Electromechanical product's reliability is affected by uncertainty as well as performance degeneration during its life cycle.The present reliability and performance integrating modeling methods have obvious deficiencies in long period reliability analysis and assessment when applied to such system.A novel integrating modeling method based on physics of failure(PoF)and a simulation algorithm that considers uncertainty and degeneration are proposed in this paper to compute maintenance free operation period or maintenance free operation period survivability which is used to assess long period reliability of system.Furthermore,the concept design of this kind of software based on the above theory is also introduced.A case study of servo valve demonstrates the feasibility of the method and usability of the software in this research. 展开更多

The deformation and micro-voids formation mechanisms in ferrite / bainite( F / B) multi-phase steel with the volume fraction of bainite less than 50% were studied by numerical simulation and experimental observation. The results show that the micro-strain concentrates at the soft / hard phase( F / B) interface in the multi-phase steel,which should be correlated with the mechanism of incoordinate deformation. During the necking of the steel,the micro-voids initially form around the F / B interface,which also form in ferrite and bainite with the severe strain. The micro-voids in bainite are more dense and finer than those in ferrite. The failure mechanism of bainite is the coalescence of micro-voids,and the failure mechanism of ferrite is the growth and tearing of micro-voids. Due to the different failure mechanisms of ferrite and bainite,a suitable part of soft phase would be beneficial to the capability of anti-failure of F / B multi-phase steel during the ductile fracture. 展开更多

To evaluate the fault location and the failure prediction models, simulation-based and code- based experiments were conducted to collect the required failure data. The PIE model was applied to simu- late failures in the simulation-based experiment. Based on syntax and semantic level fault injections, a hy- brid fault injection model is presented. To analyze the injected faults, the difficulty to inject (DTI) and diffi- culty to detect (DTD) are introduced and are measured from the programs used in the code-based experi- ment. Three interesting results were obtained from the experiments: 1) Failures simulated by the PIE model without consideration of the program and testing features are unreliably predicted; 2) There is no obvious correlation between the DTI and DTD parameters; 3) The DTD for syntax level faults changes in a different pattern to that for semantic level faults when the DTI increases. The results show that the parameters have a strong effect on the failures simulated, and the measurement of DTD is not strict. 展开更多

An experimental and numerical investigation into the structural performance of reinforced concrete box sewers with typical corrosion-related extreme defects localized at the ceiling was conducted.Firstly,during the large-scale laboratory test,some key struc-tural responses were captured and evaluated,including the crack width development process(via digital image correlation measurement),ceiling deflection,and material strains of both complete and typical defective boxes.The failure modes and load-carrying mechanism throughout the specimen loading phases were analyzed.Furthermore,the specimen failure process was simulated using a damage-basedfinite element method,and a related parameter sensitivity analysis was performed.The results indicate that the defective ceiling cracked at mid-span under a low load value,but the bending capacity loss can be substituted by two shoulders and carry three tofive times more load before completely collapsing.The simulation matched the lab test qualitatively,and with the suggested set strategy of material parameters,the load-deflection feature curve could provide a practical prediction of the ultimate bearing capacity of the defec-tive sewers,with a 10–15%error on the safe side. 展开更多

How to solve the hypersonic aerothermodynamics around large-scale uncontrolled spacecraft during falling disintegrated process from outer space to earth,is the key to resolve the problems of the uncontrolled Tiangong-No.1 spacecraft reentry crash.To study aerodynamics of spacecraft reentry covering various flow regimes,a Gas-Kinetic Unified Algorithm(GKUA)has been presented by computable modeling of the collision integral of the Boltzmann equation over tens of years.On this basis,the rotational and vibrational energy modes are considered as the independent variables of the gas molecular velocity distribution function,a kind of Boltzmann model equation involving in internal energy excitation is presented by decomposing the collision term of the Boltzmann equation into elastic and inelastic collision terms.Then,the gas-kinetic numerical scheme is constructed to capture the time evolution of the discretized velocity distribution functions by developing the discrete velocity ordinate method and numerical quadrature technique.The unified algorithm of the Boltzmann model equation involving thermodynamics non-equilibrium effect is presented for the whole range of flow regimes.The gas-kinetic massive parallel computing strategy is developed to solve the hypersonic aerothermodynamics with the processor cores 500~45,000 at least 80%parallel efficiency.To validate the accuracy of the GKUA,the hypersonic flows are simulated including the reentry Tiangong-1 spacecraft shape with the wide range of Knudsen numbers of 220~0.00005 by the comparison of the related results from the DSMC and N-S coupled methods,and the low-density tunnel experiment etc.For uncontrolling spacecraft falling problem,the finite-element algorithm for dynamic thermalforce coupling response is presented,and the unified simulation of the thermal structural response and the hypersonic flow field is tested on the Tiangong-1 shape under reentry aerodynamic environment.Then,the forecasting analysis platform of end-of-life largescale spacecraft flying track is established on the basis of ballistic computation combined with reentry aerothermodynamics and deformation failure/disintegration. 展开更多
