[ Objective] This experiment was conducted to study methionine level in diet for prepnant famale rabbits on the development of hair follicles of baby rabbits. [ Method] Fifty-four Angora female rabbits with similar body weight, parities and historicaly hair yield were randomly assigned to three groups with eighteen replicates in each group and one rabbit per replicate. Rabbits during pregnancy were fed diets with 0.5!%, 0.71% and 0.91% methionine, respectively. Hair follicle density and diameter in the back skin were determined at 18-day fetus. 26-day fetus, newborn and 2- month-old,and hair fiber diameter at 2-month-old was also determined. [ Result] The results showed as follows: (1) hair follicle density and diameter at each stage,coarse hair fiber diameter at 2-month. old showed a tendency of increasing with dietary methionine level( P 〉0.05), fine hair diameter in 0.91% group was significantly larger than that in 0.51% group at 2-month-old ( P 〈 0.05). (2) With the development of baby rabbit,the ratio of secondary follicle and primary follicle increased gradually, at newborn of rabbits in group 0.51%, 0.71% and 0.91%were 5.84, 5.56 and 5.81, respectively, and at 2-month-old were 8.47, 7.97 and 8.03, respectively. (3) Baby rabbits in group 0.51%, 0.71% and 0.91% gained increases of primary follicle diameter by 0.58, 0.57 and 0.61pm/d from 26-day fetus to birth, and 0.11,0.11 and 0.12 prn/d from birth to 2-month-old, re- spectively; they also gained increases on secondary follicle diameter by 0.0018,0. 012 and 0. 011prn/d from birth to 2-months-old, respectively. [ Conclusion] These results indicate that increase of methionine level in diet for female rabbits during pregnancy is a stimulation factor for the development of hair follicle of baby rabbits, and can improve their hair fiber diameter.展开更多
The objective of the study is to investigate the effects of active immunization against gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-A) on secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (...The objective of the study is to investigate the effects of active immunization against gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-A) on secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in the pituitary, and to observe the histological structures and development about ovaries and uteri in female rabbits. 24 female rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) were divided randomly into 4 groups (n=6), namely, experimental group I (EG-I), experimental II (EG-II), experimental III (EG-III), and control group (CG). Rabbits were subcutaneously injected with 1.0 mL GnRH-A (alarelin) antigen respectively at concentrations of 100, 100 and 50 μg mL-1 respectively, in EG-I, EG-II and EG-III. Alarelin antigen was re-injected in EG-II and EG-III with the same dosage on 20 d. CG was a blank. The ovarian and uterine samples were collected aseptically at the end of the experiment of 70 d. The tissue slices were observed under light and electron microscopes. Serum concentrations of LH and FSH were measured with ELISA. The results showed that serum LH concentrations in EG-II and EG-III reached the peak levels on 50 and 40 d respectively, and LH level in EG-II exceeded other 3 groups on 50 d (P0.05). FSH level in EG-II was higher than those in EG-I, CG (P0.01) and EG-III (P0.05) on 40 d. GnRH-A could increase the number of primary follicles, enlarge the primary follicle vertical diameter (PFV) and primary follicle transverse diameter (PFT), and promote growth and maturation of follicles. The endometrial epithelium thickness (EET) and uterine wall thickness (UWT) in three EGs were less than that in CG (P0.05). GnRH-A can increase the quantities of mitochondrial cristaes, cortex granules in cytoplasm, broaden and lengthen zona pellucidas and microvilli of oocytes. It also enlarged nuclei of ooxytes and mitochondria, thereby it promoted the development of oocytes. Re-injection of 100 μg alarelin antigen enhanced the secretion of LH and FSH. GnRH-A promoted the growth and maturation of ovaries and follicles, suppressed uterine development, and also influenced histostructure of ovaries and uteri in female rabbits.展开更多

Cypermethri...The prophylactic effects of Chinese propolis against cypermethrin toxicity were evaluated by performing ovary and uterus histopathology, as well as by characterizing ovarian function, embryos, and litters. Cypermethrin induced atypia in the ovary and uterus, and decreased the ovulation sites and the number of embryos. Cypermethrin-induced oxidative stress during pregnancy, decreased the parturition rate as well as the number and weight of offspring and increased the incidence of morphological malformations in the offspring. Administration of propolis to cypermethrin-treated animals mitigated cypermethrin-induced reproductive toxicity.展开更多
