Integrating GPT into the Journalism and Communication Industries:The Technological Logic,Ecosystem Reconstruction,and Ethical Chal enges

Generative AI,represented by GPT(Generative Pre-trained Transformer),is now leading the technological revolution and is reconstructing the journalism and communication industries'ecosystems because of its powerful generative capacity and diverse range of outputs.While GPT is busy revolutionizing and innovating the production of news content,working patterns,and operation modes,it has also given rise to ethical concerns in regard to news authenticity,data security,humanistic values,and other related aspects.Therefore,it is imperative to initiate strategies and approaches,such as establishing a mechanism for verifying information authenticity,enhancing data security and privacy regulations,and instituting an ethical supervision and governance framework for AI,in order to facilitate the systematic advancement of AI-based news production while reinstating public trust.

Impact of educational interventions on mothers’ awareness and communication with their attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder children

Objective:The objectives of this study are to evaluate the effects of the educational intervention on mothers’knowledge,awareness,and communication difficulties experienced with their children and mothers’capacity to successfully interact with their affected child before and after the intervention.Materials and Methods:A quasi-experimental research design was used.A total of 30 mothers and their children complaining of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder from four Dawadmi primary schools were included.Data were collected through a self-developed questionnaire from September 2023 to January 2024 after study acceptance by Shaqra University’s scientific deanship.Intervention prepared according to subjects’needs and current scientific base and demonstrated in 10 sessions in schools.Results:Regarding mothers’age,more than one-fourth of them(26.7%)ranged from 31 to 35 year old,and about a third(36.7%)had secondary education.Regarding mother’s job,about 76.7%do not work,and the majority of affected children(66.6%)were male,there were significant improvements in mothers’knowledge pre-and postintervention also a significant improvement in mothers’awareness about symptoms of poor attention,hyperactivity,and impulsivity pre-and postintervention was found.Significant differences were found before and after the intervention regarding the impact of the intervention in decreasing mothers’challenges.Conclusion:The study hypothesis was accepted,and the intervention improved mothers;knowledge,awareness,and communication challenges.The intervention should be conducted and followed up for a long period of time to manage all mother’s and children’s daily challenges,improve children’s daily activities,and stabilize effective communication patterns between children and their family members.

Exploration of Intelligent Teaching Approaches for Ideological and Political Education in College Cross-Cultural Communication Courses

With the acceleration of globalization and the popularization of information technology,cross-cultural communication skills are increasingly important.As an integral of ideological-political education in colleges and universities,cross-cultural communication courses have attracted growing attention.This article focuses on the current state of ideological-political teaching in cross-cultural communication courses in colleges and universities,and introduces intelligent teaching approaches,focusing on the integration of Chinese culture,practical teaching,and innovative teaching methods.

Discussion on Cultural Integration and Educational Services for International Students from the Perspective of Situational Communication

From the perspective of situational communication,this paper aims to explore how to promote cultural integration and provide better educational services for international students in China.This paper first analyzes the basic assumptions and key factors of situational communication based on international students in China.Secondly,the relationship between situational communication and cultural integration and educational services for international students in China is discussed in depth.Additionally,the role of situational communication in educational services for international students in China,such as promoting cross-cultural communication,solving language barriers,and enhancing mutual understanding,is proposed.Lastly,from the perspective of situational communication,an optimization path of educational services and cultural integration for international students in China is proposed,including the provision of diversified educational resources,the enhancement of cross-cultural communication,and the establishment of an effective communication mechanism.This study expands the perspective of educational services for international students in China,provides a new theoretical framework and practical path,and offers a reference for promoting cultural integration and improving educational services for international students in China.

Letter to the Editor: Critical need for effective communication skills education in nursing

Dear Editor,Wei,Ming,Cheng,Bian,Ming,&Wei(2018)[1],state that specific communication problems were linked to 17.5%of all complaints,but in reality other categories,totalling 83.7%of all complaints,have a clear(verbal and non-verbal)communication component;uncaring attitudes(26.7%),unsatisfactory quality of treatment and competence(26.5%)and processes of care(13.0%).Highlighting this point are the examples given by patients in relation to complaints categorised as uncaring attitudes,included"displayed indifferent expressions,used unfriendly language tones,were impatient with patients'questions,or did not give thorough explanations when answering questions".The authors suggest theory-guided strategies to assist with nursing care.We advocate the need for this to be instilled in nursing education.Education providers for health professionals aim to improve communication skills through formal education[2-4].Wei et al.(2018)[1]state the Chinese curriculum for medicine focuses on science more than humane or caring qualities.Few education providers are able to effectively educate health professionals of the critical nature of communication for their future practice and work place requirements[5].

Importance of Sports Journalism Education

Today in every sphere of life, the concept of sport has great importance and demonstrates itself. The developments pertaining to different sports branches, particularly football, are conveyed to large masses by means of the mass media. The media monitors the sports world accordingly by means of the journalists specialized in this area. At this point, in order to enable the due coverage of various sports branches in the media and their being held in a more scientific and qualitative way, it is very important to provide and sustain specialization in sports journalism. Based on the fact that sport contributes a great deal to the physical and spiritual development of societies, the purpose of this study is to highlight the importance of the education to be provided in this area through different perspectives.

An Exploratory Study on Joumalistic Professionalism and Journalism Education in Contemporary China

Journalism education and the journalism industry have boomed in the past twenty years in China, however, journalism school graduates are not highly welcomed by media organizations. In order to examine issues and challenges facing journalism education, this study conducted an in-depth interview with practicing journalists and journalism educators through a lens of journalistic professionalism. This paper finds that their perceptions are focusing on expertise, commitment, responsibility but eschewing journalistic autonomy deliberately with respect to journalistic professionalism and concentrating on rigid journalism knowledge without ＂professional＂ or practical ability with respect to journalism education. Limitation and suggestions for future research are also provided.

New Information and Communication Technologies and University Education Renovation in Vietnam

The introduction of new information and communication technologies in Vietnam has had significant impacts on every sector, and changed the face of the whole Vietnamese society. New cultures, customs, and norms have been introduced to compete with the country＇s traditional values. In the context of Vietnamese sustained economic growth and social development, university education in Vietnam falls behind those from regional countries, partly because the influences of＇ information and communication technologies to the society as well as the education system at the paradigm levels have not been properly understood. In order to reverse this trend, a comprehensive renovation in university education must be carried out, and one of the first issues to be addressed is to reach a national consensus on the traditional and emerging social and educational values in Vietnam.

Journalism Teacher Assessment of Education Inhibitors

Combining,, cultural-historical theory＇ of human development with research pinpointing education inhibitors, a survey was developed to investigate how journalism teachers evaluated the effects of five education inhibitors on their students＇ learning. The list of inhibitors included electronic gadgets, lack of nutrition, parental education levels, family support levels, and racial subcultures. Results showed that use of electronic gadgets and lack of parental edxlcation were perceived as having the most negative influence on learning, while students＂ subcultures were perceived as having the smallest effect. Respondents also knew the least about their students＇ nutritional intake. Further, school size and student socio-economic status seem to play some role in teacher awareness of education inhibitors, and this is an important finding. It shows that while increasing teacher awareness of various education inhibitors, demographic factors also must be considered when targeting specific inhibitors.

The Science Communication in Context of New Media-- The Case of Science Journalism

This article emphasizes the importance of science communication in context of new media. A brief summary is offered of some particular posture of scientific journalism from within new media. With the above background, four priorities for future science communication in context of new media are introduced： （1） a brief description about the actual status of science communication within the new media and mass communication process in general; （2） a solid theoretical and conceptual frame for scientific journalism within new media context; （3） a description of some possible forms of public for scientific journalism; （4） a brief analysis upon the possible set of negative effects of scientific journalism in new media and globalization context, and a need for a larger perspective in any attempt to understand the phenomenon of science communication within new media and mass communication processes.

Striking the Right Chords--Cross-cultural communication through Indonesian gamelan education in China

In Classroom 711 of the main building at the Central Conservatory of Music(CCOM)in Beijing,more than a dozen students from different grades and majors sat on the floor,holding mallets for percussion instruments.With nervous anticipation,they stared at the musical notation on the whiteboard in front of them and prepared to play the instruments before them.Some occasionally hesitated to locate their next strike,but even a moment of distraction could cause them to lose rhythm completely,leaving them frantically scratching their heads to find their way back into the ensemble.One student confidently played the entire composition,only for the teacher to declare that not a single note had been played at the correct rhythm,leaving the student surprised and bewildered.

The Impact of Creative Group Teaching and Educational Booklet Methods on Interpersonal Communications among Midwives in Clinical Setting

Group discussion teaching technique for small groups and encouragement of critical but constructive and creative thinking for finding new and efficient solutions can lead to provision of better health and medical services that is defined in clinical setting, as the clinical psychology finds a way for curing and education. The present study was conducted with the aim to compare the effects of creative group teaching and educational booklet on interpersonal skills of midwives in a clinical setting. The present study was conducted on 97 midwifery graduates working in hospitals in Kerman Province, in two groups of educational booklet (49 midwives) and educational workshop (48 midwives) who participated in a 3-day creative teaching workshop in summer 2015. Creative problem-solving teaching intervention group was taught through educational workshop method, including small group and team working, group discussion and mini lectures. Midwifery 1 intervention group was provided with an educational booklet validated by professors of Nursing and Midwifery School for independent and individual study by midwives working in Kerman Province hospitals. The two groups were matched in terms of personal details. Hospitals were randomly selected, and midwives were selected by quota sampling. Interpersonal communication skills of both groups were assessed before and after intervention, and two months later using Interpersonal Communication Skills Test. The results obtained were analyzed in SPSS-16 using descriptive statistics, including frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation, and inferential statistics including U-Mann-Whitney, paired t, independent t, repeated measures ANOVA tests at significance level of P P P P P < 0.001). Both teaching methods improved midwives’ interpersonal communication skills. Therefore, standardized educational booklets which produce cost-effective similar results are recommended.

The lack and construction of teaching communication in Physical Education in Colleges and universities

Teachers and students are the two main subjects which are indispensable in the teaching activities. Their communication is the most basic activity in the whole teaching activities. The social economy in our country is developing and changing constantly, and the teaching reform has been changed, and it has been well developed. Physical education is a very important component in the teaching structure of colleges and universities, and the teaching of physical education has been highly concerned by people. But in the sports teaching practice, in？ uenced by traditional teaching ideas and teaching skills, communication of PE Teaching in Colleges and universities appeared unilateral and simple phenomenon, directly affect the quality and efficiency of teaching. We should figure out how to avoid the lack of teaching communication in college physical education, in order to make the relationship between teachers and students, students and students more harmonious, and promote the improvement of the efficiency of sports teaching. This article mainly focus on the teaching concept, we discuss and analyze the problems and reasons in the teaching of physical education in Colleges and Universities and put forward a new sports teaching communication construction strategy, the purpose is to provide some support and help to the university physical education teaching activities.

A Research of the Course “Taishan Cultural Communication with the World” under Blended Learning Model and Outcome-Based Education Concept

The course “Taishan Cultural Communication with the World” has been online and offline teaching and learning for two terms based on the theoretical ideas: Blended Learning and Outcome-Based Education. This paper uses the data from one semester to state how to carry out the program and the good results. At the same time disadvantages are also the points that should be taken into consideration. From the teaching and learning practice, students have benefited from the online videos, complementary materials and discussions;they need to be guided as well, especially the guidance offline to make up. Furthermore, the balance of time online and offline is a great challenge.

Potential Application of Communicative Approach in EFL Education in Inner Mongolia

This paper provides an overview of the present practice in EFL(English as a Foreign Language) teaching in Inner Mongolia, and considers the implications of the popular Communicative Approach in the Western world. Besides the several sources drawn in this article, I have also added my own experience in EFL learning and teaching, first as a student for four years and then as a teacher of English. for 11 years in Inner Mongolia Teachers’ University (IMTU). The possible application of the Communicative Approach in EFL teaching in Inner Mongolia is to be discussed.
