The situation of ecosystem, the schematic framework of eco-security design, the main acts of ecosystem improvement, major difficulties and challenges have also been analyzed. The purpose of this study was to formulate the systematic framework of eco-security maintenance, to highlight systematic idea or philosophy of ecological rehabilitation and eco-security. A three-dimensional schematic model is applied to design the security of ecosystem. It was concluded that: 1) maintaining ecological security requires far better and sophisticated resource management skill and ecological improvement measures, and is also a continuing and multifac-eted task. It cannot be permanently accomplished by a single action and program; 2) at present, technical system and policy and law system dimensions of ecological security are not enough even in short; 3) development of ecological industries is beneficial to local economic development and ecosystem protection.展开更多

The de-mand for more safe environmentally benign products is rising and many companies are looking for new ways to progressively improve the sus-tainability of their products. Moreover, there are numerous opportunities and countless innovations, technological as well as non-technologi-cal,that need to be exploited to improve the sustainability of products. Manufacturing industry is an important sector of any economy and hasthe potential to become a driving force for enabling sustainable patterns of production and consumption through introducing efficient productionpractices and developing products and services that help reduce environmental impacts. The benefits of adopting an integrated policy towardsproduct development based on life cycle thinking and eco-design to stimulate improvement of the environmental performance of each part ofproduct life cycle phases and achieve sustainable patterns of production and consumption are emphasized. The challenges in implementingsustainable manufacturing and the circular economy approaches are listed. This estimation is based on two ...The authors of this paper propose a practical way to assess the environmental and financial costs of the performance of a real engineering activity for the case of a dwelling/building. This estimation is based on two indicators: Energy consumption during the Life Cycle of the building, EcLC and Equivalent Uniform Annual Cost, EUAC, related in various ways within the Building Life Cycle. The first indicator is determined by the Material Selection Method (CES Eco-Selector Software). While second indicator, EUAC, is determined by means of the Method of Life Cycle Cost. Consideration of these indicators from the conceptual phase of the object (dwelling), minimizes the costs of implementation and usage of the dwelling while respecting the principles of environment sustainable development. A dwelling as a product may have an environmental label, containing these two environmental and financial indicators, determined to take into account the entire life cycle. Results confirm the validity of some of the most innovative technologies currently applied in buildings and support our proposal on their energy label change.展开更多
