Evaluation and Empirical Research on Teachers’ Information Literacy in the Context of Smart Education

The development of smart education has led to the integration of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence with education.It is a prerequisite for teachers to have high information literacy for conducting education and teaching work.This study conducted a questionnaire survey on 412 teachers in a certain area.The results showed that teachers’information literacy is above the middle level,and there are significant differences in information literacy between teaching experience and educational background.The evaluation showed that information ethics,information awareness,and information application have a significant positive impact on professional development,and information knowledge and information awareness have a positive predictive effect on information ethics.

The Empirical Research of Native Thinking in the Process of English Composition

The method of questionnaire is employed to investigate the impact of Chinese thinking in the writing processes of 80 college English majors.It reveals that the English writing process is a bilingual event(namely,English writers have both Chinese and English at their disposal when they are composing in English).And no matter whether the English proficiency of the learners is high or low,the learners have a great dependence on Chinese thinking in the process of English writing.In the categories of task reacting and content organizing,there is no great difference between the high and low English proficiency students.But in the category of linguistic form,the influence of Chinese thinking on the low level students is far greater than the high level students.

An Empirical Research on Integrating Chinese Traditional Culture into College English Teaching

198 non-English freshmen students from Shandong Yingcai College were selected as research subjects.The subjects were divided into the experimental group(EG) and the control group(CG).The students in EG were taught English integrated Chinese traditional culture for three semesters,while the ones in CG were taught as usual.The results indicate that the integration of Chinese culture broadens the students' horizons and improves the students' ability to express Chinese culture in English and intercultural communicative competence.

An empirical research on strategic planning in public libraries of China's Mainland

Purpose: As an important issue, strategic planning in public libraries has been paid more attention in China recent years. However, a comprehensive and systematic research, especially strategic models based on empirical studies, is required in the public library strategic planning. The purpose of this research is to investigate the current practices and propose an appropriate reference and guidance of strategic planning in public libraries in China’s mainland.Design/methodology/approach: A questionnaire-based survey method is carried out to collect the views of public libraries staff at different levels in China’s mainland. The questionnaire is designed on the following four aspects toward strategic planning in public libraries: The attitude, the status quo, basic issues and the guides. The 882 valid questionnaires are processed by a statistic analysis to reflect the current practices of strategic planning in public libraries in China’s mainland.Findings: Our research results reveal that the unclear and confused understanding of the strategic planning still exist among the public libraries staff in China’s mainland. However, the majority of respondents still believe that the strategic planning in public libraries is significant and the library developments will be affected for lacking strategic planning. Moreover, it is considerable that the strategic plans are jointly made by independent agencies and public libraries, or by the public library itself. Also, guidelines and a set of softwares in strategic planning are needed.Research limitations/implications: The study was restricted to six main areas in China. A wider geographic sampling can preferable show the basic status of strategic planning in public libraries.The procedures of data collection would be another limitation. Nevertheless, case studies should be used in the further research.Originality: The importance of this research originates from a large number of first-hand data about strategic planning in public libraries in China’s mainland. The results provide extra perception into the future development of Chinese public libraries. The understanding obtained from this study will play a part in forthcoming evolution of this area of research.

Empirical Research of Complex Adaptive Blended Learning in English Intensive Reading Teaching

This research intends to employ Complex Adaptive Blended Learning(CABL)in English Intensive Reading teaching.This empirical research tries to work out what is Complex Adaptive Blended Learning Literature review,Definition of blended learning.It would further analyze the core concepts and framework of CABL and discuss the principles of CABL.This empirical study of Complex Adaptive Blended Learning in English Intensive Reading Teaching would be conducted on the Super-star Learning Management System(SLMS).The activities designed in the Complex Adaptive Blended Learning would be analyzed and how they work before class,in class,and after class would be described.The Complex Adaptive Blended Learning not only offers a platform for students to develop their potential in English Intensive Reading class,but also facilitates the data collection for the teachers in their teaching research.

Empirical Study on Protection of Drinking Water in China——Taking Lin'an as an Example

[ObjectiveJ Taking Lin＇an City in Zhejiang Province as an example, the protection of drinking water in China was studied. [Method] Through consulting historical data, questionnaire, and interview, and based on the experience and achievement of protecting drinking water in Lin＇an during the ＂eleventh five-year plan＂ period, problems in the protection of drinking water in Lin＇an was proposed. [ Result] Through empirical study, huge achievement in protecting drinking water in Lin＇an in recent years was achieved. However, there were still problems such as safety problem in the water protection area, room for improving pollution management, investment input and public participation, etc. In response to the problems, it was proposed to strengthen the publicity and education, fortify pollution management and innovate fund raising mechanism, etc. to construct all- round water protection network. [Conclusion] The study provided experience for the protection of drinking water in China.

An Empirical Study on Hainan Citizens'Participation in Urban Community Governance under the Background of Free Trade Port Construction

Hainan is in the period of high-speed development and transformation of government management.To build a free trade port with Chinese characteristics requires a modern social governance system that confirms to the trend of the times,and community governance is important part of whole social governance system.Citizens'cooperative participation in grass-roots community governance has the functions of creating a good living environment,reducing social conflicts,improving residents'sense of well-being and attracting all kinds of talents.Based on the perspective of multi cooperative social governance,this paper empirically investigates the current situation of Hainan urban resident's participation in community governance,explores the reasons for the lack of citizen participation in community governance,and puts forward suggestions for improving citizen participation in community governance.

Relationship between R&D investment and business performance from the perspective of environmental regulation: Takeing the heavy-polluting industries from 2011 to 2016 as an example

In recent years, China has promulgated many laws and regulations of environmental protection, gradually forming an environmental regulation system, and most enterprises are under the dual pressure of environmental protection and business performance. It would be a significant way that enterprises undertake R&D activities for a change. This paper is based on the Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed heavy pollution enterprises in 2011-2016, which is based on the review and summary of research results of former researchers, combining with current environmental regulation situation of our country, raising the relevant hypothesis between environmental regulations, R&D investment and business performance against heavy pollution industry. Adopting the method of empirical research, it also built the linear regression model which employs the relevant financial data of heavy-polluting enterprises in China as the statistical research sample. The relationship for heavy-polluting enterprises affected by environmental regulations between environmental protection R&D investment and enterprise business performance was tested. The results show that there is a positive influence on the environmental R&D investment and business performance, and a lag effect upon the R&D investment of enterprises to business performance. Finally, the research results were used to evaluates problems existing in the R&D investment on pollution industry in China as well as business performance and we put forward some suggestions on improving environmental regulation standards and technology innovation consciousness as well as optimizing the structure of R&D investment.

Assessing the Impact of the“Two-child Policy”in China:The Effects of the Second Child on the Growth of Teenagers

Purpose:China’s new universal two-child policy has brought a baby boom of the second child in 2016.With the changing family structures,elder children in adolescence may have more and more emotional and even psycholog­ical problems such as“two-child syndrome”.This paper aims to explore the“influence factors and mechanism of the second child on the growth of teenagers”and has great practical significance to promote the physical and mental health of teenagers and the harmony of two-child families.Design/methodology/approach:By means of literature analysis,in-depth interview,questionnaire survey and statistical analysis,the elder children aged 12 to 18 in the two-child family were taken as the main body of the survey,and an empirical research based on NLP understanding hierarchy theory was carried out.Major Findings:(1)The most significant influence on the growth of teenagers is the attitude of parents,and then the gender of the first child.(2)Parents’favouritism towards the second child would lead to decline in the first child’s academic performance.(3)The higher the family income,the less the influence on the first child’s life.(4)When the age difference is large,the first child and the second child are not easy to have conflicts.Practical implications:Parents should try to treat any children equally.Parents should pay attention to the sibling relationship of their two chil­dren with small age gap.Parents who have two children with a large age gap should properly guide the elder child to help take care of the younger brother or sister.Originality/value:This study contributes to the growing literature focus­ing on the influence factors and mechanism of the second child on the growth of teenagers in the context of China’s new universal two-child policy.It adds some early empirical insights on the physical and mental health of teenagers in two-child families.

Factors Influencing Migrant Workers' Urban Labor Patterns: Willing Working Time in Urban Areas as the Mediator

China is witnessing a very complicated economic development environment.Migrant workers'working patterns will directly affect their income level and the realization of many economic and social development goals.This paper collects relevant data from three places:Shanghai,Lanzhou and Chengdu for empirical research whose results show that determinants of migrant worker's willing working time in urban areas mainly include the“income-consumption difference”,“urban-rural consumption difference”and their“urban income and expenditure uncertainty”.These factors directly affect their effective working time in the city,and determine their choice of choosing corresponding work patterns.From the significant differences of these factors,we can see that migrant workers in China is still struggling to solve their material needs under the pressure of livelihood,and less attention is paid to their spiritual needs and the pursuit of quality of life.

Multileveled Engagement:A Cognitive Empirical Approach to Crossover Picturebooks

Crossover picturebooks attract readers of different ages.The trend of refocusing on the body in children’s literature criticism,especially under the influence of literary cognitive studies as Maria Nikolajeva points out(2016),provides a context to reconfigure our understanding of crossover picturebooks.Informed by literary cognitive studies,particularly the theory of brain laterality,the project selects the picturebook that may have crossover potential to start with,then investigates the actual readers’engagement with the potentially crossover picturebook,and finally feeds the insights gleaned from the empirical study back into the understanding of the selected text,and possibly crossover picturebooks generally.The project aims to learn about the crossover picturebook through exploring how it impacts readers.It was a small-scale case study,conducted in the east of England,UK.Colin Thompson’s How to Live Forever was used with two adults and two children.Observation and interviewing were used to collect data.Text-related creative activities served to support or clarify the oral response.The project reveals:the multileveled nature of crossover picturebooks that many scholars emphasize may correspond to the multileveled engagement that texts can elicit from readers,which is partially the outcome of cognitive-affective skills and mechanisms engaged differently across children and adults.This study also shows the crossover potential particular to picturebooks:picturebooks may use the visual to flesh out the embodied experience,which can springboard further thinking about abstract,complicated notions.This mode of representation corresponds to the way the human mind works,thus engaging children and adults alike.

Comprehensive Evaluation of Talent Training Model for Modern Rehabilitation Therapy Technology:A Case Study of School Y

The purpose of this study is to comprehensively evaluate the modern training model of rehabilitation therapy technology talents.Selecting the third-year students of the rehabilitation therapy technology program in School Y as the research subject,300 questionnaires were collected and the effective response rate was 92%.The strengths and weaknesses of the modern training model were analyzed through a mixed qualitative and quantitative research method.It was found that 68%of the students thought that the modern model had obvious advantages in practical teaching,but 42%of the students thought that it still needed to be improved in personalized teaching.This study provides an empirical basis and specific suggestions for optimizing the cultivation of rehabilitation therapy technology talents.

An Empirical Study on Teachers’ Informationized Teaching Ability in Higher Vocational Colleges

Information-based teaching plays a positive role in enhancing the interaction between teachers and students in vocational colleges,motivating students’learning interests and improving teaching efficiency.This paper aims at analyzing the reliability,validity and factors of the questionnaire designed for evaluating teachers’ability of educational informationization in higher vocational colleges.The research results show that the Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of the designed questionnaire is 0.899,which indicates that the reliability test results are good and can be generalized.KMO value is 0.886,Bartlett’s sphericity test value is 2492.773,and the significance level is less than 0.05.It is shown the overall level of validity is good,while the local reliability and validity need to be strengthened.In aspect of educational informationization practice,male teachers and female teachers behave different.Moreover,most teachers give lowscores to informationization environment.Finally,analytical results show information-based teaching is important and the classroom teaching efficiency is improved with it.

Effects of smart agricultural production investment announcements on shareholder value:Evidence from China

The advent of the era of the smart economy has made agricultural production more intelligent.An increasing number of companies have launched a series of investment activities aimed at smart agricultural production(SAP).However,whether smart agricultural production investment(SAPI)impacts the stock market has yet to be confirmed.Therefore,based on the sample data of 118 listed companies in China from 2010 to 2019,this study empirically examines the impact of SAPI announcements on shareholder value,as indicated by abnormal returns of stocks.Further,we tested the moderating effect of certain characteristic factors on abnormal stock returns.The research results illustrate a significant positive connection between SAPI announcements and shareholder value.Moreover,considering the announcement content and company factors,this study investigates the impacts of different investment targets and industries on the market reaction to SAPI announcements.We find that non-agricultural companies have a more positive market reaction to SAPI than agricultural companies;the higher the liability-asset ratio,the more positive will be the stock market reaction to SAPI.

Application of 5G+VR Technology in Landscape Design Teaching

As the VR technology that has been applied in many fields in China,the arrival of 5G era provides a strong impetus for VR technology to take off again.And the in-depth application of 5G+VR technology will further promote higher education.In view of the problems and deficiencies of the current landscape design teaching methods in China’s universities,the Introduction to landscape design course and teaching as an example,5G+VR technology is introduced in this paper to carry out the innovative design and teaching application of the course system.The teaching effect feedback and evaluation were carried out.The research and application results show that the innovation of 5G+VR in the teaching content and form of landscape design makes the course teaching simple and vivid,has strong situational experience and learning atmosphere,and effectively stimulates students’interest in learning.
