with ear point taping and pressing on sleep disturbance of the children with mental retardation. Method Thirty children of mental retardation with sleep disturbance were treated with acupuncture combined with ear point taping and pressing therapy, Sìshénzhēn （四神针）, Nǎosānzhēn （脑三针）, Zhìsānzhēn （智三针）, Nièsānzhēn （颞三针）, Shǒuzhìzhēn （手智针） were selected as main acupoints, and adjunct points were used according to symptoms and syndrome differentiation. For ear point taping and pressing, ěrshénmén （耳神门 MA-TF1）, Pízhìxià （皮质下 MA–AT1）, Jiāogǎn （交感 MA-AH7）, Xīn （心, heart）, Shèn （肾 kidney）, Pí （脾 spleen） were selected. The treatment was given two therapeutic courses, thrice each week, 36 sessions constituted one course. Child Sleep Habit Questionnaire （CSHQ） scale was used for assessment of sleep state before and after the treatment. Results After the treatment, among the 30 cases, 11 cases were markedly effective, 16 cases were effective and 3 cases were failed, the total effective rate was 90.0%; after the treatment, the children had significant improvement in the total time of sleep, the time of going to bed for sleep, sleep habit, sleep behavior, awaking state at night, getting-up state in the morning, sleep state in the daytime and the total score （P0.01, P0.001）. Conclusion Acupuncture combined with ear point taping and pressing therapy has a positive therapeutic effect on sleep disturbance and increases sleep quality in varying degrees in children with mental retardation.
