Objective: To explore mechanisms of acupuncture for the treatment of obesity complicated with prernenstrual tension syndrome (PTS). Methods: By means of syndrome-differentiation, 45 female simple obese (SO) patients with PTS (SO+ PTS group and 35 simple obesity patients (SO group) were treated with body acupuncture combined with ear acupuncture. Thirtythree normal women subjects were assigned to control group. Changes in symptoms, signs, obesity index, clinical indices of disease and syndrome, equilibrium index of the vegetative nervous system (Y value), blood estradiol (E2), progesterone (P), aldosterone (Aid) and lipid levels were detected and compared before and after the treatment. Results: Before acupuncture treatmerit, the obesity index, clinical indices of disease and syndrome, Y value, E2/P ratio and Aid in these patients were obviously increased, and E2 and P levels decreased. After the treatment, the body weight of the patients was reduced, and the increased obesity index, clinical indices of diseases and syndromes, Y value, E2/P ratio and Aid were markedly lowered (P〈0.05, or P 〈 0.01), and the decreased E2 and P levels elevated significantly (P〈 0.01). Conclusion: Acupuncture exerts favorable regulative function on clinical indices of disease and syndrome, Y value, E2, P, Aid, lipid and E2/P in obese patients with PTS, which may be related to its resultant improvement of the functions of the hypothalamo-pituitary-gonedal axis, hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal axis and the vegetative nervous system. 展开更多

Supercritical CO2 (SC-CO2) extraction technology and ultrasonic technology were used to extract two active sex hormones, estradiol and progesterone, and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) from antler velvet. The effects of SC-CO2 extraction condition on the extraction yield and content of sex hormones, the ultrasonic extrac-tion condition on the content of IGF-1 and the SC-CO2 extraction condition on the activity remaining of IGF-1 were studied. The optimal conditions were obtained. The experimental results showed that, in presence of 75% ethanol as the co-solvent, the mean yield and content of estradiol and progesterone were 87.67 pg·g-1 and 1224.10 pg·g-1, 12.38 ng·g-1 and 354.06 ng·g-1, respectively, with extraction pressure of 30 MPa, temperature of 35°C, extraction time of 30 min and CO2 consumption of 15 L·g-1 at the flow rate of 2.0 L·min-1. The highest content of IGF-1 was 7425.75 ng·g-1 antler velvet residue, when the pH10 ammonia-ammonium chloride buffer solution was used as the solvent, the ratio of solvent to sample was 20/1 (volume/mass), the extraction temperature was 0-35°C, and the ex-traction time was 4×15 min. Under these conditions, 93.68% activity remaining of IGF-1 in the residue was ob-tained, while little IGF-1 activity exists in traditional residue. The experimental results indicate that the technology of SC-CO2 with co-solvent is of advantage for getting high content sexual hormones and keeping high activity of IGF-1 in the residue, which can not be achieved by traditional extraction methods. 展开更多

Objective: To explore the effect of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) on abnormalmaternal-fetal immune and endocrine in 24cases of threatened abortion (TA) and 68 cases of recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA).Methods: The levels of blocking effect (BE),antiidiotype antibody (AIA), cytotoxin antibody (CTA), β-human chorionic gonadotropin(β-hCG), progesterone (P), estradiol (E2)were measured in all 92 patients. Results: Incidence rates of the lack of BE, AIA and CTAin 92 cases were 60. 87%, 57. 61 % and 72.83% respectively. The lower levels of BE,AIA and CTA were elevated significantly (P< 0. 05 ~0. 01 ), and the serial levels β- hCG, P and E2 were markedly increasing (P< 0. 01 ) in all successful pregnant patients. The rate of the successful pregnancy of 92 cases was 89. 13 % (to TA 91. 67%, to RSA 88.24 % respectively). Conclusions: It suggeststhat the lack of blocking antibody (BA) andendocrine hormone deficiency may result inspontaneous abortion during early pregnancy. The therapeutic mechanism of those herbs intreating spontaneous abortion was associatedwith the growing levels of BA and hormone byregulating the maternal-fetal immunity and endocrine. 展开更多

Objective: To study the effect of Chineseherbal medicine for replenishing Kidney combined with acupuncture in treating anovulationand infertility, and the relationship betweenits ovulation inducing effect and endometrialcontents of estradiol receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR). Methods: Twentynine cases were treated with replenishing Kidney drugs combined with acupuncture for 1~3months. Patients' ER and PR were measuredby immunohistochemical method. And pa- tients were classified according to PR contentinto PR positive group and mild PR positivegroup. Results: Fifteen cases of PR positivegroup, completed treatment for 45 cycles, among them, 40 cycles showed ovulation, theovulation rate being 88. 89 %. Ten in 14 cases, who complicated with infertility, becamepregnant, the pregnant rate being 71. 43%.While in 11 cases of Ph mild positive group, 9complicated with in fertility, completed treatment for 33 cycle, 10 cycles showed ovulation(30. 30 % ), and pregnant rate 22. 22 % (2/9). The difference between the two groupswas significant (P < 0. 01 ). Conclusion: Thereplenishing Kidney drugs combined withacupuncture treatment could result a good effect in treating infertility due to anovulation, especially on those with high endometrial PRcontent. 展开更多
