However, there is still a gap to apply it in industry due to the low tim...Content-based 3D model retrieval is of great help to facilitate the reuse of existing designs and to inspire designers during conceptual design. However, there is still a gap to apply it in industry due to the low time efficiency. This paper presents two new methods with high efficiency to build a Content-based 3D model retrieval system. First, an improvement is made on the "Shape Distribution (D2)" algorithm, and a new algorithm named "Quick D2" is proposed. Four sample 3D mechanical models are used in an experiment to compare the time cost of the two algorithms. The result indicates that the time cost of Quick D2 is much lower than that of D2, while the descriptors extracted by the two algorithms are almost the same. Second, an expandable 3D model repository index method with high performance, namely, RBK index, is presented. On the basis of RBK index, the search space is pruned effectively during the search process, leading to a speed up of the whole system. The factors that influence the values of the key parameters of RBK index are discussed and an experimental method to find the optimal values of the key parameters is given. Finally, "3D Searcher", a content-based 3D model retrieval system is developed. By using the methods proposed, the time cost for the system to respond one query online is reduced by 75% on average. The system has been implemented in a manufacturing enterprise, and practical query examples during a case of the automobile rear axle design are also shown. The research method presented shows a new research perspective and can effectively improve the content-based 3D model retrieval efficiency.展开更多

Generally speaking, the variable frequency responses of a variable filters are the functions of a set of spectral parameters defining the desired frequencyUomain characteristics. In this paper, we first sample the given variable maghtode specifications and use them to construct a multi-dimensional (M - D) specification array, then propose an outer product expansion method for expanding it as the sum of the outer products of vectors. Using the outer product expansion, we can simplify the difficult problem of desighng a variable filter as the easy one that only needs constant 1 - D filter designs and 1 - D polynoIhal approximations. The chosen system, in this case, consists of a heat exchanger used in automotive radiators flat finned tube type. Water and ethylene glycol compound as base fluid and volume fractions of iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe<sub>3</sub>O<sub>4</sub>) are used as a refrigerant. The quantities determined in this work are the nanofluid exit temperature, the air exit temperature, the absolute error between the models for heat transfer rate, and Effectiveness. The quantities that constitute parameters, independent variables, are the airflow, represented by the Reynolds number, and the iron oxide volume fraction. Ethylene Glycol 50% compound has slightly better thermal performance than pure water and reduces the reactive effect of water on the environment, increasing the average life of the equipment. The absolute relative error between the models is less than 20% and presents maximum values with the increase of the nanoparticle volume fraction and growth in the Reynolds number for the air.展开更多

Second-order perturbations of eigenvalues and eigenvectors are transformed into multiple parameter forms,and the second-order perturbation sensitivity matrices of eigenvalues and eigenvectors are developed.With these formulations,the efficient methods based on the second-order Taylor expansion and second-order perturbation are obtained to estimate changes of eigenvalues and eigenvectors when the design parameters are changed. The presented method avoids direct differential operation,and thus reduces difficulty for computing the second-order sensitivity matrices of eigenpairs.A numerical example is given to demonstrate application and accuracy of the proposed method.展开更多

Sand mold 3D printing technology based on the principle of droplet ejection has undergone rapid development in recent years and has elicited increasing attention from engineers and technicians.However,current sand mol...Sand mold 3D printing technology based on the principle of droplet ejection has undergone rapid development in recent years and has elicited increasing attention from engineers and technicians.However,current sand mold 3D printing technology exhibits several problems,such as single-material printing molds,low manufacturing efficiency,and necessary post-process drying and heating for the manufacture of sand molds.This study proposes a novel high-efficiency print forming method and device for multi-material casting molds.The proposed method is specifically related to the integrated forming of two-way coating and printing and the shortflow manufacture of roller compaction and layered heating.These processes can realize the high-efficiency print forming of high-performance sand molds.Experimental results demonstrate that the efficiency of sand mold fabrication can be increased by 200%using the proposed two-way coating and printing method.The integrated forming method for layered heating and roller compaction presented in this study effectively shortens the manufacturing process for 3D-printed sand molds,increases sand mold strength by 63.8%,and reduces resin usage by approximately 30%.The manufacture of multi-material casting molds is demonstrated on typical wheeled cast-iron parts.This research provides theoretical guidance for the engineering application of sand mold 3D printing.展开更多

The conversion function of voice source was defined the ratio of supra-glottal acoustic voice source signal to the glottal air volume flow velocity waveform in frequency domain. A carefully designed in vivo canine larynx experiment and several human experiments including different vowels, pressed, falsetto, breath and typical laryngeal diseases were adopted to demonstrate this alternative GVE method. Compared with other vocal efficiency, it is shown that this method could eliminate the contribution from the super vocal tract transmission and resonance to GVE, and reflect the differences of phonation modes. The average magnitude of this conversion function in frequency domain represents GVE, and the variation of the magnitude in fundamental frequency is identical to AC/DC value.展开更多
