The Translation of Idioms of Animals and Plants in Different Cultures

We all know that idioms which contain plants and animals play an essential role in our daily life, an idiom full of cultural connotation can polish one's words and make it more lively. There are a large number of animals and plants both in Chinese and English idioms, and the similarities and dissimilarities of figurative images between English and Chinese idioms containing with animals and plants can reflect different characteristics of Chinese and Western cultures. This thesis introduces the relation between culture and translation, and then gives some examples to illustrate the same animals and plants' similarity and dissimilarity in idioms between Chinese and English. The thesis also enumerates a lot of idioms of animals and plants which gives reader a deeper understanding to idioms and have a clear definition about the connotation of animals and plants in different culture and introduces the main methods of translation.

A Study of the English Translation Strategies of Chinese Film and Television Animation from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

The English translation level of domestic film and television animation not only affects the appreciation effect of English-speaking audiences,but also affects the communication and exchange of Chinese excellent culture in the world,and even affects the commercial interests of film and television production.With the increasing international exchange of various cultures,the traditional theoretical views on translation are no longer suitable for the enrichment and development of modern literary forms.Based on the Skopos Theory,this paper will discuss the translation strategies of film and television animation works and propose the translation methods of film and television animation,to enhance the communication and influence of Chinese culture.

Cultural Transference of Plant and Animal Images in Shijing Translation

As one of the Confucian classics, Shijing （i~） occupies a pivotal position in the development of Chinese culture. This paper makes a comparative study on the English translation of plant and animal images in Shijing, trying to reveal the cultural connotations in them and to suggest some translation strategies for the correct transference of cultural implications in plant and animal images in the poems of this ancient book.

On Translating English Animal Proverb into Chinese from Cultural Perspective--Taking the proverb about dog as an example

Proverb, the essence of language, is a fixed phrase or short sentence that is circulated among the masses. With the increasingly close exchange between China and western countries, translation between English and Chinese, especially proverb translation, is the most important task of translators. ＂English animal proverb is a wonderful work of numerous and various English proverbs, and it is rich in unique charms of language arts.＂ Correctly translating English animal proverb can play an important role in proverb translation A large number of English animal proverbs use ＂dog＂ as a metaphor, and there is an obvious discrepancy of dog culture between China and western countries. In the light of it, taking the proverb about ＂dog＂ as an example, this thesis introduces the dog culture of China and western countries respectively and their discrepancies. Based on this, the thesis has a deep discussion on several methods of translating English proverb into Chinese and the attentions that should be paid in the process of translating. All these aim to make readers have a better understanding of Chinese and western proverbs and shorten the distance caused by cultural difference to more flexibly master and use both English and Chinese languages

体认语言学视域下唐诗植物隐喻英译研究——以《许渊冲经典英译古代诗歌1000首:唐诗》为例

现存关于体认语言学视角下的唐诗隐喻英译研究中,关于植物隐喻研究多为零散例证研究,所提出的翻译策略并不全面,也较少融入体认分析[1]。鉴于此,本文基于体认语言学,以《许渊冲经典英译古代诗歌1000首:唐诗》为语料,探讨其中植物隐喻英译的特征。研究发现:总体隐喻数量为167项,其中,植物隐喻共35项,占比20.96%。本文从体认语言学语言层面、认知层面和现实层面三个方面对植物隐喻进行分析。
