The Computer Tomography(CT)method is used for remote sensing the Earth’s plasmasphere.One challenge for image reconstruction is insufficient projection data,mainly caused by limited projection angles.In this study,we apply the Algebraic Reconstruction Technique(ART)and the minimization of the image Total Variation(TV)method,with a combination of priori knowledge of north–south symmetry,to reconstruct plasmaspheric He+density from simulated EUV images.The results demonstrate that incorporating priori assumption can be particularly useful when the projection data is insufficient.This method has good performance even with a projection angle of less than 150 degrees.The method of our study is expected to have applications in the Soft X-ray Imager(SXI)reconstruction for the Solar wind–Magnetosphere–Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)mission. 展开更多

Earth's Free Toroidal Oscillations Observed by the JCZ-1 Seismometer

We firstly detected the Earth's free toroidal oscillations excited by three large earthquakes in Japan,2011,Chile,2010 and Indonesia,2005 from the observed data of the JCZ-1 seismometer at Wuhan Seismic Station. The eigenperiods of basic modes (0T2 - 0T67 ) and first modes (1T2 ~ 1T50 ) were detected,and their error ratios were less than 0. 5% by comparing the observed eigenvalues with the theoretical eigenvalues in PREM. We supplemented some modes- 0T11,0T15 , 0T19 , 1T4 , 1T5 and 1T14 ,which were not mentioned in PREM,and also observed the spectral line multi-peak phenomenon from 0T2, 0T6 , 0T7 and 0T8 . These results show that the JCZ-1 seismometer is able to precisely observe the Earth's long period toroidal free oscillations. 展开更多

Earth's density flattening and hypothesis of latitudinal normal density

In this paper, the definition of latitudinal density and density flattening of the level ellipsoid is given, and integral formulas of latitudinal density for pole gravity and equator gravity are derived. According to the pole gravity condition and equator gravity condition for the level ellipsoid, latitudinal density distribution function of the level ellipsoid is obtained. It is proved mathematically that latitudinal density of the earth's equator is larger than that of the pole, the earth's density flat-tening calculated preliminarily is 1/322, and hypothesis of the earth's latitudinal normal density is further proposed, so that theoretical preparation for studying the forming cause of the earth gravity in problems such as continent drift, mantle convection, and submarine extension is made well. 展开更多

Samarium(Sm) has been widely used in making aluminum(Al)-Sm magnet alloy materials. The research team for this study developed a molten salt electrolyte system which directly produces AI-Sm alloy to replace the energy intensive conventional distillation technology. In this study, molten melt density was measured and operation conditions were optimized to separate AI-Sm alloy product from the fluoride molten melt electrolysis media based on density differences, Archimedes' principle was applied to measure density for the basic molten fluoride system(BMFS: Na_3 AlF_6-AlF_3-LiF-MgF_2)electrolysis media in the temperature range from 905 to 1055 ℃.The impact of temperature(t) and the Al_2O_3 and Sm_2O_3 addition ratio(w_((Al2O3)),w_((Sm2O3)) in the basic fluoride system on molten melt density was examined. The fluoride molten melt density relationship was determined to be:ρ=3.11701-0.00802 w_((Al2O3))+0.027825 w_((Sm2O3))-0.00117 t. The test results showed that molten density decreases with increase in temperature and Al_2O_3 addition ratio, and increases with the addition of Sm_2O_3, and/or Al_2O_3+Sm_2O_3. The separation of Al-Sm(density 2.3 g/cm^3) product melt from the BMFS melt is achieved by controlling the BMFS density to less than 2.0 g/cm3. It is concluded that the optimal operation conditions to control the BMFS molten salt density to less than 2.0 g/cm^3 are:maintain addition of Al_2O_3+Sm_2 O_3(w_((Al2O3))+w_((Sm2O3))〈9% of Na_3AlF_6,Al_2O_3/Sm_2O_3 ratio(w_((Al2O3)):w_((Sm2O3)))〉 7:3, and temperature between 965 and 995 ℃. 展开更多

Preparation and characterization of LSO-SDC composite electrolytes

The properties of LSO-SDC composite electrolytes prepared by the mixed powder with different LSO/SDC mass ratios were studied. The apatite-type lanthanum silicates La10Si6O27(LSO) and Sm0.2Ce0.8O1.9(SDC) were synthesized via sol-gel process and glycine-nitrate process(GNP), respectively. The phase structure, microstructure, relative density, thermal expansion properties and oxygen ion conductivity of the samples were investigated by means of techniques such as X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), Archimedes method, dilatometer, and AC impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that SDC addition to the samples could enhance the density of the samples. However, the LSO-SDC composite electrolyte sintered at 1550 oC was over sintering when the SDC content was 50 wt.%. At the lower content of SDC(0–10 wt.%), the decrease of conductivity was predominantly attributed to the reducing concentration of carriers. However, the conductivities of the composite electrolytes increased with the increasing SDC content(10 wt.%–40 wt.%) because of the enhanced percolation of highly conductive SDC component in the microstructure of composite electrolytes. In addition,the dependence of conductivity on p(O2) showed that LSO-SDC composite electrolytes were stable in the examined range of p(O2). 展开更多
