In this paper, we present a new method for reducing seismic noise while preserving structural and stratigraphic discontinuities. Structure-oriented edge-preserving smoothing requires information such as the local orientation and edge of the reflections. The information is usually estimated from seismic data with full frequency bandwidth. When the data has a very low signal to noise ratio (SNR), the noise usually reduces the estimation accuracy. For seismic data with extremely low SNR, the dominant frequency has higher SNR than other frequencies, so it can provide orientation and edge information more reliably than other frequencies. Orientation and edge are usually described in terms of apparent reflection dips and coherence differences, respectively. When frequency changes, both dip and coherence difference change more slowly than the seismogram itself. For this reason, dip and coherence estimated from dominant frequency data can approximately represent those of other frequency data. Ricker wavelet are widely used in seismic modeling. The Marr wavelet has the same shape as Ricker wavelets in both time and frequency domains, so the Marr wavelet transform is selected to divide seismic data into several frequency bands. Reflection apparent dip as well as the edge information can be obtained by scanning the dominant frequency data. This information can be used to selectively smooth the frequency bands (dominant, low, and high frequencies) separately by structure-oriented edge-preserving smoothing technology. The ultimate noise-suppressed seismic data is the combination of the smoothed frequency band data. Application to synthetic and real data shows the method can effectively reduce noise, preserve edges, improve trackable reflection continuity, and maintain useful information in seismic data. 展开更多

Hyperspectral images in remote sensing include hundreds of spectral bands that provide valuable information for accurately identify objects. In this paper,a new method of classifying hyperspectral images using spectral spatial information has been presented. Here, using the hyperspectral signal subspace identification(HYSIME)method which estimates the signal and noise correlation matrix and selects a subset of eigenvalues for the best representation of the signal subspace in order to minimize the mean square error, subsets from the main sample space have been extracted. After subspace extraction with the help of the HYSIME method, the edge-preserving filtering(EPF),and classification of the hyperspectral subspace using a support vector machine(SVM),results were then merged into the decision-making level using majority rule to create the spectral-spatial classifier. The simulation results showed that the spectral-spatial classifier presented leads to significant improvement in the accuracy and validity of the classification of Indiana,Pavia and Salinas hyperspectral images, such that it can classify these images with 98.79%,98.88% and 97.31% accuracy, respectively. 展开更多

Recent years have witnessed the emergence of image decomposition techniques which effectively separate an image into a piecewise smooth base layer and several residual detail layers. However, the intricacy of detail patterns in some cases may result in side-effects including remnant textures, wronglysmoothed edges, and distorted appearance. We introduce a new way to construct an edge-preserving image decomposition with properties of detail smoothing, edge retention, and shape fitting. Our method has three main steps: suppressing highcontrast details via a windowed variation similarity measure, detecting salient edges to produce an edgeguided image, and fitting the original shape using a weighted least squares framework. Experimental results indicate that the proposed approach can appropriately smooth non-edge regions even when textures and structures are similar in scale. The effectiveness of our approach is demonstrated in the contexts of detail manipulation, HDR tone mapping, and image abstraction. 展开更多

Signal and image restoration problems are often solved by minimizing a cost function consisting of an l2 data-fidelity term and a regularization term. We consider a class of convex and edge-preserving regularization functions. In specific, half-quadratic regularization as a fixed-point iteration method is usually employed to solve this problem. The main aim of this paper is to solve the above-described signal and image restoration problems with the half-quadratic regularization technique by making use of the Newton method. At each iteration of the Newton method, the Newton equation is a structured system of linear equations of a symmetric positive definite coefficient matrix, and may be efficiently solved by the preconditioned conjugate gradient method accelerated with the modified block SSOR preconditioner. Our experimental results show that the modified block-SSOR preconditioned conjugate gradient method is feasible and effective for further improving the numerical performance of the half-quadratic regularization approach. 展开更多

The conventional poststack inversion uses standard recursion formulas to obtain impedance in a single trace. It cannot allow for lateral regularization. In this paper,ID edge-preserving smoothing(EPS)fi lter is extended to 2D/3D for setting precondition of impedance model in impedance inversion. The EPS filter incorporates a priori knowledge into the seismic inversion. The a priori knowledge incorporated from EPS filter preconditioning relates to the blocky features of the impedance model, which makes the formation interfaces and geological edges precise and keeps the inversion procedure robust. Then, the proposed method is performed on two 2D models to show its feasibility and stability.Last, the proposed method is performed on a real 3D seismic work area from Southwest China to predict reef reservoirs in practice. 展开更多

Image restoration is often solved by minimizing an energy function consisting of a data-fidelity term and a regularization term.A regularized convex term can usually preserve the image edges well in the restored image. In this paper,we consider a class of convex and edge-preserving regularization functions,i.e.,multiplicative half-quadratic regularizations, and we use the Newton method to solve the correspondingly reduced systems of nonlinear equations. At each Newton iterate, the preconditioned conjugate gradient method, incorporated with a constraint preconditioner,is employed to solve the structured Newton equation that has a symmetric positive definite coefficient matrix. The eigenvalue bounds of the preconditioned matrix are deliberately derived, which can be used to estimate the convergence speed of the preconditioned conjugate gradient method. We use experimental results to demonstrate that this new approach is efficient, and the effect of image restoration is reasonably well. 展开更多

Light field cameras have a wide area of applications, such as digital refocusing, scene depth information extraction and 3-D image reconstruction. By recording the energy and direction information of light field, they can well solve many technical problems that cannot be done by conventional cameras. An important feature of light field cameras is that a microlens array is inserted between the sensor and main lens, through which a series of sub-aperture images of different perspectives are formed. Based on this feature and the full-focus image acquisition technique, we propose a light-field optical flow calculation algorithm, which involves both the depth estimation and the occlusion detection and guarantees the edge-preserving property. This algorithm consists of three steps: 1) Computing the dense optical flow field among a group of sub-aperture images;2) Obtaining a robust depth-estimation by initializing the light-filed optical flow using the linear regression approach and detecting occluded areas using the consistency;3) Computing an improved light-field depth map by using the edge-preserving algorithm to realize interpolation optimization. The reliability and high accuracy of the proposed approach is validated by experimental results. 展开更多
