Hereafter, more and more social scientists come to realize the importance of this concept on the thorough understanding of the crossculture discrepancy. This article compares the difference between Chinese(representative of high- context culture) and English(representative of low-context culture) in terms of verbal communication patterns. In addition to a discussion of students' common difficulties and inappropriate habits in writing resulting from their mother- tongue and Chinese thinking- mode, it offers some constructive suggestions for students concerning their instruction of writing and aims to achieve good results in the English writing test.
