Methods: Establishment of an EPR based on open source technology (MySQL database and PI-IP scripting language) in a tertiary care andrology center at a university clinic. Workflow analysis, a benchmark comparing the two systems and a survey for usability and ergonomics were carried out. Results: Workflow optimizations (electronic ordering of laboratory analysis, elimination of transcription steps and automated referral letters) and the decrease in time required for data entry per patient to 71% ± 27%, P 〈 0.05, lead to a workload reduction. The benchmark showed a significant performance increase (highest with starting the respective system: 1.3 ± 0.2 s vs. 11.1 ± 0.2 s, mean ± SD). In the survey, users rated the new system at least two ranks higher over its predecessor (P 〈 0.01) in all sub-areas. Conclusion: With further improvements, today's EPR can evolve to substitute paper records, saving time (and possibly costs), supporting user satisfaction and expanding the basis for scientific evaluation when more data is electronically available. Newly introduced systems should be versatile, adaptable for users, and workflow-oriented to yield the highest benefit. If ready-made software is purchased, customization should be implemented during rollout. (Asian J Andro12006 Mar; 8: 235-241)展开更多

Since then, teachers have had a lot of work to be done. Every year they have to prepare an individualized programme for each child with special needs. They have to set goals that each child with special needs has to achieve at a particular subject. Pupils have different teachers every year and to make their work easier, the author is considering making a website database with basic information about them. This database would state the goals that the pupil achieved in the past year, which strategy of teaching proved to be the best for him or her and what the areas he or she needs help with are. Teachers would be collecting this data during the primary education, after the final evaluation this database would also be made available to the secondary school of the pupil in concern. This database should be located on the website of Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. It would be available to primary schools, but protected by a password which would grant the school access to the data of their students only. In secondary schools, teachers could also access to the information, so they would not have to be discovering appropriate teaching strategies that worked for a pupil in the past all over again. This would enable better conditions and a successful education for pupils with special needs.展开更多

Therefore, traditional archiving couldn’t support this explosion of information. The electronic archive will lead to many advantages such as faster access, privacy and security, data accessibility, and distribution of authorities between administrative levels. This paper will discuss electronic archiving and whether it is a necessity or an administrative luxury. This research shed some light on three main topics, which are general archiving, distributed database systems, and a case study.展开更多

Methods: This is a qualitative and quantitative assessment study in Fann Teaching Hospital between April 2014 and June 2015 one year after its implementation. The quantitative component consisted of the audit of the database to determine the socio-demographic characteristics of patients and the results of mammograms. The qualitative component assessed users’ experience. For analysis, quantitative data were extracted and transferred to Microsoft Excel. For scale variables, we calculated the averages and extremes. For qualitative variables, we established percentages. Results: During the study period, 433 patients underwent mammograms. The average age of patients was 48 years. The completion rate maintained above 85% was below 26% in the first two months of use. As to the completeness given examinations, it was still above 83%. The results of mammogram examinations were normal in the majority of cases: 96% for the right breast and 95.2% for the left breast. All users had a favourable opinion about the database. The reasons were better work organization, comprehensiveness, accessibility and standardization of information about the patient and especially the immediate availability of statistics. For 60% of these health professionals, complaints related to the use of the software were the time-consuming of filling data. Conclusion: This study mainly describes the perception of health professionals on the computerization of radiological examinations. It offers some advantages, proposes improvements and opens avenues for reflection on the globalization of the computerization of patient records in Radiology.展开更多
